Abstract: This three volume set gathers together selected key articles in evolutionary economics, ordering these into the domains of micro analysis (concerned with agents), meso analysis (concerned with rule populations and trajectories) and macro analysis (concerned with the structure and development of the whole economy). This authoritative collection, with an original introduction by the editors, will be of interest to scholars and researchers seeking to understand how evolutionary economics fits together and to advance such an integrated approach

Abstract: 'Frenkel and Maital provide a ground-breaking deeply-delving study of innovation systems, offering guidance for decision-making practitioners that links theory with case-based learning opportunities.'--Michael Radnor, Chairman and co-founder, Global Advanced Technology Innovation Consortium (GATIC). 'A must read for national policy makers, this book highlights the role of innovation in overall economic wellbeing and the importance of a system-based approach to designing national innovation policies'--Brendan Cahill, Partner, BearingPoint. 'Every national innovation ecosystem is based on the country's history, culture, people and environment. This book is essential reading for policy-makers in any region or nation, especially for nations such as China, in the process of developing an innovation-based economy.'--Gu Peihua, Provost, Shantou University, China. Increasingly, researchers and policymakers alike recognize that innovations are generated by complex and dynamic national ecosystems that include government, industry, universities and schools. Because these systems differ by country and are strongly influenced by culture, effective policy and research strategies require a systems approach, in which policy consensus is built on a clear understanding of how each nation's innovation ecosystem functions. This book outlines a unique methodology for constructing visual maps of national innovation ecosystems. The authors provide completed maps for six countries (Israel, Poland, Germany, France, Spain and Singapore), and two regions (Greater Toronto and ZhiangJiang Technology Park in Shanghai), along with detailed breakdowns of the policy implications emerging from each. These in-depth examples and a clear methodological approach offer a comprehensive guide for constructing visual portrayals of innovation systems and demonstrate why this is a vital exercise. Scholars and students of innovation and management will find this book an invaluable resource, as will innovation policymakers across the world

Abstract: In the second edition of the International Handbook on Diversity Management at Work, Alain Klarsfeld and his co-editors have once again brought together an impressive group of authors to provide unique, timely, and valuable information regarding diversity management around the world. This will be my go-to source for learning how different countries are addressing diversity issues. The volume will be a very useful resource for scholars, policy-makers, consultants, and business leaders interested in diversity and equality.'--Bernardo M. Ferdman, Alliant International University, US and Editor, Diversity at Work: The Practice of Inclusion. 'An exemplary work, the second edition of this Handbook is extraordinary in its recognition of the complexities of diversity management under conditions of globalization. Addressing diversity as a transnational force while maintaining an intra-national focus allows the collection of chapters to offer a processual understanding of population flows and, concurrently, a clear understanding of the diversity of diversity - institutionally and demographically - and its changing patterns over time. Altogether the book excels in fulfilling its conceptual claims for understanding diversity management at work: contextually, relationally and dynamically.'--Marta B. Calás, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, US. 'This second edition contains 14 countries as opposed to 16 in the first edition, but is essentially different as it not only includes updates for the countries in common, but also six new ones including Australia, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria and Russia. It is, therefore, essentially a complement to the first edition. The editors suggest that one of the most significant effects of globalization has been to widen the scope of diversity management as workforces are becoming more diverse, with migrants posing a particular challenge in some countries. Examination at national level is crucial as anti-discrimination legislation and its implementation vary from country to country, especially with respect to whether or not positive discrimination is a feature. Abstract: 'A very powerful, well-researched and thoughtful argument in support of the ecological versus the economic way of thinking and acting. Paul Nieuwenhuis is no "Fachidiot" but sees clearly the bigger picture. His book takes you on a fascinating journey through the worlds of philosophy and ecology to an in-depth understanding of the evolution of car manufacturing, its past and future. A fascinating read even for a "tree-hugger" and public transportation fan like me.' --Georgios Kostakos, Independent Consultant on global challenges and sustainability, governance and UN affairs. If we are part of nature, then so is everything we make. This unique book explores this notion using the example of the car, how it is made and used and especially how we relate to it, with a view to creating a more sustainable automobility. We have been trying to make cars cleaner and more efficient, but has this really made them more sustainable? This book argues, within the context of sustainable consumption and production, that we should see the car as a natural system, subject to natural laws and processes. As part of this new perspective we need to change our attitude to cars, building more durable relationships and co-evolving with them. Revolutionary, perhaps; but if we get it right, this approach will allow us to enjoy motoring --albeit in modified form --into the future. The book draws on a range of disciplines, including industrial ecology, engineering, philosophy, anthropology, consumer psychology and object-oriented ontology, as well as providing industry examples to support its innovative case. This ground-breaking book will be of interest to academics of sustainability, socio-technical transition, management of change, engineering, biomimicry and business. It will also be of interest to automotive consultancies and those working in the car and oil industries. Paul Nieuwenhuis' innovative suggestions will certainly be of interest to government workers in industry, business and the environment, as well as various environmental NGOs

