Abstract: Although there are several books in print dealing with elasticity, many focus on specialized topics such as mathematical foundations, anisotropic materials, two-dimensional problems, thermoelasticity, non-linear theory, etc. As such they are not appropriate candidates for a general textbook. This book provides a concise and organized presentation and development of general theory of elasticity. Complemented by a Solutions Manual and including MatLab codes and coding, this text is an excellent book teaching guide.

Abstract: Women and Journalism offers a rich and comprehensive analysis of the roles, status and experiences of women journalists in the United States and Britain. Drawing on a variety of sources and dealing with a host of women journalists ranging from nineteenth century pioneers to Martha Gellhorn, Kate Adie and Veronica Guerin, the authors investigate the challenges women have faced in their struggle to establish reputations as professionals. This book provides an account of the gendered structuring of journalism in print, radio and television and speculates about women's still-emerging role in online journalism. Their accomplishments as war correspondents are tracked to the present, including a study of the role they played post-September 11th.

Abstract: The way electronic instruments are built is changing in a deeply fundamental way. It is making an evolutionary leap to a new method of design that is being called synthetic instruments. This new method promises to be the most significant advance in electronic test and instrumentation since the introduction of automated test equipment (ATE). The switch to synthetic instruments is beginning now, and it will profoundly affect all test and measurement equipment that will be developed in the future. Synthetic instruments are like ordinary instruments in that they are specific to a particular measurement or test. They might be a voltmeter that measures voltage, or a spectrum analyzer that measures spectra. The key, defining difference is this: synthetic instruments are implemented purely in software that runs on general purpose, non-specific measurement hardware with a high speed A/D and D/A at its core. In a synthetic instrument, the software is specific; the hardware is generic. Therefore, the "personality" of a synthetic instrument can be changed in an instant. A voltmeter may be a spectrum analyzer a few seconds later, and then become a power meter, or network analyzer, or oscilloscope. Totally different instruments are implemented on the same hardware and can be switched back and forth in the blink of an eye. This book explains the basics of synthetic instrumentation for the many people that will need to quickly learn about this revolutionary way to design test equipment. This book attempts to demystify the topic, cutting through, commercial hype, and obscure, vague jargon, to get to the heart of the technique. It reveals the important basic underlying concepts, showing people how the synthetic instrument design approach, properly executed, is so effective in creating nstrumentation that out performs traditional approaches to T&M and ATE being used today. provides an overview and complete introduction to this revolutionary new technology enables equipment designers and manufacturers to produce vastly more functional and flexible instrumentation; it's not your father's multimeter!

Abstract: In network design, the gap between theory and practice is woefully broad. This book narrows it, comprehensively and critically examining current network design models and methods. You will learn where mathematical modeling and algorithmic optimization have been under-utilized. At the opposite extreme, you will learn where they tend to fail to contribute to the twin goals of network efficiency and cost-savings. Most of all, you will learn precisely how to tailor theoretical models to make them as useful as possible in practice. Throughout, the authors focus on the traffic demands encountered in the real world of network design. Their generic approach, however, allows problem formulations and solutions to be applied across the board to virtually any type of backbone communication or computer network. For beginners, this book is an excellent introduction. For seasoned professionals, it provides immediate solutions and a strong foundation for further advances in the use of mathematical modeling for network design. Written by leading researchers with a combined 40 years of industrial and academic network design experience. Considers the development of design models for different technologies, including TCP/IP, IDN, MPLS, ATM, SONET/SDH, and WDM. Discusses recent topics such as shortest path routing and fair bandwidth assignment in IP/MPLS networks. Addresses proper multi-layer modeling across network layers using different technologies—for example, IP over ATM over SONET, IP over WDM, and IDN over SONET. Covers restoration-oriented design methods that allow recovery from failures of large-capacity transport links and transit nodes. Presents, at the end of each chapter, exercises useful to both students and practitioners.

Abstract: New technologies are revolutionising the way manufacturing and supply chain management are implemented. These changes are delivering manufacturing firms the competitive advantage of a highly flexible and responsive supply chain and manufacturing system to ensure that they meet the high expectations of their customers, who, in today's economy, demand absolutely the best service, price, delivery time and product quality. To make e-manufacturing and supply chain technologies effective, integration is needed between various, often disparate systems. To understand why this is such an issue, one needs to understand what the different systems or system components do, their objectives, their specific focus areas and how they interact with other systems. It is also required to understand how these systems evolved to their current state, as the concepts used during the early development of systems and technology tend to remain in place throughout the life-cycle of the systems/technology. This book explores various standards, concepts and techniques used over the years to model systems and hierarchies in order to understand where they fit into the organization and supply chain. It looks at the specific system components and the ways in which they can be designed and graphically depicted for easy understanding by both information technology (IT) and non-IT personnel. Without a good implementation philosophy, very few systems add any real benefit to an organization, and for this reason the ways in which systems are implemented and installation projects managed are also explored and recommendations are made as to possible methods that have proven successful in the past. The human factor and how that impacts on system success are also addressed, as is the motivation for system investment and subsequent benefit measurement processes. Finally, the vendor/user supply/demand within the e-manufacturing domain is explored and a method is put forward that enables the reduction of vendor bias during the vendor selection process. The objective of this book is to provide the reader with a good understanding regarding the four critical factors (business/physical processes, systems supporting the processes, company personnel and company/personal performance measures) that influence the success of any e-manufacturing implementation, and the synchronization required between these factors. · Discover how to implement the flexible and responsive supply chain and manufacturi...

