    Kurzfassung: Was können feministische Perspektiven für die kritische Erforschung von Sicherheit(spolitiken) leisten? Die AutorInnen zeigen mit theoretischen und empirischen Beiträgen die Stärke und Wichtigkeit einer geschlechtssensiblen Perspektive auf das Thema der Sicherheit, welche auch über die politikwissenschaftliche Debatte hinausreicht. Dabei hinterfragen die Autorinnen tradierte Sicherheitskonzeptionen und erweitern das Verständnis von Krieg, Gewalt und Sicherheit, indem sie die Geschlechterverhältnisse einbeziehen. Besonders die Bedeutung von Ökonomie, Recht und Flucht wird im Zusammenhang von Geschlecht und Sicherheit berücksichtigt. Ferner ergänzen sie die bislang verhaltene deutschsprachige Diskussion um internationale Perspektiven. Der Sammelband besteht aus einem einleitenden Teil und drei inhaltlich gegliederten Teilen: Die beiden einführenden Beiträge fächern die Themengebiete und Fragestellungen auf, die aus der Verknüpfung von Sicherheitsstudien und Geschlechterstudien hervorgehen. Im ersten inhaltlichen Teil des Bandes werden die Herausforderungen einer feministischen Perspektive auf Sicherheitsfragen aufgrund struktureller, vor allem politisch-ökonomischer Analysen deutlich. Unter dem Titel ‚Sicherheit, Recht und Advocacy’ widmet sich der zweite Teil des Bandes der Rolle des Rechts in der Umsetzung von Sicherheit in Konflikt- und Postkonfliktgesellschaften. Die Beiträge im dritten Teil beschäftigen sich mit Flucht, Migration und sexualisierter Gewalt.

    Kurzfassung: "The purpose of this book is to understand the nature of social media and the impact they are having on almost all aspects of modern-day existence from family life and social interactions to education and commerce. Just as fish are unaware of the water they swim in and we humans are unaware of the air that we breathe so it is that the users of social media are unaware of the effects of these media and take their existence as a natural part of their environment. We will make use of Marshall McLuhan's media ecology approach to understanding media. It is our intention to reveal the effects of social media on their users, how they are changing the nature of our social interactions and how we through our interaction with social media have become actual extensions of our social media, the reverse of McLuhan's notion that media are extensions of mankind. We will analyze the major social media apps including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, Tinder, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and blogs. We also examine the Splinternet and the social media scene in Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam and the Islamic world. We study the impacts of social media monopolies, the nature of advertising and branding in social media apps and the social media front in cyberwarfare. We close our study with an analysis of the social media counter revolution waged by players who actually helped to create social media"--

    Kurzfassung: Was können feministische Perspektiven für die kritische Erforschung von Sicherheit(spolitiken) leisten? Die AutorInnen zeigen mit theoretischen und empirischen Beiträgen die Stärke und Wichtigkeit einer geschlechtssensiblen Perspektive auf das Thema der Sicherheit, welche auch über die politikwissenschaftliche Debatte hinausreicht. Dabei hinterfragen die Autorinnen tradierte Sicherheitskonzeptionen und erweitern das Verständnis von Krieg, Gewalt und Sicherheit, indem sie die Geschlechterverhältnisse einbeziehen. Besonders die Bedeutung von Ökonomie, Recht und Flucht wird im Zusammenhang von Geschlecht und Sicherheit berücksichtigt. Ferner ergänzen sie die bislang verhaltene deutschsprachige Diskussion um internationale Perspektiven. Der Sammelband besteht aus einem einleitenden Teil und drei inhaltlich gegliederten Teilen: Die beiden einführenden Beiträge fächern die Themengebiete und Fragestellungen auf, die aus der Verknüpfung von Sicherheitsstudien und Geschlechterstudien hervorgehen. Im ersten inhaltlichen Teil des Bandes werden die Herausforderungen einer feministischen Perspektive auf Sicherheitsfragen aufgrund struktureller, vor allem politisch-ökonomischer Analysen deutlich. Unter dem Titel ‚Sicherheit, Recht und Advocacy’ widmet sich der zweite Teil des Bandes der Rolle des Rechts in der Umsetzung von Sicherheit in Konflikt- und Postkonfliktgesellschaften. Die Beiträge im dritten Teil beschäftigen sich mit Flucht, Migration und sexualisierter Gewalt.

    Kurzfassung: "This volume is a collection of studies of various religious groups in the changing religious markets of China: registered Christian congregations, unregistered house churches, Daoist masters, and folk-religious temples. The contributing authors are emerging Chinese scholars who apply and respond to Fenggang Yang's tricolor market theory of religion in China: the red, black, and gray markets for legal, illegal, and ambiguous religious groups, respectively. These ethnographic studies demonstrate a great variety within the gray market, and fluidity across different markets. The volume concludes with Fenggang Yang reviewing the introduction of the religious market theories to China and formally responding to major criticisms of these theories.     Kurzfassung: In the course of the so-called 'economic and financial crisis' from 2008 onwards, there has been a fierce debate about the role and purpose of the European Union. It was led in politics and the media just as in academia. The economic usefulness of the Euro has been discussed, and the political implications of a fostered European unification. Most often, the state of Europeanization has been presented as being without alternatives: no Europe without Greece; no Euro without Greece; no way back to the nation state in its old form. As a result, the debate on Europe was largely narrowed down to the very questions of the immediate crisis, namely economics and fi nance. Only a few voices held that the crisis in fact was one of politics, not of economics. And only late did politicians mention again that Europe is more than the EU. Alternative views of Europe, however, were scarce and often presented full of consequences. It thus came without much surprise that the lacking imaginative power of politicians as well as intellectuals was criticized. The idea for this volume sprang from that situation. The editors invited scholars from various disciplines to present them with ways of imagining Europe that go beyond the rather limited view of EU institutions. How was, how is Europe imagined? Which memories are evoked, which visions explicated? Which counter-narratives to prominent discourses are there?

Shifting the focus away from the formal businesses and public enterprises that have long occupied media researchers, this book charts a parallel world of cultural intermediaries driving global media production and circulation. It shows how unlicensed, untaxed, or unregulated networks, which operate across the boundaries of established media markets, have been a driving force of media industry transformation. The book opens up new insights on a range of topical issues in media studies, from the creative disruptions of digitisation to amateur production, piracy and cybercrime.
