Abstract: This joint publication of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat) and the World Bank complements the recommendations of the System of National Accounts, 1993 (1993 SNA), and reflects changes and improvements that have been introduced to the system of national accounts since its last revision in 1993. Along with the 1993 SNA, Updates and Amendments supports the implementation of international standards of national accounting and provides the methodological basis for improving the international comparability of national accounts data. The publication contains the text of the 1993 SNA that has been updated as a result of the adoption of new international standards for the statistical measurement of financial derivatives. It also includes four functional classifications that were fully elaborated and updated after the 1993 SNA was published. It also provides for the first time a glossary of terms and definitions. The objectives of the project were: 1) to conduct comparable Fertility and Family Surveys in UNECE member countries; 2) to create and archive FFS Standard Recode Files (SRFs); 3) to prepare FFS Standard Country Reports (SCRs); 4) to carry out a program of cross-country comparative research. The FFS IWG organized an end-of-project conference; the FFS Flagship Conference became an occasion for many researchers to present their findings of comparative analyses based on FFS data, in particular those studying partnership and fertility behavior. Volume one presents selected contributions to the FFS Flagship Conference solicited by the Organising Committee of the Conference. The second volume presents contributions received in response to a call for papers issued by the Organising Committee

Abstract: The Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services is a joint publication of six agencies:- the UN, EC, IMF, OECD, UNCTAD, and WTO. It addresses a growing demand from governments, businesses and analysts for more relevant, detailed and internationally comparable statistics on services trade. Special emphasis is given to the statistical information needs of international trade negotiations and agreements. The Manual provides a coherent internationally-agreed conceptual framework within which countries can structure the statistics they compile and report on international services trade. It builds on and links to existing standards, in particular the fifth edition of the International Monetary Fund’s Balance of Payments Manual and the 1993 System of National Accounts. It categorises the services that are traded internationally, and how they are traded in practice, taking into account the modes of supply of services.
