Abstract:
This volume aims to be a democratic and revolutionary tool, aimed at those who think it is important to practice medicine in a critical way and that the only teachers are the patients.This light but rigorous publication provides an introduction to the critical evaluation of scientific literature useful in everyday clinical practice. Starting with the clinical question, all aspects useful in clinical decision-making are addressed: the literature search, the interpretation and application of study results to the individual patient, the basic elements of cognitive decision-making. Each topic starts with a real-life clinical case in order to facilitate understanding and practical relevance of the topics covered. A glossary, an appendix for more technical topics and an extensive bibliography complete the volume. In the end, we think it will be interesting even for the most reactionary (or skeptical about "scientific evidence") physicians, also because ... it is Open Access!
