Kurzfassung: Covid-19 has dramatically shown some of the limits of our cities. Labor market, tourism, service sector have suffered a backlash that can be read as an "explosion" of pre-existing inequalities. The slow and progressive process of recovery we are experiencing let us talk about a "post-Covid" phase, characterized by a forced coexistence with the coronavirus and its mutations, while the health emergency still affects the organization of urban life. Adopting a multidisciplinary perspective, this book provides a wide reflection on the multifaceted impacts of the pandemic on the city of Bologna. On the one hand, the chapters show how people are not "all on the same boat" in the pandemic context, with pre-existing inequalities and other vulnerabilities contributing to determine different individual experiences and outcomes. On the other hand, many authors illustrate how the socio-economic fabric of the city has given proof of resilience, with new perspective of social and territorial development in the fields of technological innovation and sustainable mobility

Kurzfassung: This volume presents an internship path implemented at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, as a part of the Hons. Bachelor of Science in Primary Education. The project is the result of an experiential journey closely connected with the mission and activities of Multilab, a laboratory dedicated to scientific, ecological, cultural, and social education. The aim of de Lab is to promote excellence and creating interdependencies within and beyond the Faculty of Education. In the 21st century, The future of the school, demands teachers proficient in new languages and environments characterized by the digital dimension. The internship, particularly the indirect internship, serves as the space where students have the opportunity to practice these skills through communication, production, and sharing of artifacts. Their experience and reflections are later collected in an e-portfolio, a digital product that chronicles the progressive process of each student’s growth and development. The volume is the result of the collaborative efforts of the internship coordinators, the director of the degree program, and the successive deans of the Faculty between 2017- 2021. Together they designed an innovative path within Italian university landscape, focusing on teacher education pathways

Kurzfassung: Every representation of the world, every drawing, every critical reflection ultimately describes ourselves; it defines us as people and as researchers. The text Cities suspended between capes and rivers collects the results of a research carried out for over a decade, from 2011 to 2023, which involved six small towns on the Sicilian Ionian coast: Forza d’Agrò, Casalvecchio, Mandanici, Fiumedinisi, Alì and Itala. The synthetic restitution of tangible and intangible data is graphically described in six reports dedicated to each city. The intent is to build an “identity map” characterized by the overlapping of numerous levels of interpretation: some analytical and structured, others abstract and synthetic, still others nuanced and playful

Kurzfassung: In the book Atmospheres, architect Peter Zumthor begins his reflections on the subject of the sensory perception of a place, observing that “there is a magic of reality, [...] a magic of thought. A passion for beautiful thought”. The magic of the real translates into the construction of an experience that simultaneously involves several perceptive stimulations and reaches out to touch and move something deep inside, defining a spatial condition characterised by impalpable and ethereal elements. The book seeks to define the conditions to create an active experience of the archaeological site, through “staging” strategies that consider space as the place of representation in which the transposition occurs, in a certain sense magical, from the plane of reality to its imaginary and conversely. The action on the archaeological site, therefore, is called upon to give structure and form to an idea that acts on the heritage, seeking the ability to dialogue with the context or to redesign it, in order to elaborate a representation that gives life to a narrative. The volume proposes a reflection on the approach to the contemporary use of archaeological heritage, through the reading and analysis of relevant European case studies, in which the definition of visual devices, pathways, covers and forms of reuse makes it possible to perceive and experience what no longer exists, also through the three-dimensional representation of the gap. The images evoked and the resulting imagery belong to a field in which the ability to construct a convincing visual narrative and an effective perceptive dimension is indispensable for a contemporary project of cultural enhancement and promotion