Abstract: 'This Handbook is an important contribution to knowledge about employee voice which combines a variety of approaches to the subject by drawing on different disciplines, forms and philosophies. It provides new research from a wide range of national and international experience and covers both collective and individual means of expressing the views of employees in the workplace. A feature of the Handbook is that it covers not only employment relations perspectives on the subject but also draws upon human resource management as well as organizational studies. The editors are leading authors in the subject area and have brought together both established authors and emerging scholars who have fresh approaches to the role of employee voice in organizations and society. I am sure that the Handbook will become a standard reference in the future.'--Russell Lansbury, University of Sydney, Australia. 'Given that employee voice has become more important recently across a range of disciplines, this book is very timely indeed. It brings together contributions from 50 well-known academics from different countries who provide a comprehensive account of employee voice from a variety of historical and contemporary angles. Crucially it also raises key questions for current and future research and practice. In my view this book should be compulsory reading for academics, policy-makers, practitioners and students in the subject area.'--Michael Marchington, University of Strathclyde and University of Manchester, UK. The term 'employee voice' refers to the ways and means through which employees can attempt to have a say and influence organizational issues that affect their work and the interests of managers and owners. The concept is distinct, but related to and often overlapping with issues such as participation, involvement and, more recently, engagement. This Handbook provides an up-to-date survey of the current research into employee voice, sets this research into context and sets a marker for future research in the area. The contributors are all expert in their field. The book examines the theory and history of employee voice and what voice means to various actors, including employers, middle managers, employees, unions and policy-makers. The authors observe how these actors engage in various voice processes, such as collective bargaining, grievance procedures, task-based voice, partnership and mutual gains. The efforts that have been made to date to evaluate voice across a ...

Abstract: 'This is a terrific book. With English now established as the lingua franca of business, some might be tempted to assume that language isn't a big deal any more in the world of business. But the authors show how mistaken this assumption is. With a mix of careful of research and detailed examples, they show how language use in international firms influences the meaning of written documents, power relationships between people, and how individuals make sense of their corporate environment. Language becomes, in effect, a window on the entire set of challenges faced by an international firm, and this has profound implications for executives and researchers alike.'--Julian Birkinshaw, London Business School, UK. 'A comprehensive treatment of a key international business variable that we all too often take for granted. Language is and will remain a critical component of business performance in a global environment.'--Oded Shenkar, Ford Motor Company Chair in Global Business Management, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, US. 'The authors' analysis of the multilingual reality of global business expansion is consistent with my experience as chairman of a global company. Although the book has been written by academics, the writing style is clear and direct, making it an accessible and enjoyable read for anyone in the business community who is interested in the way language impacts business performance. I am happy to recommend it.'--Antti Herlin, Board Chairman, KONE Corporation, Finland. Language permeates every facet of international business in the 21st century. However, being aware of this multilingual reality is not enough. This book presents a case for recognizing and appreciating the importance of language, its multifaceted role and the range of effects it may have on internationalizing firms. Responding to the growing interest in the role of language in international business, this book presents language as a critical management challenge for the internationalizing firm. Several perspectives are explored, including the individual, the firm and the broader society in which language use is embedded. Empirical examples of language roles are identified through examining human resource management, international marketing and foreign operation modes and networks in business. Language in International Business reveals a fresh understanding of the complexity of the multilingual reality that internationalizing firms face. Students from undergraduate ...

