Abstract:
"The three case studies that form the core of Dr. Naumović's book provide insights into different aspects of the complex processes that the author somewhat ambitiously terms the "Europeanisation of agriculture" in Serbia. The first case study approaches the topic "from below", and takes the professional history of manager turned entrepreneur as a metophor for the paradoxical fate of the agricultural sector in Serbia from the second half of the eighties to the first decade of the twenty first century. The second case study represents an interesting attempt at "studying up" and addresses complex issues of targeted administrative culture change perfomred in the frame of the first "twinning project" in Serbia in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. The third case study once again changes the perspective, opening up issues of party politicking, corruption and state capture that are revealed in the analysis of politically controlled channels of access to leased state owned land at the municipal level in Southern Banat, Vojvodina, Serbia
