    Abstract: To provide firewood Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, climbs up a tree (Sloanea tieghemii) in the mountain-forest and cuts off a big branch of relatively hard wood by means of a stone adze. The work being well done, the blade (of andesite) remains undamaged since crossfibres are carefully avoided.

    Abstract: Sinkin, ein Junge aus Malingdam, beschäftigt sich mit dem Flächenverschränkspiel "Haus der Fledermaus" (tetim aik), indem er zwei Bananenblattstücke z. T. in schmale Streifen auflöst und ineinander verflicht. Es entsteht ein kegelförmiges Geflecht. Drei Jungen kommen hinzu und suchen ihn mit einer besseren und feineren Arbeit zu übertreffen.
    Abstract: In Malingdam the boy Sinkin executes the plaiting game "house of the bat" (tetim aik). He detaches from two pieces of banana leaves narrow strips which he interlaces. He is joined by three other boys who try to surpass him by attaining a better "performance", a finer interlacing.

    Abstract: Die bunt geschmückten Partner sitzen paarweise nebeneinander in einer Hütte; im Hintergrund singen Männer Liebeslieder. Zu Beginn der etwa 5 Minuten dauernden Tänze wiegt der Werbende Oberkörper und Kopf. Dann wendet er sich seiner Partnerin zu, die sich ebenfalls zu wiegen beginnt. Es kommt zu Stirn- und Nasenreiben. Nach zweimaligem Nasenreiben verbeugen sich die Tanzpartner tief parallel zueinander, dann reiben sie wieder zweimal ihre Nasen und so fort in stetem Rhythmus, der nicht von der Musik bestimmt wird.
    Abstract: The courtship dance of the Medlpa contains a stylized nose rubbing and contact of the cheeks. The participants, richly adorned, are sitting in couples side by side in a hut, in the background men are singing love-songs. At the beginning of the dances, which each have a length of about 5 minutes, the man sways his upper body and his head, then he turns to his female partner who also starts to sway. Forehead and nose rubbing take place. Afte a second nose rubbing the partners make a deep bow towards each other, then they rub their noses twice again, and so forth, in a steady rhythm not determined by the music.

    Abstract: In der Imkerei Georg Klindworth in Langenfelde bei Sittensen werden die Korbvölker nach der Überwinterung kontrolliert und für die Frühjahrswanderung ins Alte Land vorbereitet. Dort werden sie für drei bis vier Wochen auf kleinen Wanderständen in den Obstplantagen (Kirsche, Birne, Apfel) aufgestellt und vorerst mit Futterteig versorgt. Pollen- und Nektarsammeln. Bei wöchentlichen Kontrollgängen entfernt der Imker Drohnenbau und vorzeitige Weiselzellen und gleicht die Volksstärke aus.
    Abstract: Beekeeper Georg Klindworth (Langenfelde bei Sittensen) inspects the hives for the winter and prepares for spring swarming. In spring the bees are brought in transportable hives for 3-4 weeks in apple, pear and cherry orchards, where they initially are fed. Pollen and nectar are collected. In weekly inspections the beekeeper removes drone and queen cells and keeps the swarms equal.

Er hält das Holzstück, das auf leicht brennbarem Material liegt, mit den Füßen fest. In zwei Einstellungen wird der Vorgang auch in Zeitdehnung (64 B/s) gezeigt.
    Abstract: In his garden on a low plain below the settlements Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, makes fire. He presses a split stick with the feet to the ground, passes a rotan string underneath and "saws" until glowing sawdust is dropping on the "tinder" (dried leaves) placed below. After several vain attempts (breaking of the rotan string) Uwok finally succeeds in producing a blaze.

    Abstract: After several years of fallow the garden area below Malingdam is cultivated again. After chopping down the secondary vegetation, the slope is terraced with the digging stick and with the hands. The beds are planted with sweet potato cuttings and taro sprouts. The work is done individually: every man prepares and cultivates "his" plot of ground owned by the community.

    Abstract: The bent hut of a family in Malingdam/Imarin is reconstructed with the help of men and boys of the settlement. The new house, a circular building with a saddle-roof, is built with prepared materials in one day, within nine hours. Posts, beams, poles, and boards are only attached by rotan strings. Food cooked in the earth oven is distributed to the helpers.

    Abstract: Ein junger Mann aus Munggona schärft die Schneide eines Steinmessers an einem Stein am Kirimye-Fluß. Ein älterer Mann kommt hinzu und schleift seine Steinbeilklinge. Die scharfe Schneidefläche entsteht durch Schleifen der oberen und unteren Kanten auf einem nassen Stein.
    Abstract: A young man from Munggona is sharpening the blade of a stone knife on a stone on the Kirimye River. An old man comes along and sharpens his stone adze's blade. The sharp cutting edge arises as the result of grinding the upper and lower edges on a wet stone.

    Abstract: Uwok, ein führender Mann aus Malingdam, pflegt die Pflanzen in seinem 2100 m hoch gelegenen Tarogarten: Jäten, Gründüngung, Aushebeln von Grassoden mit dem Grabstock, Ernten und Pflanzen von Taro, Garen im offenen Feuer, Essen.
    Abstract: Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, cultivates his taro garden at an altitude of 2100 metres: He uproots the weeds, heaps them up around the taro plants (Colocasia esculenta) as green manure, takes up sods of grass with the digging stick, and places them upside-down about the plants. Uwok harvests taro and plants the sprout again. He roasts small taro tubers in the fire for a spontaneous meal.

    Abstract: Uwok, ein führender Mann aus Malingdam, entfernt sich die Barthaare mit einem Knickstab. Mit der Bruchstelle werden die Haare erfaßt und durch Strecken des Hölzchens eingeklemmt und ausgerissen.
    Abstract: Sitting on a slope below the settlement, Uwok, a leading man in Malingdam, removes the hair of his beard with a bent stick of Ulmacea wood. He puts the stick to the beard, stretches it, and pulls off the jammed hair. In this way he contours the whiskers rather well, whereas the rest of the shaving is done less properly. Carelessly Uwok leaves the hair pulled off on the ground.