Abstract: In the last 40 years, machine vision has evolved into a mature field embracing a wide range of applications including surveillance, automated inspection, robot assembly, vehicle guidance, traffic monitoring and control, signature verification, biometric measurement, and analysis of remotely sensed images. While researchers and industry specialists continue to document their work in this area, it has become increasingly difficult for professionals and graduate students to understand the essential theory and practicalities well enough to design their own algorithms and systems. This book directly addresses this need. As in earlier editions, E.R. Davies clearly and systematically presents the basic concepts of the field in highly accessible prose and images, covering essential elements of the theory while emphasizing algorithmic and practical design constraints. In this thoroughly updated edition, he divides the material into horizontal levels of a complete machine vision system. Application case studies demonstrate specific techniques and illustrate key constraints for designing real-world machine vision systems. · Includes solid, accessible coverage of 2-D and 3-D scene analysis. · Offers thorough treatment of the Hough Transform—a key technique for inspection and surveillance. · Brings vital topics and techniques together in an integrated system design approach. · Takes full account of the requirement for real-time processing in real applications.

Abstract: Successful businesses and organizations are continually looking for ways to improve service and customer satisfaction in order to achieve long-term customer loyalty. In light of these goals, software developers must ask the question: how does customer orientation influence traditional approaches, methods, and principles of software development? In this book, a leading software architect and his team of software engineers describe how the idea of customer orientation in an organization leads to the creation of application-oriented software. This book describes what application-oriented software development is and how it can be conceptually and constructively designed with object-oriented techniques. It goes further to describe how to best fit together the many different methodologies and techniques that have been created for object-orientation (such as frameworks, platforms, components, UML, Unified Process, design patterns, and eXtreme Programming) to design and build software for real projects. This book brings together the best of research, development, and day-to-day project work to the task of building large software systems. *Written by and for developers of large, interactive, and long-lived software systems *Includes patterns of proven analysis, design, and documentation techniques *Shows how to develop an appropriate design approach and concrete software development techniques

Abstract: While many architects use PHP for projects, they are often not aware of the power of PHP in creating enterprise-level applications. This book covers the latest version of PHP – version 5 -- and focuses on its capabilities within a multi-tier application framework. It contains numerous coding samples and commentaries on them. A chapter discusses object orientation in PHP as it applies to the multi-tier architecture and other chapters discuss HTTP and SOAP, the two communication protocols most useful in tying together multiple layers. There is also coverage of database design and query construction as well as information about tricks you can use in generating user interfaces. Covers PHP as it relates to developing software in a multi-tier environment—a crucial aspect of developing robust software with low cost and ease of use as design goals. Makes extensive use of Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Web Services as implemented in PHP and NuSOAP. Shows precisely how to make use of the InnoDB table type newly available in MySQL. InnoDB supports true referential integrity and row-level locking. An application example (a multi-currency bookkeeping application) runs throughout the book, showing various PHP capabilities as well as the database interaction.

Abstract: "If you're a systems-level 32-bit or 64-bit Windows developer, whether using the Windows API directly or via .NET interop, you'll definitely want to take a look at this update to Johnson Hart's well-respected and well-loved book. Johnson starts with Windows history and cultural issues and moves through basic and advanced system services in a thoughtful, thorough manner. If Mr. Rogers wrote a book with David Cutler, this is what they'd come up with." –Chris Sells, Longhorn Content Strategist, Microsoft Corporation "While focusing on UNIX developers that are looking to augment their skills or simply jump ship, Windows System Programming, Third Edition is a book that even some seasoned systems-level Windows developers will undoubtedly find useful. This is not your average bland GUI treatise; Hart takes you down to the metal, explains all the relevant concepts clearly and in-depth, and gives you an extensive library of high-quality code examples that can be easily adapted for your own larger applications. Even if you've created server applications before, Windows System Programming will teach you new tricks, shed new light on concepts you thought you'd mastered, and offer new strategies for creating robust and secure solutions." –Klaus H. Probst, Senior Architect, Spherion Technology Services; Microsoft MVP "This book is quite easy to follow; there are clear explanations of everything. Even the explanation of the standards is readable! For a developer not familiar with developing with Windows, Hart's book also provides basic information on where Windows was and where it is today, plus a great explanation of how it is different from Posix and Unix." –Eric Landes, Microsoft MVP, www.aspalliance.com/corporatecoder "Even advanced developers will always need to have a book like this one on hand when the abstractions of a platform like .NET are inadequate or when they need to know more about how .NET is implemented. And the focus on low-level programming (specifically memory management and IO) and other non-GUI topics makes it stand out as superior among other Windows programming books. In keeping the GUI focus to a minimum, Hart's book is able to be comprehensive on the topics contained within." –Michael Davidson, IT Analyst Windows System Programming, Third Edition gives a solid grounding on using the core Windows APIs, includingWin64; is updated for Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Framework, and has extensive exa...

