    Abstract: "Das Handbuch Text und Gespräch bietet einen Überblick über zentrale Befunde und aktuell relevante Fragestellungen der Text- und Gesprächslinguistik vor dem Hintergrund einer nun über 40-jährigen Forschungstradition. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Frage, in welcher Weise in und mit Texten und Gesprächen Wissen konstituiert, repräsentiert, diskursiv durchgesetzt und vermittelt wird. Dieser Fokus dient unter anderem der Reflexion der Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen geschriebenen und gesprochenen Texten. Eher allgemeine Überblicksartikel zu Oralität und Literalität, zu Text und Gespräch, zu Sprechen/Hören und Lesen/Schreiben werden ergänzt durch Perspektiven auf Textverständlichkeit und Text-Bild-Zusammenhänge. Eine Reihe von Beiträgen spürt dem Zusammenhang von Wissen(svermittlung) und Texten/Gesprächen in verschiedenen konkreten Domänen nach (z.B. in Schule, Ausbildung, Wissenschaft, Politik, Organisationen, den helping professions oder der Technischen Dokumentation). Ein weiterer Fokus wird schliesslich auf Wissenskonflikte gelegt, d.h. auf Phänomene wie Streit, Missverstehen, Normenkonflikte und die Kommunikation von Nichtwissen.     Abstract: "Aus sprachwissenschaftlicher Sicht liegt in der Untersuchung von massenmedialen TV-Formaten,die von Fernsehschaffenden und der Medienwissenschaft als Infotainment bezeichnet werden, eine Forschungslücke vor. Es ist bislang nichts darüber bekannt, wie die Interagierenden in solchen Sendungen situativ mit den massenmedialen Anforderungen von Informationsvermittlung und Entertainment umgehen. Die Untersuchung geht auf der Basis von 40 Stunden Sendematerial einer bekannten deutschen Kochsendung der Frage nach, mittels welcher verbalen sowie körperlich-visuellen Verfahren die Beteiligten die mediale Gattung situativ als Infotainment hervorbringen.     Abstract: "Literacy and Second Language Learning for the Linguistic Integration of Adult Migrants (LASLLIAM)" is a new reference guide of the Council of Europe. It was developed by a group of experts and the Council of Europe Education Department to support high-quality learning environments for non- and low-literate migrants. Language skills foster, among others, social inclusion, and access to education and employment. Within this context, non-literate or low-literate migrants have specific educational needs, as they must learn a second language while either learning to read and write for the first time or developing basic literacy competences in an alphabet or writing system sometimes different from the one they will have learned initially. When it comes to language or knowledge of society courses, these needs are rarely taken into consideration, and this group of migrants is rarely offered a sufficient number of hours to reach the language level required. This is why LASLLIAM has been conceived: it aims at supporting language educators, curriculum designers and language policymakers in their endeavour to design, implement, evaluate and improve curricula tailored toward the specific needs of the target learners.

