    Abstract: Aus verschieden gefärbten Sagopalmblattfasern und weißen Bastfasern eines Strauches stellt eine Frau einen Schurz her, indem sie die Fasern auf eine Hüftschnur knüpft. Sie legt den fertigen Schurz an, eine Freundin schneidet ihn auf die gewünschte Länge und nimmt die vom Färbeprozeß noch verbliebenen Bastreservierungen ab.
    Abstract: Namburagua makes a women's skirt from differently dyed fibres of sago-palm leaves and white fibres of a marsh-plant. She ties the fibres to a waistband, then she puts on the skirt. A friend cuts the skirt to the desired length and removes the bark fibres left from the dyeing-process.

    Abstract: Aus den Blattfiedern der Sagopalme gewinnt eine Frau Fasern für ihren Schurz. Sie färbt sie mit zerschlagener Ingwerwurzel gelb, durch Kochen mit den Blättern des Awui-Baumes rot und durch Eingraben in Schlamm schwarz. Für den rückwärtigen Teil des Schurzes werden einige gelb gefärbte Faserstränge durch Abbinden mit Baumbast reserviert und rot sowie nach nochmaligem Abbinden schwarz gefärbt. Weiße Fasern gewinnt sie aus der Rinde eines Sumpfstrauches.
    Abstract: The woman Namburagua makes the major part of the required fibres from the young sprout of a sago-palm. She dyes the fibres yellow with smashed ginger root, red by boiling them with the leaves of the awui tree, and black by using mud. Several yellow dyed fibres, reserved for the back of the skirt, are bound with bark fibre and dyed red, then, after a further bounding, dyed black. Another, white-coloured fibre is obtained by Namburagua from the bark of a marsh-plant, which has been soaked in water for one week to loosen the inner bark.

    Abstract: Aus einem weichen, wenig haltbaren Holzstamm wird ein am Bug verziertes Kanu geschlagen. Zuerst wird die Außen-, dann die Innenseite mit Axt und Dechsel bearbeitet. Anschließend wird das Boot mit Kokospalmblättern ausgebrannt, ins Wasser gebracht und dort mit roter Tonerde bemalt sowie mit Schnüren geschmückt.
    Abstract: A canoe is made from the trunk of tree. During the rough part of the work the Aibom man is assisted by a friend. The upper part of the trunk is split off in pieces by means of an axe, and the inner part of the trunk is hollowed out layer by layer; the worker is using an axe to treat the inner surface of the sidewalls, and an adze for the bottom and the upper rim. The edges marking the transition between sidewalls and bottom are rounded by an adze with a curved blade. Then the canoe is turned, and the outside is worked by using axe and adze. The decorations at the prow and the upper rim are carved with adze, knife, a large neel used a chisel, and a wooden beater. After finishing the inner and outer surface the canoe is fired by dried coconut leaves. The boat is then brought into the water, painted with red clay and decorated with fibres.

    Abstract: Eine Frau holt drei Tonarten, vermischt sie und bereitet daraus in Treibtechnik drei Gefäße, die nach dem Trocknen von ihr verschiedene Ornamente bzw. von ihrem Ehemann ein menschengestaltiges Gesicht erhalten. Anschließend werden die Gefäße im Brennhaufen gebrannt.
    Abstract: The female potter is digging three different kinds of clay and is mixing and kneading them together with some water. Always some pots are made at the same time; the film shows the production of a frying pan, a fire bowl, and a sago jar. The decoration of the sago jar is partly done by the husband of the potter. In a fire made from dried palmleaves and some firewood the pots are shortly fired.

    Abstract: Festlich geschmückte Männer formieren sich zum Tanz, legen dabei die rechte Hand auf die linke Schulter der Vordermänner, schreiten hintereinander rhythmisch im Uhrzeigersinn schräg vorwärts - kurz durch Rückwärtsschreiten unterbrochen - und bilden dabei eine elliptische Laufspur. Sie werden von zwei Bambusklarinettenspielern und zwei Trommlern angeführt. Frauen bringen Maniokbier und tanzen mit.
    Abstract: Shows a dance festival held by the Makiritare. The circle dance is performed first by the men; the women join the dance later. All are accompanied by bamboo clarinet players and two drummers.

    Abstract: Aus dem Stamm der Chontapalme (Guilielma gasipaes) wird ein Dreikantstück herausgeschlagen, mit Machete und Messer behauen, abgehobelt und zu plankonvexem Querschnitt abgerundet. Die Feinbearbeitung erfolgt mit Wildschweinunterkiefer, rauhen Blättern, bespuckten Rindenbastfetzen; die Einfärbung mit Urucú (Bixa orellana). Aus zu Schnüren gerollten und gedrillten Rindenbaststreifen wird die Sehne hergestellt und auf den Bogen gespannt.
    Abstract: Wood for the bow is cut from the trunk of a palm tree. After further hewing and polishing, the bow is rubbed with the juice of crushed leaves and is dyed red. The strings are made from bark bast and are finally stretched onto the bow.

    Abstract: A man cuts a conic hole into a soft wooden slat from the cacao tree, lays it on a pad to leave a hollow for the tinder. He vertically puts a wooden rod into the hole and drills with both hands from top to bottom until the hot grit falls onto the tinder and lights it.

Um zwei Spannpfosten windet ein Mann einen Baumwollfaden in endloser Spirale zu zwei dichten, vertikalen Fadenwänden, bereitet Querverbindungen vor, verknotet sie auf der obersten Bahn und führt die herunterhängenden Enden wie zwei jeweils gedoppelte Schußfäden durch die sich dadurch ineinanderschiebenden Längsfadenwände.
    Abstract: A woman makes rings from cotton flakes and spins them with a suspended spindle. A man winds a cotton thread around two poles in an endless spiral forming two dense vertical threadwalls, prepares tie trunks, knots them with the upper panel and draws the hanging ends like two doubled wefts through the longitudinal walls fitting into each other.

Eine andere Frau flicht aus gespaltenen Lianenstreifen ein Körbchen in einfacher Leinenbindung, das von einer viereckigen Bodenfläche aus zylindrisch zu ca. 20 cm Höhe emporwächst.

Another woman plaits a little basket in simple linen-weave technique, which rises cylindrically from a square basis up to a height of approximately 20 cm.

    Abstract: A piece of bamboo is roughly cut with a machete. The fine carving of the arrowhead is done with a small-toothed knife. After the arrowhead has been shaped correctly, it is painted with two different shades of red dye.
