Abstract: Saying that many investors were not convinced by cryptocurrencies in their first decade of existence would be an understatement. Originally, author Thomas Jeegers was one of them. He looked into this new virtual money more than once and, each time, decided not to invest. Like many long-term investors, he was looking for fundamentals. Crypto had none or so he thought. This book details why his perspective on cryptoassets has shifted and why yours should, too. Recent developments in this field have turned crypto from a speculative financial innovation to a new asset class, one with a new kind of fundamentals that offer real economic value. One that will change finance and investments. One that may be a trigger defining the fourth industrial revolution, the same way steam, electricity, and the Internet were triggers for the first, second, and third industrial revolutions, respectively. Despite what advocates of the traditional financial establishment like to claim, cryptoassets were by far the best financial investment of the last decade, even risk-adjusted, and could still be so for the coming one. They should not be overlooked, regardless of ones opinion of them. This book answers the main questions any potential long-term investor in cryptoassets should ask: What are cryptoassets and blockchain technology? Why consider cryptoasset investments? When is a good time to invest? Where should one invest? How should one invest? Which valuation methods are appropriate? Understanding Crypto Fundamentals includes a deep dive into the management of risks specific to cryptoassets, both financial and non-financial, and provides the tools needed for investment success in this new asset class. Upon completing the book, you will have a new perspective on cryptoassets and how you can benefit from them as an investor. Thomas Jeegers is a CFA Charterholder and Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and has earned an MBA from INSEAD as well as multiple blockchain certifications from institutions including INSEAD and Oxford University. He has worked in finance for 10 years and is a frequent speaker at events on blockchain and cryptoassets.

Abstract: Learn blockchain in a simple, non-tech way and explore the different emerging technologies that open a world of opportunities in the space of tourism and hospitality. This book showcases examples of blockchain-based solutions implemented in different industries and connects them to use cases in hospitality and tourism (disintermediation, payments, loyalty programs, supply chain management, identity management etc.). Blockchain is one of the disruptive technologies that lays foundations for Web3.0, NFTs, Metaverse and other innovations. Despite many benefits, its adoption in the hospitality industry is very slow. Lack of awareness and connection to clear return-on-investment, coupled with many misconceptions and general perception of complexity is one of the main reasons why hospitality managers are reluctant to embark on the blockchain train. Blockchain for Hospitality and Tourism serves as a practical guide to the world of innovations, from the basics of blockchain to "how to start a project" with brief explanations of different technologies and capabilities. You'll review NFTs and Metaverse, along with current developments, tools, and platforms. After reading this book, you'll be equipped with enough knowledge to make strategic business decisions and able to discuss these topics within your organization and with vendors and suppliers in a comfortable way. As blockchain enters the next phase of its evolution, with more user-friendly interfaces and interoperability, see how it opens a world of opportunities in the space of tourism and hospitality.

Abstract: Become more mindful of the user when building digital products, and learn how to integrate a user-centered approach into your thinking as a web or app developer. This book shows you how the user experience is the responsibility of everyone involved in creating the product and how to redefine development principles when building user-centered digital products. There are still many organizations that are not design driven, and the gap between stereotypical design and development teams needs to be bridged in order to build digital products that cater to the needs of real people. We are at a point where we see organizations that cannot bring the user experience into their core thinking falling behind their competitors. You'll see how to increase the level of UX maturity within any organization by tackling what is possibly the biggest stumbling block that stands between design and development: putting user needs ahead of system efficiency. UX for Developers shows how you can adjust your focus in order to be more mindful of the user when building digital products. Learn to care about what you build, not just for the system's sake, but for those who will use what you build. What You'll Learn Understand what it means to build websites and applications for the user, rather than from a developer's perspective. Review the soft skills required to build more usable digital products Discover the tools and techniques to adopt a user-focused approach to development. Improve communication throughout design and development, especially between developers and non-developers. Who This Book Is For Primary audience is Web/app developers that are looking to understand what it takes to build usable digital products. Secondary audience is UX Designers who are looking to understand the viewpoint of developers; Project managers and stakeholders who need to facilitate better working relationships between developers and designers.

Abstract: Unfortunately, making decisions is not as simple as you saying "yes" or "no" to your team. Unlike most other compilations of English words, the complexity of software mandates that it is the creation of a group, and therefore it is a reflection of the decisions that the group makes. In some cases a Big Boss can dictate decisions. Unluckily, you are not the Big Boss, and you must enable your team to find ways to say no to the things they love. Here's how to get the job done.

