    Abstract: This book draws attention to what is intangible to the majority, namely an alternative version of the events that took place in Rwanda before and during 1994, including cease-fire violations, human rights abuses, killings and other abuses, all of which were committed by the RPF. The book is the first of its kind to deconstruct the dominant narrative of the circumstances leading up to, and during, the period defined as the Rwandan genocide, highlighting the suppression of evidence that runs contrary to the dominant narrative. It controversially questions the accepted wisdom of the events using a revisionist interrogation of the evidence, aiming to provide the most robust and academically credible investigation on the issue of the Rwandan genocide through an interrogation of all the claims made to support the genocide thesis.     Abstract: This book examines the relationship of belonging and social policy in a historical-comparative perspective reconstructing individual arguments in favour of or opposed to the expansion of solidarities, Belonging, Solidarity and Expansion in Social Policy examines processes of social policy formation and shifting solidarities from the perspective of the actors most affected. Using the examples of nineteenth century mutual benefit societies in the UK and Germany, and EU level social policy, it shows empirically how actors are able to shift their solidarities towards strangers and reveals the argumentative patters concerning such a transformation. The book's innovative research programme provides theoretical and empirical insights on the question regarding the relationship of belonging and social policy. It offers a new theory on the formation of redistributive preferences based on an approach combining theories of solidarity and structural incentives. The analysis shows how these preferences are shaped by available institutional alternatives, cost-benefit-calculations and identity-oriented interests, and thus offers new empirical evidence on how individuals are able to reintegrate wider identities and align their solidarities also at the European level

Its chapters provide a detailed analysis of forms of media talk associated with contemporary political elections. The approach is derived from the study of broadcast media talk, which extends here to political communication on the Internet. Key topics include: changing forms of political interview, televised political debates (held in the UK for the first time in 2010), the use of multimedia in promotional discourse, and uses of the Internet to engage with voters (an approach used successfully in the Obama presidential campaigns of 2008 and 2012). In addition to chapters from the UK and USA, there are also contributions from Greece, Spain, Sweden and Austria.
