    Abstract: The field of management education and research has become an industry of its own – an industry with fierce international competition in a global arena. Here, the authors argue that a series of mechanisms has led to mimicking and thus strategic convergence among business schools. The authors further argue that this has resulted in a loss of relevance and diversity of the management knowledge produced and taught in a multipolar world. They view this as counterproductive to business schools, students, firms, societies and other stakeholders, including scholars themselves. -- Based in part on the work of SFM (Société Française de Management – the French Academy of Management), the authors of this volume endeavour to engage in strategic conversations with stakeholders in an effort to reshape the field of management studies. Redesigning Management Education and Research revisits the foundations of management research and education, suggests ways to redesign the content taught to better fit the needs of firms and society at large, and proposes actions and concrete examples of what could be done to restructure the institutional setting of the field of management. This book calls for collective strategies from management scholars to influence some of the de facto regulation mechanisms that have appeared over recent years, such as business school rankings and the race for publication in a narrow list of academic journals. This book is also a plea for working on those issues beyond the specificities of national contexts to encompass a broader regional perspective in order to reshape the rules of the game in management education and research.

    Abstract: Im November 2005 löste ein Aufstand in den Banlieues von Paris den Ausnahmezustand in Frankreich aus. Der Tod zweier algerischer Jugendlicher, die bei einer Verfolgung durch die Polizei ums Leben kamen, brachte eine Welle von Protesten und eine Gewaltspirale mit sich, durch die der bisherige Umgang mit dem Thema Integration der ehemaligen Kolonialmacht in Frage gestellt wurde. Durch eine Rekonstruktion der Biographie des Ortes soll in dieser Arbeit die historische Bedeutung der Aufstände in den Pariser Banlieues analysiert werden, um nach den sozialen Spannungen im Raum zu fragen. Mittels einer geo-ethnologischen Betrachtung der Stadt Paris wird die Rolle des Raumes für die Gewaltprozesse erklärt werden. Mit Rekurs auf Pierre Bourdieus Theorie des Feldes wird der Pariser Raum als Ergebnis und gleichzeitig als Grund einer sozial konstruierten Ordnung verstanden. Eine geschichtliche Rekonstruktion der Architektur der Stadt erweist sich als besonders wertvoll, wenn gesellschaftliche Zusammenhänge kritisch analysiert und real-utopische Veränderungen formuliert und vorgeschlagen werden sollen. Diese Arbeit ist das Ergebnis einer Forschung über die Pariser Banlieues, die im Rahmen der interdisziplinären Forschungsgruppe "Stadt und Gewalt" der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kriegsursachenforschung der Universität Hamburg (AKUF, 2004-2008) unternommen wurde. Das Vorhaben der Forschungsgruppe lag in der Verknüpfung von Stadt und Krieg. Dafür wurden theoretische Reflektionen angestrebt, welche die Anwendung des "Hamburger Ansatzes" auf das Forschungsfeld der Stadt ermöglichen. Städtische Gewalt wurde unter den theoretischen Annahmen dieses Ansatzes analysiert.

    Abstract: The Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes is the multilateral framework within which work in the area of tax transparency and exchange of information is carried out by over 90 jurisdictions which participate in the work of the Global Forum on an equal footing. The Global Forum is charged with in-depth monitoring and peer review of the implementation of the standards of transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes. These standards are primarily reflected in the 2002 OECD Model Agreement on Exchange of Information on Tax Matters and its commentary, and in Article 26 of the OECD Model Tax Convention on Income and on Capital and its commentary as updated in 2004, which has been incorporated in the UN Model Tax Convention. The standards provide for international exchange on request of foreseeably relevant information for the administration or enforcement of the domestic tax laws of a requesting party. “Fishing expeditions” are not authorised, but all foreseeably relevant information must be provided, including bank information and information held by fiduciaries, regardless of the existence of a domestic tax interest or the application of a dual criminality standard. All members of the Global Forum, as well as jurisdictions identified by the Global Forum as relevant to its work, are being reviewed. This process is undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 reviews assess the quality of a jurisdiction’s legal and regulatory framework for the exchange of information, while Phase 2 reviews look at the practical implementation of that framework. Some Global Forum members are undergoing combined – Phase 1 plus Phase 2 – reviews. The ultimate goal is to help jurisdictions to effectively implement the international standards of transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes. All review reports are published once approved by the Global Forum and they thus represent agreed Global Forum reports.

    Abstract: Developing growth strategies that promote greener lifestyles requires a good understanding of what factors affect people’s behaviour towards the environment. Recent OECD work based on periodic surveys of more than 10 000 households across a number of countries and areas represents a breakthrough by providing a common framework to collect unique empirical evidence for better policy design. This publication presents responses from the most recent round of the OECD survey implemented in 2011 in 5 areas (energy, food, transport, waste and water) and 11 countries: Australia, Canada, Chile, France, Israel, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Analysis comparing the data across countries, policy conditions and households’ characteristics reveals which measures most effectively change behaviour. Each round of the survey also allows to track changes over time and to explore new emerging issues. The new survey confirms the importance of providing the right economic incentives for influencing our decisions. The findings indicate that “soft” measures such as labelling and public information campaigns also have a significant complementary role to play. Spurring desirable behaviour change requires a mix of these instruments. This book is a milestone for all those interested by the challenging question of ways to promote greener behaviour, from policy makers to individual citizens.

    Abstract: Absprachen im Strafprozess werden seit vielen Jahren in Politik, Rechtsprechung und Rechtswissenschaft umfassend und kontrovers diskutiert. Auch das Gesetz zur Regelung der Verständigung im Strafverfahren hat die Diskussion nicht verstummen lassen. Die vorliegende Untersuchung würdigt dieses Gesetz unter Her-anziehung ausgewählter, alternativer Lösungsmodelle aus dem In- und Ausland. Berücksichtigung finden die Rechtsordnungen von England & Wales, Frankreich und Polen. Grundlage für den rechtsvergleichenden Teil ist ein an der Abteilung für Kriminologie, Jugendstrafrecht und Strafvollzug der rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen durchgeführtes internationales Forschungsprojekt.
