Abstract: What is brilliant about Anderson's book is not just the extensive survey of Marxs archival material on non-Western societies, based upon meticulous research by Anderson, but also the restraint that Anderson displays in not developing the vast amount of conceptual insights that Marx throws up. Marx at the Margins has to be assessed therefore on its merits of being a survey of what Marx was exploring out of the limelight of Capital. It is as a review an outstanding success of uncovering not only the vast array of subject matter that Marx was investigating beyond the economic problematic of Capital but even more signicantly providing at times crucial glimpses of Marx engaging in dialectical analysis at various levels of conceptual depth.
