Abstract:
Ein Mädchen aus dem Dorf Ban Alm bereitet das Garn zum Schären vor: Aufwickeln, Strangbildung, Schlichten mit Reismehlwasser, Trocknen. Nach dem Abwickeln des Garnes mit einer Kreuzhaspel werden sechs Schärpflöcke in die Erde geschlagen, und die Kette wird von zwei Frauen geschärt.
Abstract:
Thread from a wholly spun spindle is wound into a ball. The thread from the ball runs through a hollow bamboo stick which is held in the hand; then it is wound into a skein with the help of a double-T-shaped handreel. The skein is taken off the reel, starched in a solution of rice flour, and then strung between two poles to dry. When the skein is dry it is put on a reel and the thread is unwound into a basket. Six thread-beams are knocked into the ground and two women fix the warp.
