Abstract:
Abstract:
This film shows how in Baharak (Province of Badaxsan, North-East Afghanistan), 3 to 4 weeks after the wheat harvest when reaping is almost finished in all the fields, a threshing place is prepared, the wheatsheaves are brought and threshed with a threshing sledge. Then follow winnowing and sifting, the timeconsuming, complicated cleaning process, removal of the straw, the filling of the wheat into sacks (which follows a pattern of rites and customs), and transport.