Abstract: 'Dr. Ali's clarity at bringing forth the best of Islamic thinking during its Golden era, coupled with its implications for today's business world is unique and refreshing. In its entirety, this is a book about business ethics, and the need for safeguarding societal interests and preventing fraudulent practices and immoral conduct. I was impressed with the light that Dr. Ali shed on historic Islamic thinking, and contemporary western Corporate Social Responsibility. Dr. Ali's book provides important logic and instruction for those policymakers, and business leaders who seek to avoid another tipping point, or who seek to build institutions that are truly too big to fail.'--Robert L. Lattimer, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, US. 'Professor Abbas Ali's book is a path-breaking and seminal analysis of one of the most contemporary issues in business ethics. It is by far the most thorough and totally comprehensive treatment of the subject. In a meaningful and highly-readable way, this book delineates the thinking of Islamic scholars regarding managerial, organizational, and business ethics and how their perspectives are most germane for creating sound and just ethical systems in multinational corporations and companies. Professor Ali's framework of the book will--without a doubt--increase awareness of the ethical principles of Islam for scholars, executives, and managers. This particular treatise receives my highest recommendation.'--Douglas M. McCabe, Georgetown University, US. Drawing on original sources found in the first century of Islam and guided by contemporary developments in the field of business ethics, this book offers Islamic perspectives on ethical conduct in the marketplace: what organizations and other market actors do to deal with monumental challenges in today's market. The book outlines a framework for business ethics and offers a theory for understanding market ethics. Throughout the book, subjects covered underscore the necessity of ethical conduct and shed light on the interplay of several forces that shape ethical perspectives and morality in the workplace. The book creatively addresses the history and theory of ethics in the marketplace. It also discusses Islamic ethical perspectives in the context of Judaism and Christianity. Likewise, it outlines what companies working in the Muslim environment have to undertake to sustain their competitive advantage. The book, therefore, is of interest to business managers, res ...

Abstract: 'The Research Handbook on Export Marketing provides a wealth of vital knowledge from scholars who are experts in their fields from around the world. The book emphasizes the most topical issues in international marketing today - small and medium enterprises, exporting performance, the services sector, new products, and dynamic capabilities. The articles are well written and informative. The volume makes an excellent contribution to this important literature.'--Gary Knight, Willamette University, US. There has been a proliferation of research published in the area of export marketing in the last four decades. As research output has grown, some previous research has noted that poor conceptualization of performance measures can produce weak theoretical foundations that may eventually become irrelevant in practice. This Handbook aims to inject rigour into this debate and will act as a starting point for future research on export marketing. The Research Handbook on Export Marketing profiles the following main theoretical frameworks used in export marketing: contingency theory; the eclectic paradigm; industrial organization theory; resource-based theories; relational exchange theory; internationalization process theory; network theory; agency theory and transaction cost economics. The different measures of export marketing performance cited in the literature, together with the nature of the relationships between antecedent variables and dependent variables of export marketing performance, are also examined. With expert contributions, this book outlines the development of export marketing theory from its inception to the current day and explores the utility of export marketing theory in assessing export marketing performance. Giving prominence to theoretical approaches in export marketing, this book will provide a necessary reference point for academics and students alike researching export marketing. Practitioners engaged in the pursuit of export management will also benefit from this insight

Abstract: 'The Chinese leadership anticipates that one hundred million people will move from rural areas to China's cities between 2014 and 2020-perhaps the greatest migration in human history. Property ownership and use rights, compensation for when rural land is taken for urban development, and who should receive the increment in value (betterment) are among the most contentious policy issues facing China today. Property rights in China vary from place to place, are often ambiguous, and are changing rapidly. In this remarkable book Tongji University professor Li Tian provides a comprehensive description of China's property rights, betterment, and compensation landscape. Tian reviews Western property rights, betterment and compensation theory and practice and offers her own synthesis and policy recommendations. This is a must-read book for land economists, urban planners, policy makers, and anyone interested in China's development.'--Richard LeGates, San Francisco State University, US. Land value capture has long been a hotly debated topic, and it has influenced a wide variety of land ownership regimes. Property Rights, Land Values and Urban Development examines the role and impact of government intervention on land markets in China. It reveals that the state has taken selective advantage of the ambiguous definition of property rights in pursuit of the objective of rapid urban growth. Through detailed empirical analysis and case studies, the book develops approaches that are specifically designed to assess the extent of issues engendered by government activities at both macro and micro levels. It also presents a comprehensive and international review on betterment and compensation. Taking the land market of China as an example, it applies the theoretical framework of New Institutional Economics to analyse institutional arrangements at the national, municipal and project levels. It concludes with the implications of property rights reform to promote the sustainable development of land markets. The issues discussed in this book will be of particular interest to academics and researchers in land economics, Asian studies and development studies

