    Abstract: Ali Beidun, Besitzer eines Familienbetriebes in Qualmun, zeigt die einfachste Form der Ornamentierung eines kupfernen Schmucktellers vor der Kamera: Aufzeichnung der geometrischen Formen, Punzen und Ziselieren, Schreiben und Punzen dreier Wörter in arabischer Schrift. Als Abgrenzung des künstlerischen Feldes wird ein Schlußkreis auf dem Kupferteller gezogen. Diese Handwerkstechnik ist relativ neu im Libanon und zeigt arabisch-moslemischen Einfluß auf die einheimische Handwerkskultur.
    Abstract: The film shows the decoration of a copper smth Ali Beidun in his workshop. The work is carried out in four stages: drawing the geometrical forms, punching and chasing, writing and chasing three words in Arabic, cutting a circle to limit the artistic field. This form of craftmanship is comparatively new in Lebanon and shows the Arabian-Moslem influence upon Lebanese handicraft.

    Abstract: Der Teig des Kommunionbrotes wird aus Weizenmehl, Salz, Wasser und Sauerteig zubereitet. Man wickelt ihn in ein Tuch und läßt ihn mehrere Stunden liegen. Nach der Gärung entfernt man die Kruste, formt die Brote und markiert sie mit einem Stempel. Anschließend werden die Brote gebacken. An den Arbeiten waren mehrere Männer an verschiedenen Orten beteiligt.
    Abstract: The liturgical ceremonies are of great importance within the Syrian Orthodox Church. They enabled the faithful to abide by their Christian faith even in times of oppression. Though the making of eucharist bread is not an essential part of Christian faith, it is of high symbolical value and occupies an important position in the spiritual and liturgical tradition of the Orient. The dough is made from flour, salt, water and leaven.

    Abstract: Der Handwerker Muhsen ar-Ruhban aus Zgarta flicht vor einer Werkstatt in Halat das Grundgerüst des Lampenschirms aus Schilfrohr. Dann steckt er Glasperlen auf die Schilfrohrgerten und formt das Ganze zu einem Lampenschirm. Abschließend flicht er einen Henkel zum Aufhängen des Lampenschirmes.
    Abstract: The film shows the making of a lampshade from reed and glass beads. In front of a workshop at Halat Muhsen ar-Ruhban, a craftsman from Zgarta, first plaits the part of the lampshade made of reed. He then threads the glass beads on the reeds and forms the whole into the desired shape of a lampshade. Finally, he plaits a handle for suspending the lampshade.