    Abstract: "Cybermobbing ist ein spezifischer Typ digitaler Gewalt, der vor allem unter Kindern und Jugendlichen vorkommt und in den Fokus der breiten Öffentlichkeit geraten ist. Die Cybermobbing-Forschung ist geprägt von zahlreichen sozialpsychologischen und medienwissenschaftlichen Studien. Eine linguistische Beschäftigung mit konkretem Sprachmaterial stand jedoch bis heute aus. Im vorliegenden Buch wird anhand vieler authentischer Beispiele erörtert, wie sich Cybermobbing im Netz zeigt, in welchen Formvarianten es als kommunikatives Phänomen in Erscheinung tritt und wie die Spezifik der Online-Kommunikation in der virtuellen Welt Einfluss auf die spezifischen Prozesse dieser verbalen Gewalt nimmt. Umfangreiche Detailanalysen helfen, die Spezifik des Emotionspotenzials dieser Texte besser zu verstehen.     Abstract: Von der Trendsportart Parkour über das Alte Testament bis hin zur Berliner Hausbesetzerszene - die vielfältigen Beiträge dieses Sammelbandes stellen sich der Herausforderung, Fragen zu den Verschränkungen von Raum und Geschlecht anders zu denken. Vorherrschende Interpretationen aktueller gesellschaftlicher Phänomene sowie etablierte Forschungsgegenstände werden dabei auf den Prüfstand gestellt, um vergeschlechtlichten Machtstrukturen auf die Spur zu kommen. So finden sich widerständige Maschen und machtvolle Muster in einem breiten Themenspektrum, das von der Betrachtung performativer Akte und diskursiver Strukturen bis hin zu medialen Aufbereitungen reicht. Einführende Kommentare von Nikita Dhawan, Antje Flüchter, Stephan Günzel, Sabine Hark und Helga Meise rahmen die Beiträge.
    Abstract: From the sports trend of parkour, via the Old Testament, up to the Berlin squatting scene - the different contributions to this volume take up the challenge of rethinking questions about the entanglement of space and gender. Predominant interpretations of current societal phenomena as well as established research topics are examined in order to trace gendered power structures. Thus, resistant moves/tricks (Maschen) and powerful games/acts (Muster) are found in a wide range of topics reaching from observations of performative acts and discourse structures all the way to medial treatments. Introductory comments by Nikita Dhawan, Antje Flüchter, Stephan Günzel, Sabine Hark, and Helga Meise frame the contributions.     Abstract: What does it mean to be authentic? How is authenticity indexed in contexts of language expression? Authenticity is considered a driving force of individuals’ behaviour and is evaluated according to cultural contexts and mediated by and expressed in language. This volume examines the meanings of linguistic authenticity and problematises the authentic speaker as reflecting a complex and dynamic deployment of sociolinguistic and pragmatic resources.     Abstract: The concept of authenticity has received some attention in recent academic discourse, yet it has often been left under-defined from a sociolinguistic perspective. This volume presents the contributions of a wide range of scholars who exchanged their views on the topic at a conference in Freiburg, Germany, in November 2011. The authors address three leading questions: What are the local meanings of authenticity embedded in large cultural and social structures? What is the meaning of linguistic authenticity in delocalised and/or deterritorialised settings? How is authenticity indexed in other contexts of language expression (e.g. in writing or in political discourse)? These questions are tackled by recognised experts in the fields of sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and contact linguistics. While by no means exhaustive, the volume offers a large array of case studies that contribute significantly to our understanding of the meaning of authenticity in language production and perception.

    Abstract: The graphic design of texts has become a linguistic object in its own right. To date, however, it has rarely been considered from a sociolinguistic perspective.     Abstract: Biographical note: Stephan Conermann (Prof. Dr.) ist Professor für Islamwissenschaft an der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Bonn. Zu seinen Forschungsschwerpunkten zählen Transformationsprozesse in islamischen Gesellschaften, narrative Strategien in vormodernen Texten muslimischer Autoren, der Islam in Indien bis zur Neuzeit, Kultur und Geschichte der Mamlukenzeit und die deutsche Orientalistik im Spannungsfeld kulturwissenschaftlicher Methodenvielfalt.
    Abstract: Die Kultur- und Geisteswissenschaften durchlaufen derzeit einen fundamentalen Wandlungsprozess: Mit den neuen Herausforderungen der Globalisierung werden europäische geisteswissenschaftliche Kategorien zunehmend in Frage gestellt und neu reflektiert. Insbesondere die »Kleinen Fächer« werden sich angesichts dessen nur behaupten können, wenn sie sich innovativen kulturwissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen öffnen, die die gegenwärtigen globalen Zustände kritisch zu durchdringen vermögen. Die Beiträge des Bandes zeigen, inwieweit die »Kleinen Fächer« tatsächlich bereit sind, diesen »Cultural Turn« zu vollziehen, inwiefern eine kulturwissenschaftliche Ausrichtung diese Fächer stärkt und fragen, ob eine solch verbindende Perspektive disziplinenübergreifend zur Orientierung verhilft.

    Abstract: Sowohl der Begriff als auch die Vorstellung von »Kultur« verändern sich aktuell radikal. Intellektuelle aus allen Disziplinen sind damit befasst, eine Neubestimmung und -positionierung von »Kultur« vorzunehmen. Im Zeitalter von Globalisierung und Migration ist die Vorstellung von einer zugleich an ein Volk, eine Nation und an einen spezifischen Ort gebundenen Kultur im Herder'schen Sinne offenbar obsolet geworden. Man versucht vielmehr, die Fluidität, die Dynamik und die Grenzüberschreitungen zwischen Kulturen zu begreifen. Die Beiträge in diesem Band zeigen, dass das Konzept der Transkulturalität, welches zunehmend sowohl die Interkulturalitäts-Studien als auch die Postcolonial Studies als kulturwissenschaftliches Paradigma ablöst, hierfür einen methodischen Ansatzpunkt bietet.

