    Abstract: Lesbian web series narrate female-centered stories, strengthen identity construction, and generate transnational communities beyond cultural barriers. Julia Obermayr explores the first definition of a new format, the first representations of lesbian women in US-American, Canadian, and Spanish web series from 2007 and onward, as well as their reciprocal effects regarding identity construction and community building of their transnational, mainly female, audience.The analyzed corpus comprises scenes taken from Venice the Series (2009) and its backstory »Otalia« on the soap opera Guiding Light (1952-2009), Seeking Simone (2009), Out With Dad (2010), Féminin/ Féminin (2014), Chica Busca Chica (2007) and its cinematic sequel De Chica En Chica (2015), as well as Notas Aparte (2016)
    Abstract: Biographical note: Julia Obermayr (Dr. phil.), born in 1981, did her doctorate at the University of Graz and in LGBT+ archives in Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Madrid, and Barcelona. She specializes in cultural studies, lesbian/LGBT studies and diversity, minority identities, and female representations in audiovisual media, mainly in Romance speaking Europe and the Americas

    Abstract: During the first mandatory lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic, citizens worldwide turned to »pandemic fictions« or started to produce their own »Corona Fictions« across different media. These accounts of (previously) experienced or imagined health crises feature a great variety of protagonists and their (re)actions in response to the exceptional circumstances. The contributors to this volume take a closer look at different pandemic protagonists in fictional narratives relating to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as in existing pandemic fictions. Thereby they provide new insights into pandemic narratives from a cultural, literary, and media studies perspective from antiquity to today

    Abstract: Krisen verschärfen gesellschaftliche Problemlagen bzw. lassen diese besonders deutlich hervortreten. Zugleich werfen krisenbedingte Einschnitte in bisher selbstverständliche Gewohnheiten grundlegende Fragen zum Zusammenleben in modernen Staaten und zur Funktionsweise gesellschaftlicher Institutionen auf. Vor dem Hintergrund der Corona-Pandemie leuchten die Beiträger*innen des Bandes das Thema der gesellschaftlichen Kohäsion in Krisenzeiten aus unterschiedlichen Fachrichtungen näher aus.