Kurzfassung: The geo-political and climatic-environmental context in which we are living increasingly affects the way we live and inhabit, in the awareness that global emissions of pollutants have reached the threshold of 421 ppm of carbon - 50 percent more than in the pre-industrial era - and that the scarcity of material and immaterial resources is advancing inexorably. This calls for an immediate change of pace in the design approach, with particular attention to the increasingly scarce environmental resources used to meet the demand for energy end-uses. Approaches, strategies and design actions to regenerate urban districts and existing architectures to achieve full climate neutrality - through technological environmental solutions articulated on the six strategic axes of energy transition, bioclimatic effectiveness, resource circularity, functional mix, sustainable mobility, and green and gray CO2 subtraction - become solid milestones to propose new models of responsible and sustainable development, capable of improving the quality of the environment through integrated, interscalar and multidisciplinary approaches. The objective of this book, the result of years of intense research activity still under development, is the construction of a key methodological framework as a reference for the definition of strategic lines and innovative technological solutions that, in pursuit of the objectives of climate neutrality, are at the same time aimed at improving environmental, microclimatic, ecological and energy performance, increasing the usability and livability of public spaces and raising the environmental quality and bioclimatic well-being. The applicative effects of the research are measured by the dimension of design experimentation aimed at the environmental redevelopment and regeneration of architectures, neighborhoods and urban districts, testing the improvements achieved in terms of decreasing carbon emissions, so as to allow a critical evaluation of the obtained results

Kurzfassung: "Vita di un monumento" traces the processes of transformation that engaged the so-called Nymphaeum of Egeria in the Caffarella Valley in Rome. The volume begins with the analysis of the historical, geographical, and archaeological background before moving onto an examination of the monument in its current form, from its construction to its reuse and refunctionalisation over time. The text organizes the current documentation and draws attention to the features of the building. After tracing the historical, architectural, and functional development, it highlights the contribution of various virtual representation and reconstruction methodologies and approaches targeted at a thorough study of the Nymphaeum itself. This development aims to portray the process of surveying, developing, and combining heterogeneous data into two- and three-dimensional models, capable of providing a critical interpretation of the monument and facilitating multidisciplinary research. The volume concludes with a selection of the most important graphic representations of the Nymphaeum, dating from the first records to the end of the 19th century. Following the issues discussed within the book, the plates integrate historical and archaeological issues – related to the study of sources of human past – with questions of representation as a tool for knowledge

Kurzfassung: Among the experiments on the quality of living in urban spaces, those aimed at increasing the capacity to adapt and mitigate climate change are of fundamental importance, as they contribute, with adequate measures, to the decarbonization processes and the achievement of full climate neutrality. Faced with climate change, the increase in risks and vulnerabilities to their impacts, the persistence of climate-altering emissions, the growing European energy crisis, important actions by cities are necessary and urgent to become more resilient, responsible, and pro-active in reacting to the sudden and increasingly less controllable transformations resulting from environmental, economic, and social changes. Adaptation and mitigation measures to keep global temperatures within 1.5°C could avoid some of the most devastating impacts of ongoing climate change, but their implementation is well behind the 2015 roadmap : if average temperatures were to reach an increase of 2°C, the ecosystems currently considered vulnerable would significantly increase the probability of extinction, increasing it exponentially with a reaching of 3°C. A serious decarbonization operation of cities and urban districts therefore becomes of fundamental importance. This book shows the results of design experiments, carried out or underway in Northern and Central Europe, deriving from two major research projects carried out, one at a national level (PRIN), the other within a European framework (Green City Network) on projects of urban districts and eco-districts, with a final selection of over forty case studies in Northern and Central Europe, which work on the systematization of the six strategic axes that mark the path towards climate neutrality: energy transition, bioclimatic effectiveness, circularity of resources, functional mix, sustainable mobility, and green and gray CO2 subtraction. Axes that are followed with a planning perspective through the improvements achieved in terms of decarbonization in the context of the adoption of the technological-environmental solutions found, with the aim of defining new inter-scalar, multidisciplinary, responsible, and sustainable development protocols