The book's comprehensive approach highlights the influence of organizational context on employee health and wellness, and at the same time, clearly demonstrates the organizational pay-offs of carefully-designed wellness interventions.'--Graham Lowe, The Graham Lowe Group, Canada. Employee well-being and organizational success are closely linked. In light of this connection, corporate wellness programs have emerged in recent decades as a way to achieve organizational health and success. Corporate Wellness Programs offers contributions from international experts, examining the planning, implementation and evaluation of wellness initiatives in organizations, and offering guidance on how to introduce these programs in to the workplace. Previous research evidence surrounding corporate wellness programs is reviewed, to illustrate reduced health care costs, higher levels of employee well-being, greater work engagement, higher levels of performance, and financial gains on investment costs. Organizational case studies in various countries are explored, highlighting best practice and lessons to be learned from them. This book offers a unique addition to employee and organizational health research, emphasizing both theoretical and empirical examples of best-practice corporate wellness programs. Researchers and academics interested in individual and organizational health will find this book a valuable resource and reference point. Abstract: It has become clear that over the past few decades enterprises not only produce and sell abroad but increasingly also develop goods and services outside their home countries; a development now known as the internationalisation of business R&D. This book presents a comprehensive picture of the current state of internationalisation of R&D in the business sector. The contributors explore key patterns of the internationalisation of R&D across various countries and sectors using case studies to underpin empirical evidence. They examine the drivers of the process, revealing the impacts of R&D internationalisation on both home and host countries using both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Topics discussed include: why firms locate R&D activities abroad, data availability, quality and comparability, the role of the EU and the US in the internationalisation of R&D, country-level factors such as size, workforce and FDI as determinants of R&D internationalisation, impacts of R&D internationalisation on home and host countries. This book will prove an insightful read for academics, researchers and students with an interest in economics - particularly the economics of innovation - business and management, and science and technology. It will also prove a valuable resource for R&D policymakers and public administrators

Abstract: This thought provoking book builds on existing research traditions that make small business, entrepreneurship and family business a resource rich arena for study. It steps back to ask fundamental questions that every researcher should consider prior to engaging in data collection. It focuses on topics that have traditionally frustrated researchers including experimental methods in small business research, scale development, control variables and language issues in cross cultural research. The distinguished authors also address subjects such as theory development and testing in entrepreneurship, as well as determining if progress in research has been made and how that can be measured. Critically, many of the chapters highlight ways in which research can be both practical yet theoretically important. Bringing together quantitative and qualitative techniques and taking an investigative approach almost totally ignored in entrepreneurship research, this unique volume will be of special interest to anyone studying small and family businesses or entrepreneurship and business

Abstract: This volume presents the most important contributions of the last decade in the fields of science and innovation, demonstrating the key relationship between the two. Early chapters emphasize the intrinsic characteristics of knowledge as an economic activity, and later chapters document the importance of science as an input to technology and innovation. This continuum has pushed the field of economics to investigate in detail the processes that shaped the generation, dissemination, and exploitation of technological knowledge. The ideas of nearly fifty eminent researchers are assembled in this volume. Students of the field at all stages of their careers will benefit from reading this collection