    Abstract: Volume 4 includes unique records of Orok (Uilta), a Tungusic language (dictionaries, texts, grammatical comments) noted down by Pilsudski directly from native informants at the beginning of the 20th century on Sakhalin. The original source material is identified with the help of - and confronted against - all the existing contemporary dictionaries with the assistance of leading specialists in the field (the Novosibirsk Avrorin group, also called the school of Manchu-Tungusologists). Abundant comparative data are quoted. All necessary introductory information and commentaries of ethnographic, historical, and linguistic nature are provided. Archival photos taken by Pilsudski are juxtaposed with related contemporary photos especially taken for this purpose. In addition, samples of original manuscript pages are reproduced. Bibliographical data and indices are provided in conformity with the previous volumes.

    Abstract: Kunst und Kultur finden im Kulturbetrieb statt. In diesem institutionellen Rahmen sind Künstler, Interpreten und Kulturmanager tätig, um Kunst zu produzieren und an ein Publikum zu vermitteln. Dabei spielen spartenspezifische Traditionen und künstlerische Ziele ebenso eine Rolle wie politische, ökonomische und rechtliche Bedingungen, die von außen an den Kulturbetrieb herangetragen werden. In einem oft nur schwer durchschaubaren Geflecht von Zielen, Interessen und Bedingungen fallen im Kulturbetrieb Entscheidungen zur Kunst - und dies nicht selten ohne Rücksicht auf den künstlerischen Gehalt. Das Buch verfolgt das Ziel, diese Zusammenhänge sowohl spartenübergreifend als auch spartenspezifisch zu verdeutlichen. Neben der Frage, warum bestimmte Traditionen den Kulturbetrieb bis heute prägen, ist von besonderem Interesse, durch welche Veränderung der Rahmenbedingungen andere Ziele verfolgt und erreicht werden können. Daraus ergeben sich interessante Perspektiven für die Zukunftsfähigkeit der Künste im Kulturbetrieb.

    Abstract: Biographical note: Cordula Neis ist Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Universität Potsdam im DFG-Projekt "Onomasiologisches Lexikon sprachtheoretischer Grundbegriffe des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts".
    Abstract: Untersuchungsgegenstand des vorliegenden Bandes ist die für das Jahr 1771 von der Berliner Akademie der Wissenschaften gestellte Preisfrage, ob Menschen, wenn sie nur ihren natürlichen Fähigkeiten überlassen sind, Sprache erfinden können. Die berühmte Preisfrage ist Philologen und Historikern wohlbekannt, doch reduziert sich ihre Bekanntheit zumeist auf die schließlich ausgezeichnete Abhandlung Johann Gottfried Herders. Die nie veröffentlichten französischen, deutschen und lateinischen Abhandlungen der 30 Mitbewerber hingegen, von denen 24 im Archiv der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften aufbewahrt werden, sind weithin unbekannt. Sie werden hier zum ersten Mal erschlossen und im Zusammenhang sprachtheoretischer und anthropologischer Diskurse der europäischen Aufklärung (u. a. Rousseau, Condillac, Locke, Buffon) analysiert. Ein wichtiges Anliegen der Arbeit besteht u. a. darin, die ausschließliche Perspektive der Forschung auf Herders Abhandlung zu relativieren und seine Leistung im Kontext der konkurrierenden Einsendungen neu zu bewerten. Die Autorin hat dazu ca. 1000 unedierte Handschriftenseiten ausgewertet, von denen einige hier exemplarisch abgedruckt sind.

    Abstract: The Enzyklopädie des Märchens (“Encyclopaedia of the Folk Tale”) is a reference work presenting the results of almost two centuries of international research in the field of folk narrative tradition past and present.It compares the rich stock of narrative material from the most diverse ethnic groups transmitted orally and through the medium of literature, and presents its social, historical, psychological, and religious backgrounds.
