Abstract: Ein Handwerker und sein Sohn aus Corum reparieren ein Dreschbrett auf dem Dreschplatz des Dorfes Türk Kalehisar: Entfernen der alten Silexklingen, Ausbessern der Löcher, Abspalten, Retuschieren und Einsetzen neuer Klingen.
Abstract: In a large part of Anatolia the cereals mainly produced by dry-farming are harvested with scythes, threshed and reduced to chaff with threshing floats, whose undersides are covered with sharp flints. These flints grow dull with use and therefore have to be renewed every one to three years. The film shows us how a craftsman specialized in this kind of work removes dull and broken flints from the float, then reshapes the holes for their mooring in the wood and furnishes them with sharp new blades. These he chips off a big nucleus of silex, chisels into lanceolate shape and retouches slightly around the cutting edges.