Abstract: 'Professor Swann summarizes the core thesis of his book beautifully in his concluding remarks: "... common innovation is about how we, ordinary people, create the wealth of nations. Business has no monopoly of innovation or of wealth creation." I applaud Swann's thoughtful efforts to move forward our understanding of this understudied, yet very important topic!'--Eric von Hippel, T Wilson Professor of Innovation Management, MIT Sloan School of Management, US. In his challenging new book, Common Innovation, Peter Swann argues that innovation and wealth creation are not the monopoly of business but the contribution of ordinary people. Joseph Schumpeter, the pioneer of innovation research, described business innovation as a 'perennial gale of creative destruction', whereas common innovation is, by comparison, a 'gentle and benign breeze'. In common innovation, the ordinary citizen is centre stage, and business is quite peripheral. Building upon the pioneering work of Eric von Hippel on democratic and user-led innovation, this book goes a step further - offering essential comparisons between business and common innovation, real and material wealth, and oikonomia and the 'outer economy'. Analyses and examples of the destructive side of business innovation accompany Swann's illustration of the 'benign breeze' of common innovation, and a powerful and exciting new role for Leontief models is introduced. This book will be of great interest to scholars and students seeking a more expansive and insightful understanding of the economics of innovation and wealth

Abstract: During the past decade, no industry has grown faster than that of mobile communications, yet coverage of its operations remains scarce. This state-of-the-art book examines the evolving structure and strategic behaviour of the thirty largest operators in the mobile communications industry. The focus of the book is on service providers, who are the primary interface between the industry and its users. The discussion gives emphasis to the most prominent operators and is divided into regions for ease of analysis. Prior to this, there is an examination of where these companies stand in relation to the FT500 largest companies in the world and an analysis of Merger and Acquisition (M&A) activity in the industry. The authors also provide a review of the latest wave of technology, known as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Through detailed case studies, the book demonstrates the complexity of the industry's structure and sheds light on such controversies as corporate taxation. Peter Curwen and Jason Whalley conclude with an overview of where the industry has been and more importantly, where it is going. This timely book will appeal to academics, practitioners and students with an interest in technology, telecommunications and business strategy

Abstract: From a single product offering in 1963, the Islamic financial services industry has grown to an estimated $1.6 trillion in assets. Products must comply with profit and risk-sharing criteria and regulations preventing banks from venturing into activities with high risk and excessive uncertainty. This timely volume analyses these matters and considers the range of new products, discussing both conceptual and practical dimensions. The expert contributors examine why an ethical foundation is important and why the system requires well-thought-out regulations to ensure outcomes that protect the community's well-being. The volume explores in detail the nature of Islamic banking products and their risk elements, how the system differs from conventional banking in theory and practice, and how Islamic financial institutions are rated and regulated. It also connects Islamic finance to the mainstream theoretical literature on financial intermediation whilst exploring its differences. Offering a detailed examination of the risk and regulation of Islamic banking products, this unique volume will be of great interest to Islamic and Western universities with courses in Islamic studies and finance. Islamic research centres and training institutes, central banks and Islamic regulatory agencies will also find this a valuable resource

Abstract: 'In an effort to move away from the usual negative approach of studying why women leave STEM areas, Bilimoria and Lord focus on a number of research studies across the United States, Australia and Europe that examine why women stay and what organizations and broader societal practices are doing to encourage women's career development. This exciting new volume has much to offer both academic researchers and practitioners in the field.'--Susan Vinnicombe OBE, Cranfield University, UK. 'Science and technology have become major contributors to our advancement and economic progress. But although more women than men now graduate from universities, women continue to face challenges in STEM fields such as engineering, mining, and university STEM teaching and research. Though progress is slowly being made, much more needs to be done. Diana Bilimoria and Linley Lord, along with their international contributors, address these concerns using theory and research evidence along with offering solutions. Organizational managers and government administrators interested in increasing women's participation and advancement in STEM disciplines need to examine this collection.'--Ronald J. Burke, York University, Canada. Adopting an international perspective, this book draws on current research from the United States, Australia and Europe to examine women's participation, advancement and leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The book explores the nature of STEM careers across industry and academia, and presents the latest thinking on successful individual, organizational and educational initiatives related to women in STEM. Along with a select group of international contributors, Diana Bilimoria and Linley Lord provide a fresh perspective, based on success stories and successful initiatives, augmenting contemporary perspectives on the barriers and issues that women in STEM careers continue to face. Women in STEM Careers is a positive and insightful outlook on gender relations, which will be an invaluable resource for scholars, practitioners and policy-makers in organizations, human resources, academia, and government, as well as for women aspiring to or presently working in STEM fields

