Abstract:
Patamban has 3 statues of Mary kept in cargo by families in their homes. At candlemas (2 Feb) the statues are decorated and Mass is read. A flag is raised and people are invited to dance and eat. New candles are donated to the church. Young people (Chereques) wearing horrible masks dance in the village to traditional music. Finally fireworks are lit on a figure of a bull, made from corn stems.
