    Abstract: Das baufällig gewordene sakrale Männerhaus wird innerhalb eines Tages mit bereitgehaltenem Baumaterial durch eine Neukonstruktion ersetzt. Etwa 50 einheimische Männer und Jungen sowie Gäste aus anderen Dörfern nehmen an dem Bau des Rundhauses mit Kegeldach teil. Die Arbeit wird von zeremoniellen Handlungen begleitet.
    Abstract: Building materials, poles and planks, are partly of sacral character. They are set up at a rhythmical run, producing a state of ecstasy. Food is distributed to the workers. The new house is covered with the old roof. Finally, the sacred digging-stick is placed in the new men's house. Small spirit houses are also constructed.

    Abstract: Im Gartenland des Dorfes Malingdam/Imarin erzeugt ein Mann namens Uwok durch Sägen mit einem Rotan-Strang auf einem Holzstück Feuer. Er hält das Holzstück, das auf leicht brennbarem Material liegt, mit den Füßen fest. In zwei Einstellungen wird der Vorgang auch in Zeitdehnung (64 B/s) gezeigt.
    Abstract: In his garden on a low plain below the settlements Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, makes fire. He presses a split stick with the feet to the ground, passes a rotan string underneath and "saws" until glowing sawdust is dropping on the "tinder" (dried leaves) placed below. After several vain attempts (breaking of the rotan string) Uwok finally succeeds in producing a blaze.

    Abstract: Sinkin, ein Junge aus Malingdam, beschäftigt sich mit dem Flächenverschränkspiel "Haus der Fledermaus" (tetim aik), indem er zwei Bananenblattstücke z. T. in schmale Streifen auflöst und ineinander verflicht. Es entsteht ein kegelförmiges Geflecht. Drei Jungen kommen hinzu und suchen ihn mit einer besseren und feineren Arbeit zu übertreffen.
    Abstract: In Malingdam the boy Sinkin executes the plaiting game "house of the bat" (tetim aik). He detaches from two pieces of banana leaves narrow strips which he interlaces. He is joined by three other boys who try to surpass him by attaining a better "performance", a finer interlacing.

    Abstract: To provide firewood Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, climbs up a tree (Sloanea tieghemii) in the mountain-forest and cuts off a big branch of relatively hard wood by means of a stone adze. The work being well done, the blade (of andesite) remains undamaged since crossfibres are carefully avoided.

    Abstract: Uwok, ein führender Mann aus Malingdam, pflegt die Pflanzen in seinem 2100 m hoch gelegenen Tarogarten: Jäten, Gründüngung, Aushebeln von Grassoden mit dem Grabstock, Ernten und Pflanzen von Taro, Garen im offenen Feuer, Essen.
    Abstract: Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, cultivates his taro garden at an altitude of 2100 metres: He uproots the weeds, heaps them up around the taro plants (Colocasia esculenta) as green manure, takes up sods of grass with the digging stick, and places them upside-down about the plants. Uwok harvests taro and plants the sprout again. He roasts small taro tubers in the fire for a spontaneous meal.