Abstract: 'Asian-Pacific Rim Logistics presents a wide span of material, geographically and conceptually, in considerable depth. Current conditions are presented with an historical context and up-to-date detail that will satisfy the specialist reader as well as those new to logistics and to Asian conditions. The coverage of logistics and policies within and between Japan, South Korea and China is particularly strong. The examination of developments in global logistics and of conditions in the extended Rim to include Australia and India, provides an interesting base from which to speculate about future directions in logistics.'--Trevor Heaver, University of British Columbia, Canada. 'This book is a tour de force on the dynamic complexities surrounding logistics operations in the Asian-Pacific Rim. Writing in a highly accessible fashion, Professor Rimmer systematically probes those dynamics that mould the complex protocols through the lens of structure and institutions. This is a not-to-miss book for anyone who wants to understand how global flows of goods, finance, information and people are relentlessly reshaped by local policies and logistics practices in countries of the Asian-Pacific region.'--Booi H Kam, RMIT University, Australia. Encompassing China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, extending to Australasia and connecting with South Asia, the Asian-Pacific Rim forms the world's most dynamic economic region. Comprehending the region's logistical structure and its institutions is of pivotal importance for businesses, researchers and policy-makers. The flow of goods, people and information constitutes the global and local economic system. Through a unique analysis of this system and the transport and communications technologies that sustain it, Peter J. Rimmer provides a framework for identifying the multilayered networks and gateways in which the Asian-Pacific Rim's logistics are embedded. Highlighting important structural and institutional features, the role of corporations (money) and states (power) in configuring global and local markets is illustrated by case studies drawn from across the world's major economic regions. This book addresses evolving challenges for policy-makers, arising from the extension of manufacturing and retailing supply chains across national borders, and from globalizing logistics services. By deepening knowledge and viewpoints on these issues, the well-illustrated Asian-Pacific Rim Logistics is essential reading for students expl ...

Abstract: 'Research Handbook on Women in International Management is a welcome addition to the literature on international management, and a must-read for any scholar, from any country, seeking to develop theory and/or research in this field. The book is remarkable for its diversity, covering past, present and future, every region of the world, and many different types of international experience, and family circumstance. Thorough and thought-provoking.' --Kerr Inkson, The University of Auckland Business School, New Zealand and co-author, with Yvonne McNulty, of Managing Expatriates: A Return on Investment Approach. 'This book provides a competent coverage of the key issues confronting women in international management. It offers a balanced view of the challenges women in many parts of the world face and the reasons why such challenges exist. It is timely and valuable contribution to the current debates in the international HRM literature.' --Dana Minbaeva, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. The Research Handbook on Women in International Management is a carefully designed collection of contributions that provides a thorough and nuanced discussion of how women engage in international management. It also offers important insights into emerging and new areas of research warranting future consideration. The Handbook commences by reviewing the history of the literature, from the development of the discipline through the current state of research, and progresses into examinations of how socio-cultural and organizational issues affect women, with reference to work/life issues and family. Matters affecting women in international management and work in diverse areas of the globe are then examined, including the Arab Middle East, East Asia, South America, and Western and Central Europe. Next, themes including self-initiated expatriation, women in non-traditional families, and women in the mining industry are explored. The Handbook concludes with a few explicitly reflective chapters by academics working within the field

Abstract: This volume extends our understanding of the many different ways in which distance impacts the knowledge conversion process. While addressing different facets of knowledge, innovation and space, the authors provide an overview of relevant topics in contemporary research concerned with the global, national, regional and local dynamics of knowledge and innovation. Knowledge itself is a raw input into the innovation process, which can then transform it into an economically useful output such as a prototype, patent, licence or new firm. New knowledge is often tacit and thus tends to be highly localized, as indeed is the conversion process. Consequently, as the book demonstrates, space or distance matter significantly in the transformation of raw knowledge into beneficial knowledge. This innovative book will appeal to academics, students and researchers in the fields of regional science, economics, sociology and innovation. It will also be of interest to policymakers and consultants in international organizations, in particular those dealing with entrepreneurship, development, R&D policies and regional policies on different spatial scales

