    Abstract: Verschiedene Arbeitsabläufe der Tangfischerei bei Niedrigwasser. Gefischt wird zu Fuß am Strand oder im Wasser mit einem Netzsack, der an einen Holzreifen mit Stiel angeknüpft ist (Frauen), sowie von Booten aus mit Rechen und Bootshaken (Männer). Der gesammelte Seetang wird entweder auf Tragen oder mit Ochsenkarren zum Trockenplatz geschafft.
    Abstract: The film shows the fishing of sea tang, carried on at low water, when the rocks stand up out of the water and boats and rafts may easily pass. The women fish on foot on the beach or in the water, the men from boats. The collected sea tang is carried to the drying-ground with hand-barrows or with ox-carts.

Tyokossi: Kinderpflege, Nahrungsbereitung. Bassari: Eisengewinnung- und verarbeitung. Konkomba: Schießen mit Pfeil und Bogen. Aufnahmen aus Liberia: Fangen und Transport des Zwergflußpferdes, heiliges Krokodil. (Vorführgeschw. 18 B/s)
    Abstract: Complete reproduction of the film report by H. Schomburgk, Berlin, on his exploring expedition to the North of Togo in the year 1914. The film, made in 1913 and 1914, presents ethnographic documents recorded chiefly in the North of Togo. A great part of the film was taken among the Kotokoli: market scenes, cotton-harvest, spinning, men weaving on the treadle loom and women weaving on the vertical loom, selling of the fabrics, games, basketry, making of hip bands from palm nut shells, men fishing collectively, equestrian games, and a visit to a traditional ruler (Uro Dyabo Bukari IV.). Market scenes recorded at Sansane-Mango show mainly the making of leather-works (Haussa), but also salt and kola trading. Childcare and the preparation of food were filmed among the Tyokossi. Very important is the iron yield and processing among the Bassari. Shooting with a bow and arrow as well as warriors (single or in groups) were recorded among the Konkomba. In the middle of the film shots taken in Liberia have been inserted: capture and transport of the dwarf hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis) and some shots of a holy crocodile. As a frame scenes of expedition life have been inluded.

    Abstract: Ein ca. 1 m langes Bambusrohr wird mit der Machete längsseits achtmal gespalten, wobei die beiden Knoten erhalten bleiben. Eine elliptische Form erzielt man durch eingeführte Bambusringe, die mit Schnüren an der Innenseite der Sprossen befestigt werden. Durch Hinzufügen weiterer Bambusspleißen wird der Behälter geschlossen, eine Tür wird ausgespart. Zwei Holzschwimmer stabilisieren den Behälter, der, am Boot befestigt, zur Aufnahme von gefangenen Fischen dient.
    Abstract: A nearly one metre long bamboo stem is sliced lengthwise eight times without cutting the two nodes at the ends of the stem. An elliptic form is obtained by introducing bamboo rings fastened with cords to the inner side of the bamboo staves. The wall of the box is then closed with bamboo splinters, an opening is left for putting in the fish. Two wooden floats attached to both sides of the vessel stabilize the fish-box, which, attached to the boat, serves as a receptacle for caught fish.

Außer den allgemein üblichen Bräuchen und Gelübden (Prozession mit Traggerüsten, Umkreisen der Kapelle zu Fuß, Opfergaben, Exvotos, Raketen, Feuerwerk usw.) findet hier zusätzlich noch ein Tanzwettstreit statt.
    Abstract: The romaria of S. Joao d'Arga takes place on August 29th. The patron saint is John the Baptiste. In addition to the widespread customs and vows (procession with the carrying of wooden frames, walking round the chapel, offerings, ex votos, rockets, firework, etc.) a dance contest here takes place, too.

    Abstract: Mit Hilfe der Hebelade werden drei lange Baumstämme zuerst am Wurzelende angehoben, so daß der Vorderwagen eines Ackerwagens untergeschoben werden kann, dann am Zopfende zum Unterschieben des Hinterwagens. Um Stämme, Vorder- und Hinterwagen fest miteinander zu verbinden, werden drei Eisenketten darumgeschlungen.
    Abstract: Three straight logs are lifted at their bottom ends by means of the timber lifting jack. When they are high enough, the force-carriage of a farm wagon is pushed underneath and the load is lowered on to the pillow of the carriage. Then the top ends of the logs are lifted in the same way, the rear-carriage is pushed under the load and the timber lifting jack is moved away. In order to secure the logs safely to the wagon during transport three iron chains are fastened around the load.

    Abstract: Ein Girlandenmacher fertigt aus den Wurzelausläufern einer Wasserpflanze papierdünne Streifen, die er zu Kugelquasten weiterverarbeitet. Aus Bambusstäbchen bildet er das Gerüst eines Miniaturbaldachins und umklebt ihn mit den Streifen, die bemalt werden.
    Abstract: The garland maker (Mali) Ramphal Bhandari makes paper-thin strips from the root fibres of the aquatic plant kodhila. The Mali then ties the strips into round tufts or pompons (geni) suspended as decoration in religious ceremonies. The second part of the film shows the Mali making a jhanp, a temple-shaped miniature baldachin suspended over a place of worship.

    Abstract: At the beginning of the film we see the 300 year-old water-driven oil-mill. After technical details of the mill the film shows the different stages of extracting oil: crushing the walnut kernels, heating and pressing.

    Abstract: Frauen verzieren in Gemeinschaftsarbeit die Außenwände eines Lehmhauses mit Tier- und Pflanzenmotiven. Nach längerer Trockenzeit werden die Reliefs mit Kuhdunglösung gefestigt und eine Wand mit Schlemmkreide und Erdfarbe zusätzlich bemalt.
    Abstract: Women are decorating the outer walls of a house built of loam with motifs of animals and plants. After some drying the reliefs are pro-tected with a solution of cow dung and one wall is painted additionally with whiting and earth-colors.

    Abstract: Drei Priester bei ihren morgendlichen Tätigkeiten am Kalitempel: Malen eines Symbolzeichens für den Verkauf, Beten von Mantras mit Gebetsschnüren, täglicher Verehrungsritus vor den Ahnengräbern.
    Abstract: Two brothers, priests of the temple, assisted by the younger brother's son, carrying aout their morning acitivities. The elder brother, seated on a wooden bedsted on the veranda of the temple, is praying his daily mantras. In each hand he holds a chaplet, the right hand hidden in a prayer-bag. The younger brother is seated near the temple entrance on the veranda, painting on hand-made paper a Durga-yantra for sale. His activity represents a modern phenomenon: the secularization of traditional ritual diagrams for commercial purposes, occuring since the beginning of the seventues because of a worldwide market for tantric art. In front of the temple, at the ancestral graves, the younger brother's son is performing, with flowers and water, the daily rite for the ancestors. At the end of the ceremony he walks round the graves from the right to the left, then he returns to the temple.