Kurzfassung: This book explores the processes through which particular places take shape in the imaginaries, perceptions and narratives of people who do not inhabit them, or who have inhabited them only recently. The ways in which we imagine the elsewhere are the product of stories collectively constructed and reproduced by a multiplicity of actors and through a variety of communicative tools and practices. These narratives shape our perceptions of others, the way we relate to them, and the politics that regulate cohabitation on Earth. In this book, the elsewhere becomes a device for exploring some of the ways in which human beings interact with each other, establish distinctions and alliances, trace borders, and enact change in the epoch of the Anthropocene. Through four phenomenologies of the elsewhere (Europe, Africa, the transnational space, climate change), the author reflects on the opportunity to decentralize one’s own gaze, in time and space, in order to imagine other ways of worldmaking

Kurzfassung: The administration of metropolitan cities is a complicated issue that, in every country, has forced legislators and interpreters to face problems previously unseen. This complexity, descending by the uniqueness of those places, imposes to law scholars an analysis not limited to the study of their necessarily differentiated forms of government and management. Moving beyond the mere consideration of the material element of the Territory and it’s role in identifying the voters community, it’s necessary to explore and understand the cutting-edge dynamics that agitate in urban centers: assuming this point of view, the book debates, also in a comparative and historical perspective, what is here labeled as “the metropolitan issue”. Starting from the unresolved determination of their role in a multilevel system, here is scrutinized the actual legal framework of these local authorities, situated in an intermediate position between regions and municipal bodies, offering a review of the possible alternative interpretations, but holding firm the idea of metropolitan cities as aimed primarily at the strategic planning of the economic and social development of the whole area. The result is their characterization as systemic entities, more capable of relationships than regulation, whose autonomy has been attributed and has to be interpreted and evaluated in the key of efficiency in performances and satisfaction of those who live and work in those places

Kurzfassung: Regenerating and transforming urban areas and cities into resilient, sustainable, and flexible organisms represent the key conditions for sustainable, resilient, and no longer postponable planning. The ongoing debate, which involves political authorities and civil society, raises the need to act by changing the vision of the quality of living towards actions of regeneration and redevelopment of urban, intermediate and proximity spaces in order to promote social integration and support local micro-activities: in this sense the need to intervene on the connective aspects, on the bioclimatic and energetic behavior of building aggregates capable of adapting to increasingly frequent climate changes becomes crucial. The quality of living in these urban spaces defines a strategic importance to incentivize solutions and good practices for the mitigation of climate change, with targeted actions for the decarbonization of anthropic processes. The objectives, set by law, of a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and the achievement of net zero GHG emissions in 2050 are still far away today, also considering a rather weak response coming from the latest Conferences of the Parties (COP). The careful and targeted selection of case studies proposed in this book, the result of intense research activity still underway, derives from a larger research carried out in the European framework of urban district and eco-neighborhood projects for the construction of the Verso report the climate neutrality of green cities: the result is a final selection of over thirty case studies in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean area, which work on the systematization of the six thematic axes such as energy transition, bioclimatic effectiveness, circularity of resources, functional mix, sustainable mobility and green and gray CO2 subtraction. These become the milestones for analyzing neighbourhoods, districts and cities created and in progress, as they illustrate the improvements achieved in terms of reducing carbon emissions within the individual technological-environmental solutions found, with the aim of defining new protocols for responsible and sustainable development, interscalar and multidisciplinary

Kurzfassung: This book brings together the results of a research focused on the quality and satisfaction on primary school canteens and, above all, on the impact they have on the eating habits of the children in Rimini and also their families. For many years, Rimini has been a virtuous city in the field of promoting healthy lifestyles, starting from primary school. Indeed, there are many acknowledgements obtained by Rimini school canteens for the quality of the food offered and its 'bio-respectability'. Rimini Municipality promotes the use of organic food in school canteens. A cutting-edge service that does not end at the moment of food consumption. Rimini's children present fewer eating disorders compared at the other children of the Emilia-Romagna area. Their well-being, therefore, is also analysed on the basis of 'secondary' effects such as the time of exposure to obesogenic factors that affect the future life course and the 'family space' which, through a socio-economic conditioning, affects opportunities for healthy growth. The results are encouraging, however it is crucial to maintain a high focus on this delicate and vulnerable period of life, in which it is necessary to create the context for healthy and virtuous choices that will release their effects throughout the child life

