Abstract: Review of Probability Theory -- Random Variables -- Random Signals (autocorrelation, power spectral density) -- Response of Linear Systems to Random Inputs (continuous, discrete) -- Estimation and Estimator Properties (small sample and large sample properties of estimators, CRLB) -- Least Square Estimation Likelihood (likelihood function, detection) -- Maximum Likelihood Estimation -- Minimum Mean-Square Error Estimation (Kalman Filter, information filter, filter stability) -- Generalizing the Basic Kalman Filter (colored noise, correlated noise, reduced-order estimator, Schmidt Kalman filter sequential computation) -- Prediction and Smoothing -- Nonlinear Filtering (Extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter, ensemble Kalman filter, particle filter) -- The Expectation Maximization Algorithm -- Markov Models.
Abstract: This book provides first-year graduate engineering students and practicing engineers with a solid introduction to random signals and estimation. It includes a statistical background that is often omitted in other textbooks but is essential for a clear understanding of estimators and their properties. The book emphasizes applicability rather than mathematical theory. It includes many examples and exercises to demonstrate and learn the theory that makes extensive use of MATLAB and its toolboxes. Although there are several excellent books on random signals and Kalman filtering, this book fulfills the need for a book that is suitable for a single-semester course that covers both random signals and Kalman filters and is used for a two-semester course for students that need remedial background. For students interested in more advanced studies in the area, the book provides a bridge between typical undergraduate engineering education and more advanced graduate-level courses.

Abstract: This book focuses on stability analysis and control design approaches for multi-agent systems under network-induced constraints. A hybrid system approach is introduced to address the cooperative control problem of networked multi-agent systems, and several important topics such as asynchronous sampled data cooperative control, hybrid event-triggered cooperative control, and reset-based cooperative control are studied under the hybrid system framework. The special feature of this book is that a hybrid systems approach is proposed for the cooperative control of multi-agent systems, which is beneficial for relaxing the conservativeness of stability analysis and network parameter computation. Interested readers can learn a novel approach to cooperative control of multi-agent systems, and this book can benefit researchers, engineers, and graduate students in the fields of multi-robot cooperation, unmanned aerial vehicle formation, control engineering, etc.

In entire book, the concept of leader-follower formation control of a multi-agent system is exploited for deriving the protocols and the graph theory is used to represent the communication between the Quadcopters. The book covers two types of formation protocols of the Quadcopter swarm namely, continuous-time sliding mode protocols and discrete-time sliding mode protocols. First, the continuous-time higher order sliding mode protocols using super-twisting algorithm are designed for formation using linear and non-linear models of Quadcopter. Then, the discrete-time sliding mode protocols using power rate reaching law, discrete-time super twisting algorithm, and exponential reaching law are presented. The protocols are thoroughly analysed for robustness, chattering, control effort, and convergence time for achieving the formation. Also, the stability conditions using the Lyapunov function are derived to ensure the stability of the swarm with each protocol. Further, each chapter includes extensive simulation and comparative studies to show the efficacy of each protocol. The book will be useful to graduate students, research scholars, and professionals working in the domain of civilian and military usage of the drone technology.

Abstract: This book describes the research progress of the control design about strict-feedback nonlinear systems. A novel gain control design method is proposed, which greatly simplifies the construction procedure of controller for strict-feedback nonlinear systems. The control design problem of strict-feedback nonlinear systems is converted into the determination problem of gain parameters or the construction of dynamic gain equations. Therefore, the tedious iterative design procedure is effectively avoided. This book can be used as a reference for researchers in the field of control theory and engineers seeking advanced methods in practical control applications.

