    Abstract: Der Uhrenschildmaler Karl Straub (geb. 1892) stellt ein Uhrenschild mit dem traditionellen Rosenmuster im Bogenfeld her: Eine Sperrholzplatte wird weiß grundiert, mit Hilfe einer Pappschablone mit schwarzem Zifferblatt versehen und aus freier Hand mit farbigen Blumenmotiven bemalt.
    Abstract: Karl Straub (born 1892) is one of the last painters of clockfaces in the Black Forest. The film shows him during his work, in this way it is possible to duplicate the completion of a clockface. In the beginning the panel gets its priming, then the dail is formed and following the empty spaces are decorated. Typical for clocks from the region around Furtwangen is the rose in the arc, for which decoration Karl Straub devotes most of his attention. Apart from the painting the film also imparts how the paint is used and which tools the painter needs.

    Abstract: Salap, ein Mann aus Malingdam/Imarin, spannt Kettfäden über ein Holzgerät und beginnt zu weben, indem er jedes zweite Fach von Hand öffnet. Die jeweils darauffolgenden Fächer werden durch Einschieben eines Trennstabes in die Kette automatisch vorgebildet. Auf den Arbeitsfaden werden weiße Glasperlen aufgezogen. Dieser wird durch das geöffnete Fach geschoben und zwischen den Kettfäden geordnet. Nach Fertigstellung bindet sich Salap die Stirnbinde um.
    Abstract: Salap, a man from Malingdam/Imarin village, demonstrates the making of a head-band in plait weaving technique. He stretches the warp over a wooden frame and starts weaving, opening every alternate shed by hand. The counter sheds are formed automatically by insertion of a separating stick. Assisted by another man and by boys, Salap strings white glass beads on the working thread, passes it through the open shed and arranges the glass beads between the different warp threads. The result is a woven band with a design of glass beads. Salap works in company with other men engaged in other things. Head-bands of this kind are worn by men as festive ornament.

    Abstract: Architektur und Innenausstattung des 1873 erbauten Langhauses (50 m lang, 14 m breit, auf 30 Eisenholzträgern 15 m über dem Boden errichtet) und der Alltag seiner Bewohner sind Thema der Dokumentation: Reisanbau, Gewinnung und Weiterverarbeitung von Rotan, dörfliches Leben am Flußufer, Aspekte der Totenverehrung. Während eines Willkommenfestes, an dem das ganze Dorf teilnimmt, werden verschiedene Tänze aufgeführt.
    Abstract: The film shows the architecture and the interior decoration of a longhouse built in 1873 (50 metres long, 14 metres wide, constructed upon 30 ironwood girders 15 metres above the ground) and the daily life of its inhabitans: rice cultivation, collecting and processing rotan, village life on the river bank, aspects of the veneration of the dead. During a welcome festival, in which the whole village takes part, different dances are performed.
