Abstract:
Die in der Provinz Yunnan lebenden Dai lassen sich nicht als homogene Gruppe erfassen. Seit Generationen haben die Daisai oberhalb des Roten Flusses am Fuße des Ailiao-Berges gelebt. Noch heute praktizieren die Frauen dort das Zähnefärben, während Fortschritt und Modernisierung neue Herausforderungen mit sich bringen und ihre Traditionen bedrohen.
Abstract:
The Dai (Thai) people in Yunnan Province can't be classified in to one homogenous group. The Daisai have lived on the upper reaches of the Red River at the foot of Ailiao Mountain for generations. Here, teeth dying is still practiced by the women, while modernization and development bring about challenges threatening their traditions.