Kurzfassung: Food security, understood in its broadest sense as the ‘right to food’, is a fundamental right preordained to respect for life itself. No human being can be guaranteed the right to life if, at the same time, the need for qualitatively and quantitatively sufficient food is not respected. This is a value of food which, in the integrated and interdisciplinary methodological perspective embraced in this book, combines the existential dimension of food with reasoning oriented towards elaborating political choices of intervention. This approach highlights the limits of a socio-economic model that continues to move within a paradigm far removed from the logic of sustainable consumption and respect for fundamental rights

Kurzfassung: Perspective restitution is the inverse process of perspective and is therefore rooted in descriptive geometry; when this technique is applied to the restitution of dimensions from photos, it enters the territories of photogrammetry. The position on the border between two disciplines, different but related, has caused the solitude of perspective restitution from photos: rarely mentioned in studies on descriptive geometry, it is completely ignored in those dedicated to photogrammetry. Yet, perspective restitution is the only tool that allows us to reconstruct, from a single image, the 3D layout of a building. In his 1930 book dedicated to 'Metrophotography', Henri Deneux had highlighted, probably for the first time, the possibility of reconstructing, from a single photo, buildings or parts of them damaged by war events (Deneux referred to monuments damaged by the bombings of World War I). Today, digital drawing and modelling tools enable us to overcome many of the difficulties that affected perspective restitution from photos with traditional drawing tools. This volume illustrates the theoretical assumptions and the drawing and modelling techniques that allow us to achieve the 3D reconstruction of buildings and urban scenarios that no longer exist from one or few images

Kurzfassung: Debt finance raised from corporate insiders has attracted the attention of legal scholars over the past several years. Such an interest comes as no surprise. The variety of legal treatments reserved for insider loans across Europe, the United States and in other jurisdictions attests to an intriguing absence of any regulatory uniformity despite similar financing patterns. After reviewing the literature on the benefits and costs of inside debt financing and illustrating the diverse regulatory approaches adopted by prominent jurisdictions, the book reassesses the risk of opportunistic insider lending based on the state of a company’s finances. In doing so, the book sheds light on the net costs associated with financially sound firms issuing senior debt, whether secured or unsecured, to their insiders and, by contrast, the net benefits of allowing insiders to make senior unsecured loans to firms that are in or near insolvency. Following the reexamination of the benefits and costs of insider lending, novel requirements are recommended for an efficient and fair legal response to inside debt as a source of funding for both solvent firms and financially-distressed ones

Kurzfassung: If it is true that no one is able to predict the future scenarios in which new generations will need to move, it is also true that we can at least try to hypothesise how to 'equip' them to undertake the great journey towards and through those scenarios. The hypothesis proposed in this volume is that the 'backpack' of the 'traveller towards possible futures' cannot be without two essential tools: firstly, the ability to self-direct and self-regulate one's own continuous learning, enabling and enhancing it with the aid of increasingly advanced technologies; and secondly, knowing how to grasp the peculiarities of the new interaction spaces that are coming into being thanks to those technologies. What can the world of education do in this regard, from this day forward? Certainly not limit itself to dispensing knowledge but rather devote the appropriate amount of time to training students in the mental habit of constantly relocating their learning process in the scenarios and situations that can arise in everyday life on a personal, professional and social level: scenarios and situations that will increasingly develop in so-called hybrid spaces, produced by the intermingling of real and digital spaces and in which formal, non-formal and informal learning processes also tend to merge naturally. This volume discusses hybrid spaces and in particular their capacity to offer an ideal context for seamless learning, i.e. a seamless learning process that goes beyond the traditional patterns of formal education and helps students to become protagonists of their own future

