    Abstract: Die drei kurzen Zeremonien: Herrichten der Eucharistie-Opfer, Einkleidung des Liturgen und Einleitungsgebet wurden vom Erzbischof Gregorius Saliba von Mosul auf dem Dach seines Amtssitzes vor der Kamera durchgeführt.
    Abstract: The preparations for the West Syrian liturgy consist of three short ceremonies: preparing Eucharist bread and wine, vesting the liturgist, and the introductory prayer of the liturgy. Each piece of vestment and each liturgical act is of symbolical value. These ceremonies are performed before the beginning of the liturgy in the sacristy or beside the altar. In the film they are celebrated by the Archbishop of Mossul Gregorius Saliba.

    Abstract: Der Teig des Kommunionbrotes wird aus Weizenmehl, Salz, Wasser und Sauerteig zubereitet. Man wickelt ihn in ein Tuch und läßt ihn mehrere Stunden liegen. Nach der Gärung entfernt man die Kruste, formt die Brote und markiert sie mit einem Stempel. Anschließend werden die Brote gebacken. An den Arbeiten waren mehrere Männer an verschiedenen Orten beteiligt.
    Abstract: The liturgical ceremonies are of great importance within the Syrian Orthodox Church. They enabled the faithful to abide by their Christian faith even in times of oppression. Though the making of eucharist bread is not an essential part of Christian faith, it is of high symbolical value and occupies an important position in the spiritual and liturgical tradition of the Orient. The dough is made from flour, salt, water and leaven.

    Abstract: Erzbischof Saliba legt, während er seine Gebete spricht, das Heilige Gewand der Eucharistie (Schuhe, Chorhemd, Schärpe, Gürtel, Armstulpen, Kopf- und Schultertuch, Umhang, goldene Kette mit Kreuz) an. Dann wäscht er sich die Hände, nimmt ein goldenes Kreuz mit einem purpurnen Tuch in die rechte, den Bischofsstab in die linke Hand und entfernt sich.
    Abstract: The ceremony of dressing the Bishop is one of the old traditions of the Syrian Orthodox Church. Each piece of the Bishop's vestment and each act of the ceremony are of symbolic value. The dressing is accompanied by several prayers.
