Abstract:
The book dedicated to the musical archive of František Vladimír and Irena Foit is a continuation of the publication Africká sbírka – František Vladimír Foit (African Collection – František Vladimír Foit), which was published by the National Museum in 2009. The book focuses on the presentation of the sound archives of the Mr. and Mrs Foit which contains recordings made in Africa in years 1948 to 1950. Part of this publication includes a collection of musical instruments of African provenience which the Foits donated to the Náprstek Museum. The collection of musical instruments consists of 33 objects which mostly come from the region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