Kurzfassung: Childhood obesity is an endemic, growing and worrying phenomenon driven by multiple and interdependent causes. It is, therefore, one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century, both from a medical and social point of view. In fact, according to sociological life course approach, childhood and early adolescence years have a great influence on a person's future health. This work, based on solid empirical research conducted in Rimini, highlights the role that diet and lifestyle play in the mechanisms that lead to weight excess among primary school children, also including dimensions related to stigma, body perception and the relationship between the vulnerable population and body weight. In particular, through a sociological lens, it is shown how educational policies aimed at healthy lifestyles can steer children and families towards a balanced diet

Kurzfassung: This volume concerns the role of the Italian schools, the associations and their actors to counteract educational dispersion and encourage the inclusion of minors with a migratory background. The work is part of a collaboration project between Inapp (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and Aiig (Italian Association of Geography Teachers) aimed to map the “Analysis, training and territorial activities for preventing/countering the risks of educational dispersion of young people with a migratory background” (June 2022 - March 2023). This collaboration stems from a program agreement between Inapp and Ministry of Labor and Social Policies - General Directorate of Immigration, on “Citizen Integration Policies of Third Countries”. The first part, focused on theoretical aspects, develops the idea of a school as welcoming community, in which disciplines such as geography and tools such as digital teaching can be significant resources to draw on. Related to this, a specific focus on the socio-cultural development in the border and internal areas is underlined. The second part collects the empirical evidences emerging from some territorial laboratories and training courses organized by Inapp and Aiig in various Italian regions. These evidences represent the main results of a qualitative survey on risks of educational dropout of young people with a migratory background. A wealth of proposals together with successful and critical factors is unraveled. In the last section of the volume, these various and original practices are reported by teachers, school managers, and operators, representatives of voluntary organisations, associations and third sector. The idea was to carry out the research not on the actors of inclusion, but with them, giving voice to their experiences. It was a sort of an ideal journey from the north of Italy, where the presence of students with a migratory background is higher, to the south, considered the land of their arrival and transit

Kurzfassung: This essay focuses on light and theories of combustion in the late 18th century. But it does so “on the nitrogen side”: that is, on the side of those inert three-quarters of air that do not contribute to respiration and, therefore, do not trigger the light-emitting response of phosphorus in experiments. In analyzing the variety of opinions broadly (and imprecisely) ascribable to the “Lavoisierian-Phlogistonist” dispute, this book sheds special light on the non-Lavoisierian German context where Johann Friedrich August Göttling performed his tests on phosphorus and nitrogen – and, subsequently, on Lazzaro Spallanzani’s crucial role in the debate. The book pays attention to theories, but it also deals with experimental practice. Therefore, it tells a story of procedures and instruments: in fact, it was especially on this tricky field that the understanding of the phosphorus-nitrogen relationship was achieved. In reading these pages, we shall meet the great heroes of early chemistry as well as the “artisans of innovation” who gave substantial contributions to the advancement of their discipline: a rich fresco that gives us a clear idea of the complexity of the methodological debate at the turn of the century, and of how widespread scientific activity was at that time

Kurzfassung: The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the Italian healthcare system. The pandemic not only caused the enactment of extraordinary tools that severely restricted people's freedoms to counteract the spread of the virus, but it also raised the question of the reasons of the very high number of victims, among the highest in the world. Among the causes of the spread of the virus are unpreparedness of the Italian authorities, failure to update the national pandemic plan, lack of coordination amongst the public authorities involved, failure to prepare adequate stocks of medical devices and related supply problems; but also problems that have long been highlighted, such as the lack of attention to primary and local care, to general medicine, to hygiene and occupational medicine. The research aims to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the national health system and the reaction of the Italian system to the pandemic, to verify recent developments (especially those being financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan), to propose tools and actions to be able to adequately deal with future health emergencies

Kurzfassung: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events. The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction

Kurzfassung: The reception of Seneca’s Tragedies had a crucial moment during the 14th and early 15th centuries. In this period, after their recent rediscovery but before the extraordinary circulation across Europe in the Renaissance, Seneca’s plays attracted the attention of scholars and poets, and also of some exegetes who taught in Italian universities and schools. These cultural places represented a formidable medium for the dissemination of the Tragedies and the exegetical materials produced around them. In particular, an important role was played by Petrarch and Boccaccio, who read Tragedies and evoked them in their works, but also by some exegetes-professors such as Giovanni del Virgilio, Pietro da Moglio, Domenico Bandini, Bartolomeo del Regno and Petrus Parmensis, who focused their commentaries and lectures on Seneca’s plays. So, at first, this volume recalls the narrow spread of Seneca’s Tragedies up to Early Middle Ages, and examines their rediscovery, that was realized by Nicolaus Trevet and Paduan prehuminists Lovato de’ Lovati and Albertino Mussato, but which took place also in Tuscany and Bologna. Then, the book analyses the philological and interpretative reception of the Tragedies by Petrarch and Boccaccio, and the allusions to Seneca’s plays in the Expositio on Ovid’s Metamorphoses by Bolognese professor Giovanni del Virgilio, who may have influenced Petrarch. Furthermore, great attention is paid to the exegetic activity of Pietro da Moglio, professor in Bologna and Padua and author of poetic summaries of the Tragedies that were very popular. In detail, the volume contains a new edition of these text, which updates Giuseppe Billanovich’s edition on the basis of many recently rediscovered manuscripts. Then, the book explores the interest in Tragedies shown by Domenico Bandini, teacher in Bologna and Tuscany and close friend of Coluccio Salutati. A pupil of the latter, Lorenzo Ridolfi, in his youth wrote – almost certainly on Salutati’s advice – a proem and some original summaries of the Tragedies, an edition of which is offered in this volume for the first time. New investigations are also focused on the exegetical activity of Bartolomeo del Regno, student of Pietro da Moglio and professor in Bologna, and on an important manuscript of the Tragedies linked to him. Good attention is also given to the original glosses on the Tragedies written by Petrus Parmensis in a manuscript adorned with elegant miniatures, that show special features compared to the illustrations in other codices and textual commentaries composed by Trevet and Mussato. This continuous exegesis, multifaceted and also open to dialogue with the art of illumination, represented an indispensable point of reference for the pupils of such professors, including Coluccio Salutati, Francesco da Fiano and Francesco Piendibeni da Montepulciano, who were students of Pietro da Moglio before becoming humanists. After all, the book underlines that Francesco da Fiano and Francesco Piendibeni knew Seneca’s dramas, but also analyses the manuscript of Tragedies copied and annotated by Coluccio Salutati and lists all quotations from this plays in his Epistolary and De laboribus Herculis. Therefore, the ways followed by exegesis and fortune of Tragedies in the 14th century and at dawn of 15th, analyzed in this volume, offer an example of the multiple routes of the text’s tradition, but also an eloquent paradigm of the fact that Middle Ages and Humanism, far from being conceived as historical categories, in this era could productively dialogue on the level of hermeneutics and dissemination of knowledge

Kurzfassung: The book traces the main stages of third mission and social impact assessment, in the context of the (recent) history of higher education and research assessment in Italy, starting with a review of the transformation of the relationship between the University and the society. Several social drives are leading the university to a series of transformations, at the national, European and international level. The requirement to use transparency criteria and the associated returns of research spending (in accountability) has become a fundamental issue in informing government, business, citizens and society on the achieved results. The introduction of social impact assessment frameworks is also advancing research agendas towards socially relevant domains, to provide solutions in international competitiveness, social welfare, sustainability and other grand challenges. A terminological and conceptual shift is occurring from a traditional concept of technology transfer and third mission towards a broader meaning of knowledge exchange and co-creation between universities and extra-academic actors and the impact generated. However, this shift towards a transdisciplinary, trans-epistemic and inclusive evaluation framework poses new challenges to capture this complexity, requiring the adoption of new methods and tools presented in this book. The international literature and debate on practices are vital combined with trial-and-error approaches, community involvement, and targeted pilot studies. Beyond controversies, resistances, and easily contrived enthusiasms, this is what this volume tries to investigate

