Abstract:
The Hadzabe people of Tanzania are the last remaining ancestors of the original hunter-gatherer tribes who first inhabited Tanzania. For centuries their wandering, self-sufficient lifestyle immunised them to the homogenising effects of modernity felt across Africa. But now the creeping threat of tourism is poised to destroy them; their land sold as a private safari park UAE royalty, their hunting grounds settled, alcoholism and begging are becoming viable means of survival. This remarkable documentary takes us inside the Hadza community in its timeless heyday - tantalisingly unspoilt, a real history lesson.
