    Abstract: Der Herbst 2015 setzte eine Zäsur in Deutschland. Wie kein anderes Ereignis hat die Ankunft Hunderttausender Flüchtlinge die Solidarbereitschaft vieler Menschen vor Augen geführt - ebenso wie die jahrelange 'organisierte Nichtverantwortung ' der Europäischen Union. Doch spätestens seit den Übergriffen in der Kölner Silvesternacht ist die 'Willkommenskultur' hitzigen Debatten und explosiven Stimmungen gewichen. Rechtsradikale Gruppen überall in Europa nutzen die komplizierte Situation, um rückwärtsgewandte und vermeintlich einfache Lösungen anzubieten. Von der Flucht über das Ankommen bis zur gesellschaftlichen Teilhabe ist es ein weiter Weg. Ludger Pries vollzieht in seinem Buch die einzelnen Etappen nach. Dabei hat er die Flüchtlinge als Akteure, die Engagierten in der Zivilbevölkerung sowie die nationalen und europäischen Flüchtlingssysteme im Blick. Die 'Flüchtlingskrise' bedeutet eben nicht nur eine Zerreißprobe für Europa, sie birgt auch die Chance, in einer globalisierten Welt ein europäisches Gesellschaftsprojekt zu schärfen. Für die Flüchtlinge und für die in Deutschland bereits lebenden unterschiedlichen Gruppen ist es die historische Gelegenheit, besser in Deutschland, in Europa und bei sich selbst anzukommen. Ludger Pries ist Professor für Soziologie an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Von 2011 bis 2015 war er Mitglied und stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Sachverständigenrats deutscher Stiftungen für Integration und Migration (SVR). Zurzeit hat er den Wilhelm und Alexander von Humboldt-Lehrstuhl an El Colegio de México in Mexiko-Stadt inne.

    Abstract: This book analyzes the aims, activities and structures of cross border migrant organizations in four European countries of arrival and seven countries of origin, exploring different patterns of cross-border resource mobilization and coordination, Do cross-border migrant organizations challenge integration in countries of arrival? Are they a risk for national sovereignty or an opportunity for connecting migration and development in countries of origin? This book analyzes the aims, activities and structures of such organizations in four European countries of arrival (Germany, Poland, Spain and the UK) and seven countries of origin (Ecuador, India, Morocco, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam).     Abstract: During the last two decades transnationalism has become an important conceptual approach and research programme. However, the term has steadily become vague and indistinct underlining the need for conceptual precising as well as more defined empirical research. "Rethinking Transnationalism" does this in two ways.