Kurzfassung: Literary writing has always found correspondences in oral performance. One could even think of writing a history of literature 'sub specie vocis'. However, it is with the technological innovations of the 20th century that this link experiences a new fortune, flanking its multiple aesthetic declinations with a growing scientific interest. The volume “The Forms of the Voice” is composed of several essays dedicated to the fraction of contemporary imagery that re-appropriates the sound dimension of poetry as well as prose. Bringing together theoretical reflection, historical and cultural description and philological analysis of case studies, these works articulate a reflection on the different expressions of the relationship between literature and orality in the second half of the 20th century

Kurzfassung: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. Kurzfassung: This book explores the link between gender and urban space, attempting to incorporate a joyful activism into geographical research and embracing forms of ""self-awareness and self-ignorance"" (Harding 1992) to reconsider established theoretical and methodological approaches and enact research practices informed by liberatory politics (Federici 2023). The author worked together with transfeminist activists in Cagliari and Brussels, socialised as white and cisgender women as her, to observe the urban space by considering the intersection between gender oppression and the privilege of whiteness and cisgenderness. The result is a deeply reflexive book, because the theory it contains is conceived out of the personal experiences and individual histories of the people involved and is marked by a constant questioning of the author's presence and limits; joyful, because it chooses the path of attention by focusing on the relationships between the people involved and embracing feminist practices of parody; political, because it offers both individual and collective representations that express how power relations work in urban space. Parody is the feminist practice for a joyful geography that the author and participants chose to critically imitate discrimination and create three collaborative short films, entitled: ""By Bike She Lives"", on the right to slowness from a feminist perspective; ""Urban Piss-Ups"", on the act of urinating in public space as a metaphor for the right to the city; and finally ""Freedom for Jeanneke-Pis"", on the symbolism associated with sexist public representations. While the individual cartographies contribute to a theoretical discourse on the city, the films are suitable for public debate, to be discussed, disseminated and used to exercise the right to critique, the right to ask questions and to imagine, think and share urban scenarios other than the existing ones

Schlagwort(e): Care of the elderly ; EU & European institutions ; active ageing, age-friendly city, ageism, elderly, independent living, welfare
Kurzfassung: For the elderly, the right to choose where and with whom to live takes on special significance: it is related to the overcoming of ageism, of which both paternalism and a segregationist and institutionalizing approach to old age are part. Nevertheless, so far, the multilevel politics concerning active and healthy aging, the right to independent living, the ageing in place and the transition to ""new"" models of welfare have not really been able to remedy the exclusion experienced by many older people socially and in the urban context. For this reason, the elderly’s right to the (age-friendly) city is still, at least in part, not adequately guaranteed. The essays collected in this volume are the outcome of an interdisciplinary research focused primarily on the municipality of Ferrara (one of the Italian cities most affected by population aging) but have also a more general relevance. They aim at reflecting on the complex intertwining of the needs and rights of the elderly population and, in particular, on their right to lead a life of dignity and independence (also) within the urban context

Schlagwort(e): Sociology ; Social discrimination & inequality ; Consumption, energy crisis, resilience, economic conditions of households, personal networks of support and consumption, principles of social justice
Kurzfassung: Despite the pandemic is fortunately only a memory, and we hope it remains so, other clouds have meanwhile been gathering on the horizon of our households: war in Ukraine and resumption of inflation, to name but two. The Household consumption monitoring centre at the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Verona, in this new wave of its national survey on consumption in Italy, must once again come to terms with the general impoverishment and the daily difficulties of families. The group of people struggling to make ends meet has, in fact, widened, and strategies for increasingly careful comparison of both purchases and consumption have become a daily occurrence even for those least affected by economic hardship. In addition to the more usual topics of evolving household purchasing and consumption strategies and economic needs, and that of personal networks of support and consumption – with a focus on the resilience shown in the face of the energy crisis – the research investigates the topic of values and principles of social justice that shape consumption, and that of the pursuit of happiness. Although they daily have to struggle to defend their way of life, people are beginning to hope again
