Abstract:
This catalogue of artifacts in the collections of the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology focusses on items made by sub-Arctic Indian and Metis women from natural materials, such as boots, moccasins, stockings, gloves, pockets, jackets, baby carriers, baskets, trays and drums. Includes description of the travels and collections made by Emma Mary Colcleugh (1846-1940) the second woman tourist in the north (Prairies and Mackenzie Valley) between 1888 and 1894.