Abstract: The strategic importance of Corporate Social Responsibility for both large and small businesses only continues to grow. This Handbook explores the complex relationship between marketing and social responsibility, with a focus on marketing as a driver for CSR initiatives. Written by many of the leading scholars in the field, this is the first collection to examine CSR from a variety of marketing dimensions and a diverse set of cross-cultural perspectives, including consumer behavior, strategy, and public policy. The authors examine whether CSR holds equal value for both businesses and nonprofit organizations, and explore what happens when businesses fail to meet their larger social responsibilities. They also investigate potential consequences and the possibility that firms might do both good and harm while pursuing CSR initiatives. The conceptual and empirical insights found in this Handbook make it a useful resource for practitioners and an invaluable supplement to marketing curricula

Abstract: In recent years, increasing numbers of articles and studies have emerged across the disciplines of economics, accounting, finance and management to examine the importance of considering both the private and social economic benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As stakeholders and their concerns have multiplied, and empirical evidence has accumulated, CSR has become a critical area of interest. This authoritative collection examines the five related and most significant elements of this subject - theoretical perspectives, firm financial performance, socially responsible investing, environmental performance and strategic CSR - to provide a comprehensive exploration of the literature on Corporate Social Responsibility and its economic consequences

Abstract: 'This Companion offers comprehensive coverage of the dynamics of ethical behavior in organizations. Edited and authored by leading experts in the field, it is the ideal place to begin acquiring or updating knowledge about the moral dimension of work life.'--Adam Grant, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, US. 'Wide-ranging in its coverage, this compendium of measures will prove a very helpful aid to researchers studying ethics in organizations. The authors have drawn together and summarized empirical measures of diverse phenomena relevant to organizational ethics - both widely studied topics, such as ethical awareness, decision making, and behavior, and newer, important research on topics such as moral identity, intuition, and emotion. Given the recent rapid growth of behavioral studies of ethics in organizations, this is a very timely work.'--Gary R. Weaver, University of Delaware, US and Senior Associate Editor, Business Ethics Quarterly. Business ethics research and publications have proliferated in recent decades, coinciding with increased public interest in workplace ethical conduct. As studies of behavioral ethics extend across disciplines, scholars unknowingly worked in parallel, creating overlapping constructs and measures. Bringing clarity to the field, the Research Companion to Ethical Behavior in Organizations provides a central reference point for academics, human resource practitioners, and compliance officers interested in measuring the moral dimensions of individuals. With expert contributions, this book catalogs empirical work from management and social science disciplines, offering insights to the varied and nuanced constructs used in behavioral ethics. The authors describe and evaluate over 300 measures, including established surveys and new behavioral research techniques. Doctoral students and veteran management researchers will benefit from summaries of the latest ethics research tools and trends. Offering solutions for research challenges and suggesting new research streams and areas for fruitful study, this Companion enhances the burgeoning field of behavioral ethics

Abstract: 'This unique compilation of essays addresses a core political economy question: how do market forces and trade regulation interact? Its fresh Asian perspective offers a much-needed contribution to our understanding of how treaty-based regional and bilateral economic integration is driven by the Factory Asia phenomenon. The authors also compellingly show where the World Trade Organization could fit in. An informative read for scholars and experts alike.'--Manfred Elsig, University of Bern, Switzerland. The global financial crisis exposed great shortcomings in the global economic architecture, generating extensive international debate about possible remedies for these deficiencies. The postwar global architecture was guided by major developed economies, centered around the IMF, the GATT, and the World Bank. Today, the balance of economic power is shifting toward emerging economies. Global governance and economic policy must reflect this shift. With contributions from prominent Asian and international trade experts, this book critically examines key changes occurring in the world trading system and explores policy implications for Asia. The world trading system, led by the World Trade Organization (WTO), is under pressure to evolve and address 21st-century trade issues. Meanwhile, economically salient Asia has built deep supply chains over decades, whilst experimenting with mega-regional trade agreements and economic policies to sustain growth amid a fragile economy. The Asian-led Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the United States-led Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership (TPP) are competing to set standards for Asia's trade and supply chains. Lessons from the Asian experience offer new approaches and economic policies to sustain growth, presenting the WTO as a forum for action to improve global and regional trade governance in the 21st century. Policy makers will benefit from the expert knowledge and policy lessons presented in this book, and development economists and researchers will profit from its critical examination of the world trading system. Undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in development, development economics, international development, and related fields will find this essential supplementary reading
