    Abstract: Mehrere Männer und zwei Frauen dokumentieren in einer viertägigen Arbeit den gesamten Prozeß der Sagogewinnung: Fällen der Sagopalme, Ablösen der Rinde und Aushämmern des Marks, Bau der Auswaschstelle, Auswaschen des Sagomarks und Konservieren der in Blätterbündel verpackten Sagostärke im Feuer.
    Abstract: In contrast to the highlands on this island the eastern coast of Sewataitai Bay is densely populated with sago palm trees that have been planted or have just grown wild. Here the entire process of sago production is shown: palm trees are felled, the bark is peeled off, and the sago pulp is extracted and fired in leaf bundles.

Den mit Kokosnußsaft eingeriebenen Kamm schwenkt er über einem schwelenden Feuer. Dann kämmt er sich und steckt sich den Kamm als Schmuck ins Haar.

    Abstract: Beim Jatabu-Tanz des Najanamo-Festes umtanzen die Männer im Gegenuhrzeigersinn eine in der Kreismitte stehende Frau, vor der zwei Stäbe im Boden stehen, unter Gesang und Musikbegleitung (Klarinette, Kerbflöte, Rasseln). Beim Jabisanaku-Tanz schreiten Männer und Frauen paarweise untergefaßt im Dreiviertelkreis langsam rückwärts.
    Abstract: The film shows the ritual najanamo and jabisanuka dances of the warrau. In the najanamo men sing to the sound of a clarionet and a flute, while they are dancing around a woman, who stands in the middle of the dancing place behind two sticks (jatabu). In the inside of the circle formed by the men a single man dances with a rattle. The Jabisanuka is danced by both sexes. Couples of men and women holding each other around the hips are slowly dancing backwards. From time to time the group stops and one single pair of dancers, of which the man again holds a rattle, is quickly stepping to the center of the circle.

    Abstract: At the time of the maize harvest the Ayaman are celebrating the great Tura together with the mestizo population. The feast lasts several days and takes sugar cane stalks. At the dance participate the master of the ceremony, the leaders of local groups with their hunters, assistants and musicians who are playing on their instruments (tura-bamboo-flutes, deer-skulls and rattles).

    Abstract: Während eines Festes werden die Trauertabus eines Witwers und der Mittrauernden aufgehoben. Sie dürfen sich wieder waschen, rasieren, Haare schneiden, kämmen und gute Nahrung zu sich nehmen. Nach Durchführen von Reinigungsriten wird der Witwer in einen Yamsstapel eingepackt, um aus ihm als Neugeborener zu entsteigen.
    Abstract: The widower Talogihi and his relatives celebrate the ending of the mourning period. Restrictions or taboos that were placed on him since his wife's death are now being lifted; he was forbidden to wash, cut or comb his hair, shave, and be given good food. The women who had worn long aprons are now permitted to shorten them. Talogihi finally goes through a ritual symbolizing his rebirth without mourning restrictions into society.

    Abstract: Es stehen sich zwei Reihen von je sieben Kämpfenden gegenüber, die sich paarweise mittels hoher, rechteckiger Schilde gegenseitig von der Stelle und zu Boden zu drücken suchen. Stürzt ein Kämpfer zu Boden, wird er von Frauen umtanzt und der Kampf wird unterbrochen.
    Abstract: The film shows part of a warrau shield-fight. On an open place two rows of men armed with high rectangular shields are facing each other with the intention to knock each other on the floor with the shields. As soon as the first man lies on the ground the others stop fighting and women come to dance around the loser. After having knocked him down again, the winner choses an other man. The fight ends when both are lying on the ground, while women are surrounding them by dancing.

    Abstract: Männer und Frauen ernten Mais. Zwei Männer schnitzen an Bambusflöten, schaben an Hirschschädeln und sengen sie ab. Alle steigen bergab zu einer Wassergrotte, wo sie untergefaßt einen Rundtanz tanzen, begleitet von Tura-Bambusflöten, Rasseln und Hirschschädeln.
    Abstract: After harvesting maize in a field Ayaman men and women go the maize cobs to a house in front of which they place them into a heap. Then they watch two men finnishing bamboo flutes (turas) and instrumments out of deer skulls which are blown through the occipital hole (cachos). Later they all go together to a spring taking the instruments with them. At the entrance of a small cave they begin to dance, move then to a better, even ground wehere they continue dancing and where a young woman with a crown has joined them.

    Abstract: In der Weihnachtszeit führt die Kreolenbevölkerung ein Hirtenspiel auf dem Kirchplatz auf. Mit bunten Bändern geschmückte Männer, teilweise als Frauen verkleidet, tanzen dabei vor der Figur des Christkindes zur Begleitung von Gitarre, Stabreibtrommel, Schraper und Gefäßflöte.
    Abstract: The film shows the dance of the shepherds in honour of Jesus' birth. The performance takes place in front of the church in Mariara (Carabobo) during Christmas time. Criollo men, adorned with colourful ribbons and partly dressed as women, dance to the sound of a guitar, a friction drum, a scraper and a globular flute.

    Abstract: Aus konservierter Sagostärke, Kokosschabsel und Wasser bereiten im Weiler Liahane einige Männer Sagofladen. Die Masse wird auf Bananenblättern verteilt, die auf Rindenbahnen liegen, dann zusammengeklappt, zwischen zwei Stöcke geklemmt und auf offenem Feuer geröstet werden. Aus solchen Fladen und aus dem Saft von geraspeltem Kokossamenfleisch kocht man auch einen Brei.
    Abstract: The sago starch produced in Kelelogeya is combined with coconut shavings; the mixture is steamed to form flat sago cakes (labia e'esumana). Another sago dish can be made by cutting these cakes into pieces and cooking them in coconut milk (labia monamonana). Both of these prepared foods are reserved for men.
