    Abstract: The Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse (SKAD) has reoriented research into social forms, structuration and processes of meaning construction and reality formation; doing so by linking social constructivist and pragmatist approaches with post-structuralist thinking in order to study discourses and create epistemological space for analysing processes of world-making in culturally diverse environments. SKAD is anchored in interpretive traditions of inquiry and allows for broadening - and possibly overcoming - of the epistemological biases and restrictions still common in theories and approaches of Western- and Northern-centric social sciences. An innovative volume, this book is exactly attentive to these empirically based, globally diverse further developments of approach, with a clear focus on the methodology and its implementation. This book examines the trajectory and development of the Japanese religious movement Agonshu and its charismatic founder Kiriyama Seiyu. Based on field research spanning 30 years, it examines Agonshu from when it first captured attention in the 1980s with its spectacular rituals and use of media technologies, through its period of stagnation to its response to the death of its founder in 2016. The authors discuss the significance of charismatic leadership, the 'democratisation' of practice and the demands made by movements such as Agonshu on members, while examining how the movement became increasingly focused on revisionist nationalism and issues of Japanese identity. In examining the dilemma that religions commonly face on the deaths of charismatic founders, Erica Baffelli and Ian Reader look at Agonshu's response to Kiriyama's death, looking at how and why it has transformed a human founder into a figure of worship. By examining Agonshu in the wider context, the authors critically examine the concept of 'new religions'. They draw attention to the importance of understanding the trajectories of 'new' religions and how they can become 'old' even within their first generation

From multiple viewpoints the contributors to this volume propose ways of understanding the ongoing processes of globalization that configure peoples and places via a politics of rurality in a capitalist world economy, and through an optics of raciality that intersects with class, gender, identity, land, and environment.     Abstract: L'état de santé extrêmement dégradé des personnes vivant dans la rue est souvent présenté, par les professionnels de santé, comme la conséquence de leur refus d'être pris en charge médicalement. Pourtant, les personnes sans domicile expriment parallèlement leur sentiment d'être mis à l'écart du système de santé, voire même d'être rejetées par les soignants. Cet ouvrage propose des éléments de compréhension de cette situation apparemment contradictoire, en analysant au plus près les interactions entre les soignants et leurs patients sans domicile. Elles sont traversées de nombreux malentendus qui portent sur leurs rapports au corps, à la santé et au temps, et qui font que soignants et soignés sans domicile ont du mal à se comprendre et à coopérer. La relation de soin en devient problématique et risque de déboucher sur des conflits que chacun tente pourtant d'éviter via des processus de négociation des soins, des règles, des traitements et des rôles adoptés. Mais un paradoxe apparaît : alors que les négociations cherchent à pallier les difficultés créées par les nombreux malentendus entre soignants et soignés sans domicile, le compromis qu'ils mettent au point consiste précisément à maintenir ces malentendus. L'auteur conjugue une approche compréhensive, interactionniste et se fonde sur une enquête ethnographique conduite entre 2011 et 2016, par observations et entretiens, menés à la fois avec des soignants et des soignés sans domicile, au sein de la ville de Strasbourg

Il s'agit de comprendre comment se construit l'engagement, comment se font les choix, selon quelles valeurs, quels types de reconnaissance y sont perçus et comment cet engagement s'articule avec les autres sphères de vie. La part intentionnelle et contributive des actrices et acteurs bénévoles est mise en exergue et permet de mieux saisir un pouvoir d'agir en situation. L'enjeu central est de comprendre comment les personnes développent ou renforcent leur capacité d'agir sur le monde et pour elles-mêmes, en particulier par l'intermédiaire de leur engagement bénévole. Este proyecto está incorporado al Programa de Incentivos a la Investigación del Ministerio de Educación de la Nación y también cuenta con el apoyo del CONICET en el marco de los Proyectos de Investigación Plurianuales (PIP). Como parte de las actividades en curso, se está desarrollando un estudio en profundidad en el barrio José Luis Cabezas arriba mencionado. La elección del barrio José Luis Cabezas entre otros barrios del Gran La Plata cuyos habitantes viven en condiciones de vulnerabilidad, se relaciona con su ubicación lindera con nuestra Facultad.     Abstract: In December of 1984, the members of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local P-9 initiated a campaign against wage and benefit concessions at Geo. A. Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota. By summer, they were involved in what many observers would come to regard as the strike of the decade, both because of the energy and imagination of the union members and because of the nationwide response to their cause. Nevertheless, by spring 1986, Hormel had proclaimed victory-and the strikers' unsympathetic International union brought an end to the strike by placing the local in receivership. The Austin strike was far from an ordinary labor dispute: For the 1,500 P-9 families and their supporters, it was nothing less than a crusade to defend the Middle American way of life. As a consultant for Corporate Campaign, Inc., a firm hired by the strikers to advance their cause, Hardy Green offers the first insider's account of this watershed strike. He traces the history of labor relations at Hormel and in the meatpacking industry, and outlines the innovative union techniques employed by the strikers, the "corporate campaign." Using records obtained through a comprehensive freedom-of-information project, Green reveals behind-the-scenes operations of the National Guard and various law enforcement agencies that proved crucial to breaking the strike. À mesure qu’elles transformeront les activités de production et de distribution des biens et services, elles auront une influence considérable sur la productivité, les compétences, la distribution des revenus, le bien-être et l’environnement. Mieux les pouvoirs publics et les entreprises sauront appréhender cette transformation prochaine de la production, mieux ils seront à même d’en maîtriser les risques et d’en concrétiser les avantages.
