After palpating the goitre the practitioner makes with an old blade made in Europe ten incisions in the skin covering the goitre. In a special potsherd he mixes healing oil with a black powder, obtained by charring and grinding a special kind of wood, and rubs the resulting thick paste thoroughly into the cuts.