Abstract: Mentors are commonly assigned to junior members of a team, such as new hires straight out of school or student interns. Many organizations use mentors as part of their onboarding process for all new hires. Sometimes the mentor is another junior person on the team, perhaps herself only a year or two into the organization; someone who can still clearly remember the onboarding or internship process herself, and can closely relate to the new person. Other times the mentor is a senior engineer who can act as a technical mentor in addition to helping the new hire get up to speed on the process. In a healthy organization, this onboarding mentorship role is used as an opportunity for both parties. The mentor gets the chance to see what it is like to have responsibility for another person, and the mentee gets an overseer who is focused on him alone, without other reports clamoring for his mentor's attention.

Will one of them eventually win out? This article explains why these two disciplines-in both practice and philosophy-are much more alike than you may think. Humans have been thinking about better ways to operate things for millennia, but despite all of this effort and thought, running enterprise software operations well remains elusive for many organizations. In this article, IT operations experts provide the key tenets of DevOps and SRE, compare and contrast the two, and explain the incentives necessary to successfully adopt either approach.

Abstract: Some companies think that adopting DevOps means bringing in specialists or a host of new tools, yet DevOps is a professional and cultural movement that calls for change from inside your organization. In this lesson, you'll explore the current ecosystem of tools for software development, automation, system provisioning, test and build, and monitoring that are useful in a DevOps environment. You'll learn why it's important to select tools that will benefit your organization as a whole and not just a subset of teams. From server installation automation to infrastructure configuration and automation, the tools you choose should enhance-but not replace-the interpersonal and cultural aspects of your environment.

Abstract: "Creating and implementing an effective online security plan is vital in keeping a business safe, but how can the non-technical business manager participate in such planning without the language and understanding required to do so? In this course, Emmanuel Henri explores the basics of cybersecurity from a layman's perspective. He discusses what cybersecurity is and why it's important; he details the conversations managers must have with their teams to set the proper security initiatives and hire the proper staff; he explores the cybersecurity resources managers can easily tap into; and finishes by demonstrating the ways cybersecurity measures are applied in real life."--Resource description page.

Abstract: It may seem odd to consider company culture when talking about network automation, but like anyone else in your organization, network engineers want to work with like-minded people who care what they do and how they do it. Culture is about optimizing a human system and improving communication so that all three aspects of your DevOps environment-tools, processes, and people-work in harmony. This lesson shows you how to assess your team and its place in the organization. You'll also learn how to "embrace failure" by having a game plan for learning from failure when it does happen, and discover how to enhance your personal skills and education on the job.

Abstract: "Today's world is all about smart phone and computers, but creating the apps and websites that run on these devices can take a year or more to complete. Prototypes are typically non-functioning models of apps and websites that give developers and designers the edge on this lengthy creation process. Why? Because prototypes can be assembled in as little as a single day, saving them time and money. This course teaches you how to use Origami, a prototyping tool created by designers at Facebook that makes it easy to create prototypes for smart apps and websites. You'll explore Origami's interface, learn the principles of prototyping, and gain experience assembling and disseminating a basic prototype."--Resource description page.

Abstract: "InnerSource is a software development methodology that applies the lessons learned from decades of open source software development to the concerns of tech leads and developers working inside proprietary organizations. In this introductory level course, InnerSource experts Danese Cooper and Russell Rutledge draw on their own experiences at companies like PayPal, Nike, and more to describe how InnerSource methods solve real world issues. How do I get teams located in far flung locations, possibly speaking different languages, and using different tools to work together effectively? How do I teach teams to contribute code without disrupting each other's workflow? How can I encourage developers in one business unit to incorporate functionality in their products using features developed by a competing business unit? These are just a few of the concerns InnerSource can address. By the end of this course, you'll have a firm understanding of InnerSource's key practices (collaboration, transparency, and mentorship) and a solid grasp of how you can use them to transform your own team from average to excellent."--Resource description page.

Abstract: "It's critical to have 'humans in the loop' when automating the deployment of machine learning (ML) models. Why? Because models often perform worse over time. This course covers the human directed safeguards that prevent poorly performing models from deploying into production and the techniques for evaluating models over time. We'll use ModelDB to capture the appropriate metrics that help you identify poorly performing models. We'll review the many factors that affect model performance (i.e., changing users and user preferences, stale data, etc.) and the variables that lose predictive power. We'll explain how to utilize classification and prediction scoring methods such as precision recall, ROC, and jaccard similarity. We'll also show you how ModelDB allows you to track provenance and metrics for model performance and health; how to integrate ModelDB with SparkML; and how to use the ModelDB APIs to store information when training models in Spark ML. Learners should have basic familiarity with the following: Scala or Python; Hadoop, Spark, or Pandas; SBT or Maven; cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services; Bash, Docker, and REST."--Resource description page.