Abstract: This book presents the achievements of the author's team in the research of a special underactuated system called mobile wheeled inverted pendulum (MWIP) developed over recent years. It focuses on a combination of theory and practice, and almost all algorithms are verified on the real MWIP system. Taking the dynamic modeling, control, and simulation as the mainline, this book first introduces the particularity, control challenges, and applications of the MWIP system. Then, Lagrange function is adopted to model the dynamics of two-dimensional and three-dimensional MWIP systems. Then, based on the special characteristics of the MWIP’s dynamics, a new high-order disturbance observer is designed, and a control strategy is proposed by combining the high-order disturbance observer with a novel design of sliding mode manifold. Furthermore, several methods to overcome the chattering problem of the traditional sliding mode control are presented in detail. Besides, some intelligent algorithms related to the interval type-2 fuzzy logic control are applied to the MWIP system. Finally, the future development of underactuated robot has been prospected. This book is intended for researchers and engineers in robotics and control. It can also be used as supplementary reading for nonlinear systems theory at the graduate level. The in-depth theory and detailed platform construction provide an excellent convenience for readers to build their platforms and learn the knowledge they need.

Abstract: This book considers the problems of network-based control and optimization. As is known, network-based control has great advantages over traditional control systems because it may lead to easy installation and maintenance, low cost, and so on. Sometimes, network-based control is also necessary in many situations. For example, multi-agents may need to communicate with each other under wireless scenarios. On the other hand, the network may lead to some imperfect factors such as samplings, delays, transmission protocols, and packet losses. These factors may degrade the system performance and even lead to the instability of the control systems. This book aims at providing a modeling framework and analysis approach for the general nonlinear networked control systems based on the hybrid framework. The proposed results deal with very general nonlinear systems and help the readers understand the principle of nonlinear network-based control and optimization.

Abstract: Introduction -- Linear Time Series Modeling -- Deep Learning AI Modeling -- LSTM AI Modeling -- Optimal Control by Time-Series AI Model -- The Reality of Time Series Learning Data Collection -- Practical Work on Time Series AI Modeling.
Abstract: This book describes the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods using time series data in system control. This book consistently discusses the application of machine learning to the analysis and modelling of time series data of physical quantities to be controlled in the field of system control. Since dynamic systems are not stable steady states but changing transient states, the changing transient states depend on the state history before the change. In other words, it is essential to predict the change from the present to the future based on the time history of each variable in the target system, and to manipulate the system to achieve the desired change. In short, time series is the key to the application of AI machine learning to system control. This is the philosophy of this book: "time series data" + "AI machine learning" = "new practical control methods". This book can give my helps to undergradate or graduate students, institute researchers and senior engineers whose scientific background are engineering, mathematics, physics and other natural sciences.

Abstract: This book covers a new paradigm of system modeling – the robust control-oriented linear fractional transformation (LFT) modeling. A dynamic system expressed in LFT modeling framework paves the way for the application of modern robust controller design technique like μ-synthesis method for controller design. This book covers the generalized robust control-oriented LFT modeling representation of the MIMO system depending upon the uncertainty structure, system dynamics, and the dimensions of the input–output. The modeling framework results into a compact and manageable representation of uncertainty modeling in the form of feedback-like structure that is suitable for design and implementation of the robust control technique like μ-synthesis-based H∞ control theory. This book also describes the application of the proposed methodology in a variety of advanced mechatronic systems like the Twin Rotor MIMO system, wheeled mobile robot, and an industrial robot arm.

Abstract: This book delves into the complexities of fault estimation and fault-tolerant control for nonlinear time-delayed systems. Through the use of multiple-integral observers, it addresses fault estimation and active fault-tolerant control for time-delayed fuzzy systems with actuator faults and both actuator and sensor faults. Additionally, the book explores the use of sliding mode control to solve issues of sensor fault estimation, intermittent actuator fault estimation, and active fault-tolerant control for time-delayed switched fuzzy systems. Furthermore, it presents the use of H∞ guaranteed cost control for both time-delayed switched fuzzy systems and time-delayed switched fuzzy stochastic systems with intermittent actuator and sensor faults. Finally, the problem of delay-dependent finite-time fault-tolerant control for uncertain switched T-S fuzzy systems with multiple time-varying delays, intermittent process faults and intermittent sensor faults is studied. The research on fault estimation and tolerant control has drawn attention from engineers and scientists in various fields such as electrical, mechanical, aerospace, chemical, and nuclear engineering. The book provides a comprehensive framework for this topic, placing a strong emphasis on the importance of stability analysis and the impact of result conservatism on the design and implementation of observers and controllers. It is intended for undergraduate and graduate students interested in fault diagnosis and tolerant control technology, researchers studying time-varying delayed T-S fuzzy systems, and observer/controller design engineers working on system stability applications.

