Abstract: The Motif Programming Manual is a source for complete, accurate, and insightful guidance on Motif application programming. There is no other book that covers the ground as thoroughly or as well as this one. The book has been updated to Motif 1.2, but is still usable with Motif 1.1.The Motif Programming Manual describes how to write applications using the Motif toolkit from the Open Software Foundation (OSF). The book goes into detail on every Motif widget class, with useful examples that will help programmers to develop their own code. Anyone doing Motif programming who doesn't want to have to figure it out on their own needs this book.In addition to information on Motif, the book is full of tips about programming in general and about user interface design.Contents include: An introduction to the Motif programming model, how it is based on the X Toolkit Intrinsics, and how it differs from them. Chapters on each of the Motif widget classes, explaining them in depth, with useful examples that will help you to improve your own code. For example, the chapter on menus shows how to develop utility functions that generalize and simplify menu creation. All of the code shown in the book is available free of charge over the Internet or via UUCP. Coverage of the drag-and-drop mechanism for transferring data. Two extensive examples show how to implement custom drag source and drop site functionality in a Motif application. A tutorial on UIL. The chapters on UIL describe all of the techniques used to create an interface with this prototyping tool. The numerous examples cover the basics and explore ways to use UIL to facilitate rapid prototyping. The book assumes competence with the C programming language, as well as familiarity with fundamental X Window System concepts. The Motif Programming Manual is not only the most comprehensive guide to writing applications with Motif, it is an integral part of the most widely used series of books on X as a whole. It complements and builds upon the earlier books in the X Window System Series from O'Reilly & Associates, as well as on OSF's own Motif Style Guide. Best when paired with Volume 6B, Motif Reference Manual .

Abstract: "Oral health in South Australia 2008 provides a comprehensive summary of the oral health of South Australian residents. This publication was developed from a range of surveys conducted by the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH) and administrative data provided by state dental services. Information provided in this publication includes data on caries experience and periodontal diseases of children and adults, tooth retention and loss among adults, access to dental care, cost of dental care and the dental labour force. Information on the oral health of Indigenous children and adults is also provided. The publication highlights the recent increase in the level of dental decay among primary and secondary school children, the low percentage of school aged children visiting the school dental service, the extent of individual out-of-pocket expenditure on dental services, and issues with access to dentists and dental hygienists outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area."--University of Adelaide Press website

Abstract: In 1798, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge were engaged in a top secret experiment. This was not, as many assume, the creation of a book of poetry. A book emerged, to be sure—the landmark Lyrical Ballads. But in Murder Ballads, David John Brennan posits that the two poets were in fact pursuing far different ends: to birth from their poems a singular, idealized Poet. Despite their success, such Frankensteinian pursuits proved rife with consequence for the men. Doubts and questions plagued them: What does it mean to be a poet if your work is not your own? Who is best fit to lay claim to a parcel of poetic property that was collaboratively crafted and bequeathed to a fictitious Poet? How does one kill a Poet born of one’s own hand? Blending critical examination with jocular playlets-in-verse featuring the authors of the two books in baffled conversation, Murder Ballads reopens a 200-year-old cold case that never received a proper investigation: Who was the first true Author of Lyrical Ballads, and how exactly did he die?

Abstract: "Teaching Marketing prompts the reader to reflect on why marketing is taught, how it is taught and what should be included in curricula in tertiary-level programmes. The international contributors have a wide range of expertise in marketing education and provide their own perspectives on these questions while considering a variety of different points of view so encouraging the reader to develop their own opinion. Topics range from all-encompassing issues such as the importance of grounding marketing education on a sound ethical foundation, to focused explorations of how to teach subjects that marketing students typically find tricky, such as research methods, business-to-business marketing, and marketing science. The use of new classroom techniques such as business simulation games is also covered, as well as how to teach marketing theory and critical marketing. With sound advice from experienced marketing educators at both curriculum and classroom level, this book will be essential for those looking for assistance with curriculum development and programme planning in marketing"--
