Abstract:
Die Einwohner des thüringischen Ortes Hundeshagen, im katholischen Eichsfeld gelegen, spezialisierten sich im ausgehenden 18. Jahrhundert auf die Wandermusik. Erst 1958 kam dieses Wandergewerbe ganz zum Erliegen. Männer und Frauen spielten auf Märkten und Messen, in Gasthäusern und Cafés und in den Badeorten an Nord- und Ostsee die beliebten Stücke ihrer Zeit. Drei ehemalige Wandermusiker erzählen von ihrem früheren Berufsalltag. Zeitgenössische Fotografien sowie historische Film- und Tonaufzeichnungen ergänzen die Interviews. Nach 35 Jahren besuchen zwei Musiker eines ihrer früheren Reiseziele, die "Fürther Kerwa".
Abstract:
The inhabitants of Thuringian Hundeshagen in the Eichsfeld specialised in travelling music in the late 18th century, and it wasn't until 1958 that this way of life finally came to an end. At markets and trade fairs, in inns and cafés, and in health resorts by the sea, musicians from Hundeshagen, both male and female, played the popular tunes of the time. Three former travelling musicians tell us about their everyday working life. Inserts of contemporary photographs, historical filmrecordings and sound tracks complete the interviews. After 35 years, two musicians visit one of their former destinations, the "Fürther Kerwa".