Abstract: The book focuses on time-varying formation control approaches for practical nonlinear swarm systems. Time-varying formation control is the basic guarantee for performing other tasks of swarm systems, such as cooperative decision-making and cooperative detection. However, most practical swarm systems have nonlinear dynamic models. This book studies three typical models of practical nonlinear swarm systems, which represent most of the practical systems and construct the corresponding formation control structure. At the same time, the effects of disturbances, uncertain dynamics, random noise and unknown leader's input are considered and processed to improve the robustness and adaptability. The comprehensive and systematic treatment of practical nonlinear time-varying formation control issues is one of the major features of the book, which is particularly suited for readers who are interested to learn time-varying formation control solutions in nonlinear swarm systems. The book benefits researchers, engineers and graduate students in the fields of formation control, nonlinear control, robust control, etc.

Abstract: This book explores admissible consensus analysis and design problems concerning singular multi-agent systems, addressing various impact factors including time delays, external disturbances, switching topologies, protocol states, topology structures, and performance constraint. It also discusses the state-space decomposition method, a key technique that can decompose the motions of singular multi-agent systems into two parts: the relative motion and the whole motion. The relative motion is independent of the whole motion. Further, it describes the admissible consensus analysis and determination of the design criteria for different impact factors using the Lyapunov method, the linear matrix inequality tool, and the generalized Riccati equation method. This book is a valuable reference resource for graduate students of control theory and engineering and researchers in the field of multi-agent systems.

Abstract: Facing future-oriented aerospace applications, large-scale space construction and on-orbit services have rapidly developed. In such emerging and increasingly complex spacecraft maneuvering and control tasks, more precise control accuracy and higher performance guarantees need to be fully considered due to the need for safe close rendezvous movements. This book is dedicated to solving the aerospace system’s performance guaranteed and precise control challenges with the expected transient and strict steady-state constraints. It is designed so that the aerospace closed-loop system can theoretically meet the pre-defined or prescribed performance requirements with the simple parameter selection. Furthermore, the expected performance constraints or indicators of the aerospace system time-domain performance response, such as settling time, overshoot, steady-state error, and state amplitude, will be directly guaranteed in the control design. Moreover, this book systematically proposes a series of spacecraft performance guaranteed control algorithms based on the practical situation of the aerospace system. For individual spacecraft, control algorithms that consider practical problems such as control task requirements, settling time constraints, transient performance normalization, input command constraints, and optimization faced by the on-orbit spacecraft are proposed to achieve the precise control objectives of the system under constraints and various complex situations. For the pre-combination and post-combination control of multiple spacecraft, game algorithms based on performance guarantees are proposed and thoroughly discussed. For spacecraft formations, control algorithms that consider full-state constraints, nonlinear uncertainties, output feedback, and collision avoidance are proposed. This book provides the theoretical basis and simulation experience for scholars and engineers to develop high-performance, high-precision spacecraft control algorithms. Furthermore, it hopes that these will contribute to the development of the world’s aerospace technology.

