Abstract:
"Using the case of Tehran's Artists' House, Space, Culture, and the Youth in Iran places the socio-political implications of Iran's social and cultural transformation in a local-global context. The author examines the bipolar dimension of openness to change versus conservation in the context of everyday life in Tehran - as well as the role both sets of values play in Iranian society. The text addresses the reflexive interaction of the youth with technology and mass communications, law, society, and traditional and religious perceptions and values.
