    Abstract: In der Kleinstadt Hala (Provinz Sind) werden bemalte, glasierte Keramikfliesen nach traditionellen Techniken erzeugt. Der Film dokumentiert den kompletten Produktionsprozeß in den Werkstätten eines Fliesenerzeugers ("kashigar"). Die bunte Baukeramik mit ihren floral-vegetativen Dekormotiven läßt sich an den Fliesenfassaden der Moscheen und Mausoleen des Sind bis ins 16. Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen.
    Abstract: In the small town Hala in the Province of Sind traditional techniques in the manufacturing of painted glazed tiles have been preserved. The documentary film contains all working processes in a tile maker's ("kashigar") workshop. In Sind, the coloured tile decoration with its floral patterns - displayed on the walls of mosques and tombs - can be dated back to the 16th century.

    Abstract: With the help of his companions a man prepares the snuff-drug yopo (epena) while they comment on our equipment. Afterwards the men, who all are already healers (sapori), blow the drug into each other's nostrils. They get into trance, sing, dance, and comment their visions. Amongst others they describe the appearance of ghosts to their companions, who in turn comment on it.

    Abstract: Zu Beginn der Geisterbeschwörung wird Yopo geschnupft. Der Medizinmann und der Häuptling tanzen mit erhobener Machete. Sie leiten die herannahenden gedachten Geister pantomimisch in den Körper des Initianden.
    Abstract: The highest-ranking healer (sapori) Yoresiyawe blows the sniffing drug yopo into the nostrils of two men. Then he takes the drug himself and achieves trance. With the help of other healers he instructs first a man who is already healer, and later another one who is not yet initiated. Chanting and dancing the healers carry the spirits and insert them with much pantomimic gesture into the bodies of their pupils. The healers verbalize their experience and visions and engage on dialogues with others.

    Abstract: Spontaneous trance dance which developed around 10 p.m. at Bere and which lasted with pauses till the next morning. The film shows the dancing around the women sitting on the ground clapping the rhythm and singing. The dancers extract the evil by touching the women with the palm. One dancer is repeatedly affected by trance. The expression of his suffering for the good of the group is impressive, particularly during the fits of trance in the early morning. Helpers endeavour by massage, washing his face and chest and giving him water to drink.

    Abstract: Aus einem abendlichen Scherztanz, an dem Männer, Frauen und Kinder teilnehmen, entwickelt sich ein Tranceritual, das bis zum frühen Morgen dauert: Extraktionszauber durch Handauflegen, Zusammenbrechen und Wiedererweckung der Trancetänzer.
    Abstract: Spontaneous trance ritual which developed on April 4th 1972 around 10 p.m. at Bere from a joking dance, in which women and men participated as dancers. The dance changed into a trance dance which lasted with pauses till the next morning. The men dance around the women, who sit on the ground clapping the dance-rhythm with their hands and singing. The dancers touch the women with their palms in an attempt to extract sickness and evil from their bodies. They especially takes care of a woman and her child who is obviosly sick. They kneel down in front of her and touch her while singing. As a precaution other women are also touched. Several dancers are affected by trance and collapse. Women and men attempt to receie them by the aid of smoke, water and massage. The expressions of the men in trance, particularly their suffering and fighting agonies are highly impressive.

    Abstract: Der Uhrenschildmaler Karl Straub (geb. 1892) stellt ein Uhrenschild mit dem traditionellen Rosenmuster im Bogenfeld her: Eine Sperrholzplatte wird weiß grundiert, mit Hilfe einer Pappschablone mit schwarzem Zifferblatt versehen und aus freier Hand mit farbigen Blumenmotiven bemalt.
    Abstract: Karl Straub (born 1892) is one of the last painters of clockfaces in the Black Forest. The film shows him during his work, in this way it is possible to duplicate the completion of a clockface. In the beginning the panel gets its priming, then the dail is formed and following the empty spaces are decorated. Typical for clocks from the region around Furtwangen is the rose in the arc, for which decoration Karl Straub devotes most of his attention. Apart from the painting the film also imparts how the paint is used and which tools the painter needs.

    Abstract: Zwei Zauberheiler pflanzen pantomimisch einem Dritten Geister ein, den sie im Drogenrausch umtanzen. Anschließend erfolgt eine Krankenheilung und ein Probe-Hekuramou.
    Abstract: Two men, Yoresiyawe the highest-ranking healer (sapori) and Kasiwe implant spirits into a man named Uraewe, who is already healer, but who wants to achieve perfection. The healers approach Uraewe dancing and singing, carrying the spirits with them and implanting them with pantomimic gestures. After this a man from another village, Kosisiwe, who is aspirant healer, undergoes a similar treatment and instruction. This time Yoresiyawe is assisted by the headman. Finally the aspirant dances a rehearsal hekuramou, watched by the other healers of the village who comment and encourage his performance.

    Abstract: Two women play cats cradle. 14 different figures are demonstrated. At the end of the film a third woman joins and shows the others how to make one figure. With the figures the women act in particular ways and they sing songs with partly obscene content. Onlookers and players laugh and exchange comments.
