Abstract: The book explores a relevant collection of documents comprising hundreds of different newspapers regarding the historic protocol visits and grand feasts that took place in the last months of 1889 when the Chilean cruiser "Admiral Cochrane" arrived at the Rio de Janeiro harbor with 300 crew on board, on a scale of good neighborliness. The frayed monarchical government received pompously the Chilean delegation, just six days before the proclamation of the republic. Along with the historic documents from the National Archives, the edition includes invitations to dances and cocktails; menus of lunches and dinners; dance books; programs of the boat races at the beach of Botafogo and the racetracks of the Derby Fluminenses, the legendary Isle Fiscal Ball, music sheets, poems and a variety of other publications. Other authors include Chef Laurent Suaudeau, poet Sebastio Uchoa (deceased), historians Carlos Ditadi and Vivien Ishaq, from the Arquivo Nacional, Victor Melo, of the UFRJ and researcher Carlos Sandroni, PhD in music and professor of the UFPE
