Abstract:
Abstract:
This systematic review tests the relationship between the existence of a prenatal maternal depression and the effects on maternal-fetal attachment and if moderator effects of age, gestational age, years in relationship and education and study quality can be identified. Methodically we proved if the use of the Maternal Fetal Attachment Scale (MFAS, Cranley, 1981) for assessing maternal-fetal attachment leads to more inhomogeneous results when testing the mentioned relationship. Multiple Vote-Counting procedures showed a mostly significant negative relationship between both constructs. Without using the MFAS, the results were even more homogenic significant negative. The tendency of moderator effects of age, gestational age, years in relationship and education on the relationship of both constructs only existed in the group of studies using the MFAS.