Abstract: This book systematically studies the feedback control and filtering problems for nonlinear plants with limited communication channels based on T-S fuzzy models. By fully considering different network-induced phenomena, such as signal quantizations, time-delays, data packet dropouts, communication protocols, cyber attacks, and so on, some significant strategies are provided for various performance analysis and different controller/filter synthesis of fuzzy systems. The event-triggered mechanism is also mentioned to save the communication resource. Moreover, some results are extended to the fault detection and fault-tolerant control. The book provides some new methodologies in analysis and synthesis of fuzzy systems under communication channels, and can serve as a valuable reference material for researchers wishing to explore the area of control and filtering of fuzzy systems and networked systems.

Abstract: With the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the emergence of various new sensors, autonomous driving has grown in popularity in recent years. The implementation of autonomous driving requires new sources of sensory data, such as cameras, radars, and lidars, and the algorithm processing requires a high degree of parallel computing. In this regard, traditional CPUs have insufficient computing power, while DSPs are good at image processing but lack sufficient performance for deep learning. Although GPUs are good at training, they are too “power-hungry,” which can affect vehicle performance. Therefore, this book looks to the future, arguing that custom ASICs are bound to become mainstream. With the goal of ICs design for autonomous driving, this book discusses the theory and engineering practice of designing future-oriented autonomous driving SoC chips. The content is divided into thirteen chapters, the first chapter mainly introduces readers to the current challenges and research directions in autonomous driving. Chapters 2–6 focus on algorithm design for perception and planning control. Chapters 7–10 address the optimization of deep learning models and the design of deep learning chips, while Chapters 11-12 cover automatic driving software architecture design. Chapter 13 discusses the 5G application on autonomous drving. This book is suitable for all undergraduates, graduate students, and engineering technicians who are interested in autonomous driving.

Abstract: This book focuses on distributed event-triggered control of multi-agent systems, in which the event-triggering mechanism is utilized to reduce the communication frequencies in order to compensate for constrained network bandwidths, an aspect that poses significant challenges for distributed control design. The book summarizes the authors’ original, systematic contributions on scalability and robustness, two core issues in distributed event-triggered control. Specifically, the book presents fully distributed adaptive event-triggered control laws; as they rely on neither continuous communications nor global information on the network, these laws are scalable with regard to network size and topology. Moreover, the book provides novel and robust event-triggered algorithms, which can accommodate various frequency-domain and matching uncertainties. The results presented here are applicable to UAV swarms, automobile systems, aerospace systems, vehicle platooning, and more, and will be of considerable interest to graduate students, researchers, and engineers working on network control systems. .

Abstract: Introduction to Vibration & Noise Control Problems -- Active Control for Performance Limit -- Active Control with Constraints & Uncertainty -- Active Control with Extensions -- Energy Harvesting for Performance Limit -- Active Vibration Distribution -- Conclusions & Perspectives.
Abstract: The book is motivated by the pivotal issue: what is the performance limit of active control and energy harvesting? It aims to develop systematic design methodologies with a “visualization technique” where the performance limit can be readily determined solely based on visual inspections. Modern technological systems have evolved toward high speed, heavy load, lightweight, flexible operation and extreme conditions, as demonstrated in aerospace, marine, transportation and manufacturing industries. The associated vibration and noise issues have become such problematic that they may significantly confine the performance of the systems, to say the discomfort at least. Through the geometric representation of the performance specifications, fundamental issues such as (1) the existence of feasible controllers; (2) the optimality of controllers; (3) the performance limit of controllers; (4) compromisability among the performance specifications; (5) the synthesis of controllers; and (6) the influence of constraints on optimal solutions can all be resolved within the proposed framework. The state of the art is thus refined with a new approach complementary to those optimization-based routines, where extra effort would have to be exercised to disclose the compromisability of performance specifications. The proposed book will result in a new design methodology—performance limit-oriented active control. It was initiated by the author with the project “Active Control for Performance Limit” (ACPL). A series of fundamental results are obtained and will be disseminated in this book. The results are verified through extensive numerical demonstrations and are expected to provide useful guidance for practical engineering in the vibration and noise industry and research.
