Abstract: This film is set in a community of peasant agriculturalists 2 1/4 miles above sea level in the southern Peruvian Andes. Concentrating on a single family, the film explores aspects of religious and secular life. The first part of the film shows a pilgrimage to a Christian sanctuary situated close to the residence of the most powerful of the Central Andean mountain spirits (Apus) illustrating the syncretism of Catholic and pre-Hispanic local religious traditions. In the second part of the film we see a fertility rite for sheep, and the attempts of certain members of the community to procure government assistance for a motor road to the village which would link them more closely with the rest of Peruvian society. This film portrays the Quechua of the village of Camahuara as being in a sense sealed off from the rest of the world, but it also shows how their way of life is integrated with the Peruvian economy. It has been criticised for emphasising that the desire for change is coming from inside the traditional society rather than being forced on it from without.

Abstract: "Citizenship is increasingly the core concept by which human belonging is defined but do we really understand what it is? This book develops an evolutionist argument to challenge accepted ideas about citizenship and question how well it fits between political prescriptions for sociality and human nature. Though citizenship reflects a dominant, enduring political model of belonging, it has been contested from a range of standpoints such as feminism, social exclusion and human rights. Using a novel Darwinian paradigm, Edwards exposes the limits of citizenship conceived in wholly or overtly political terms, and endorses the validity of citizenship struggles that implicitly and explicitly champion human belonging over political belonging. Abstract: There's never been more discussion around diversity and inclusion in the workplace. From gender pay gaps to the #MeToo movement, it seems that every organization has finally recognized that change needs to happen. Despite this, true progress towards more inclusive workspaces has been excruciatingly slow and, in some cases, has grinded to a halt. Following extensive research and interviews at over 200 international businesses, Kathryn Jacob, Sue Unerman, and Mark Edwards have discovered the major problem that is holding back the move towards greater diversity: where are all the men? Most men are not engaged with D&I initiatives in the workplace-at one extreme they may be feeling actively hostile and threatened by the changing cultural landscape. But others may be unmotivated to change-recognizing the abstract benefits of diversity but not realizing what's in it for them. Built upon this seemingly counterintuitive approach of bringing men into the conversation, Belonging is an accessible and comprehensive guide to achieving diversity that lasts.

Abstract: What kinds of communities bring people together? How are they built? Where is unity, where is the multiplicity of humanity? Men can form separate, antagonistic, violently opposing communities. Is external division necessary to build internal cohesion? Nothing is more current than these questions
