    Kurzfassung: The purpose of this document is to show how to install RedHat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) on Amazon web services (AWS) public cloud with OpenShift installer, a method that is known as Installer-provisioned infrastructure (IPI). We also describe how to validate the installation of IBM container storage interface (CSI) driver on OCP 4.2 that is installed on AWS. This document also describes the installation of OCP 4.x on AWS with customization and OCP 4.x installation on IBM cloud. This document discusses how to provision internet small computer system interface (iSCSI) storage that is made available by IBM Spectrum® Virtualize for Public Cloud (SVPC) that is deployed on AWS. Finally, the document discusses the use of Red Hat OpenShift command line interface (CLI), OCP web console graphical user interface (GUI), and AWS console.

In this IBM Redpaper publication, we outline some of the best practices for SAN design and implementation that leads to optimum resiliency of the SAN Volume Controller (SVC) cluster, and we explain why each recommendation is made. This paper is SAN vendor-neutral wherever possible. Any mention of a specific SAN switch vendor, or terms used by a specific switch vendor, is made only where relevant to a specific context, and does not imply an endorsement of a specific switch vendor. The IBM DS8000® supports encryption-capable hard disk drives (HDDs) and flash drives. These Full Disk Encryption (FDE) drive sets are used with key management services that are provided by IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager software or Gemalto SafeNet KeySecure to allow encryption for data at rest. Use of encryption technology involves several considerations that are critical for you to understand to maintain the security and accessibility of encrypted data. Failure to follow the requirements that are described in the IBM Redpaper can result in an encryption deadlock. Starting with Release 8.5 code, the DS8000 also supports Transparent Cloud Tiering (TCT) data object encryption. With TCT encryption, data is encrypted before it is transmitted to the cloud. The data remains encrypted in cloud storage and is decrypted after it is transmitted back to the IBM DS8000. Starting with DS8000 Release 9.0, the DS8900F provides Fibre Channel Endpoint Security when communicating with an IBM z15™, which supports link authentication and the encryption of data that is in-flight. Given the task of selecting an architecture or design approach, both engineers and managers require a knowledge of the whole system and an explanation of the design tradeoffs and their effects. This is information that rarely appears in data sheets or user manuals. This book fills that knowledge gap. Section 1 provides a primer and history of the three basic microprocessor architectures. Section 2 describes the ways in which the architectures react with the system. Section 3 looks at some more commercial aspects such as semiconductor technology, the design cycle, and selection criteria. The appendices provide benchmarking data and binary compatibility standards. Since the first edition of this book was published, much has happened within the industry. The Power PC architecture has appeared and RISC has become a more significant challenger to CISC. The book now includes new material on Power PC, and a complete chapter devoted to understanding the RISC challenge. The examples used in the text have been based on Motorola microprocessor families, but the system considerations are also applicable to other processors. For this reason comparisons to other designs have been included, and an overview of other processors including the Intel 80x86 and Pentium, DEC Alpha, SUN Sparc, and MIPS range has been given. Steve Heath has been involved in the design and development of microprocessor based systems since 1982. These designs have included VMEbus systems, microcontrollers, IBM PCs, Apple Macintoshes, and both CISC and RISC based multiprocessor systems, while using operating systems as varied as MS-DOS, UNIX, Macintosh OS and real time kernels. An avid user of computer systems, he has written numerous articles and papers for the electronics press, as well as books from Butterworth-Heinemann including VMEbus: A Practical Companion; PowerPC: A Practical Companion; MAC User's Pocket Book; UNIX Pocket Book; Upgrading Your PC Pocket Book; Upgrading Your MAC Pocket Book; and Effective PC Networking.

    Kurzfassung: Dynamic Analysis of Offshore Structures appraises offshore structures, particularly the major sources of uncertainty in the design process. The book explains the fundamentals of probabilistic processes, the theory or analysis of sea states, and the random-vibration approach to structural response. The text describes the hydrodynamics of water waves, wave forecasting, and the statistical parameters associated with sea-states. The investigator can use Morison's equation to calculate the impact of wave forces acting on slender members such as on lattice-type structures. Or he can employ the diffraction theory to calculate wave forces acting on large-diameter bodies such as concrete gravity-type structures. Other environmental forces he should be concerned with are the effects of currents and winds. The book examines the theory of vibration (including the spectral approach), the theory of vibration on multi-degree-of-freedom structures, matrix analysis of structural response, problems of fatigue, and soil-structure interaction. The book notes the importance of the method of analysis used, with emphasis on the following: dynamic analysis, frequency domain, and linearization of drag. Two types of analysis follow linearization of drag: deterministic analysis (applied in a series of design waves which uses the long-term exceedance diagram for fatigue); or probabilistic analysis (used to study the behavior of the structure during the extreme design storm and its long term behavior for a range of sea states). The book can prove useful for structural, civil, or maritime engineers, as well as for students in one-year courses in offshore structure analysis at the postgraduate or final-year undergraduate level.
