Abstract:
Jäger kommen mit reicher Beute ins Dorf. Ein Stück Fleisch wird rituell geröstet und von einer Initiandin verspeist. Während des Kauens spuckt sie in die Hand ihrer Lehrerin, die den Speichel auf Bauch und Hals der Initiandin verreibt und sie dadurch von diesem Fleischverbot befreit.
Abstract:
Hunters, laden with meat, arrive in the village and are feted by the women. They are given water from ostrich-eggshell containers. A female initiate is led ceremonially from her isolation hut to "see" the meat. A hunter gives her teacher a piece, part of which is ritually roasted, sprinkled with scrapings from two medicines suspended in a bundle around her neck and fed to her; the rest is cooked. While chewing it, she spits on her teacher's hand who, with this saliva, massages the initiate's stomach and throat thus releasing her from this meat taboo.