Use the enclosed poster, which illustrates every major step associated with an IP Telephony deployment. There is no better path to the successful implementation of a new technology than to follow in the experienced footsteps of an organization that has already been there. The Road to IP Telephony tells you how Cisco Systems successfully moved its own organization to a converged, enterprise-wide network. You will learn the implementation and operational processes, what worked, what didn't work, and how to develop your own successful methodology. After presenting this topic to hundreds of Cisco customers, including Fortune 500 companies, Stephanie Carhee consistently encountered the same question, "If I decide to move to IP Telephony, where do I begin and what can I do to ensure that I do it right the first time?" Although the needs of every enterprise are different, some things are universal; planning, communication, teamwork, and understanding your user's requirements are as important as technical expertise. The Road to IP Telephony shares with you everything you need to know about managing your deployment. It starts with where to begin, including what needs to be addressed before you even begin the planning process, to building your project team. Key best practices are also offered to help you set the project's pace and schedule, get your users on board, identify a migration strategy, develop a services and support strategy, and work toward the final PBX decommission. "Cisco IT wants to share its implementation experience with Cisco customers and partners to aide in the deployment pra...

Abstract: Understand how IP telephony can change your business This book explains four key points to help you successfully implement your IP telephony strategy: IP telephony works today. This is not new, unproven technology. Thousands of customers have implemented IP telephony successfully. So can you. Expect to save money. IP telephony may well cost your organization money-initially. But the business impact and post-installation process improvements give you a significant and rapid return on your investment. It's more than voice over IP. You'll understand the difference between voice over IP (VoIP) and IP telephony and what that means for your business. This is critical. They are not the same. It's more than a dial tone. There are potential business-impacting applications within your own organization. IP Telephony Unveiled helps you recognize these applications. The emerging IP telephony market is fraught with misunderstandings and misinformation. IP telephony can impact a company's business model in tremendous ways. It can open new revenue streams, enhance profitability, drive new levels of customer and employee satisfaction, and be a key enabler in a company's strategy to differentiate itself competitively-but only if you're aware of these benefits. IP Telephony Unveiled is written for all those responsible for corporate strategies for revenue generation, cost containment, and customer satisfaction. IP Telephony Unveiled uncovers the value behind this technology, which helps you see past what might appear to be only a new telephone system, to understand the strategic enabler laying dormant in many companies' networks. Through this book, you will understand the real benefits of an IP telephony strategy and get assistance in developing this strategy inside your organization. This volume is in the Network Business Series offered by Cisco Press. Books in this series provide IT executives, decision makers, and networking professionals with pertinent information on today's most important technologies and business strategies.

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication will help users to select the appropriate tape solution for various backup scenarios found in open systems environments. This book is a tape product selection and differentiation guide that is designed to assist users in finding all the information needed to select the best tape solution for the designated backup environment. This guide describes the information gathering process and product selection criteria to differentiate among the available IBM tape offerings. It provides a basis for tape differentiation. It is not, however, intended as a tape system sizing guide. For this purpose, users should use the sizing tools provided by each product family. This guide focuses primarily on identifying backup environments for the IBM 358x Ultrium product family (LTO) and the environments for the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape System 3590 and 3592. Single user or departmental type backup environments are also addressed through providing information on the entry level tape product lines such as 4mm or 8 mm, and so on. Total backup solution offerings are supported by the Tivoli Storage Manager, as well as other backup applications offered by various vendors. This edition of the book has been updated with information about the following: IBM 3592-J1A tape drive; WORM and Economy cartridge support for the IBM 3592; new models of the IBM TotalStorage UltraScalable Tape Library 3584; and new models of the IBM TotalStorage Ultrium Tape 2U Autoloader 3581.

Abstract: This book contains everything you need to make your application program support IPv6. IPv6 socket APIs (RFC2553) are fully described with real-world examples. It covers security, a great concern these days. To secure the Internet infrastructure, every developer has to take a security stance - to audit every line of code, to use proper API and write correct and secure code as much as possible. To achieve this goal, the examples presented in this book are implemented with a security stance. Also, the book leads you to write secure programs. For instance, the book recommends against the use of some of the IPv6 standard APIs - unfortunately, there are some IPv6 APIs that are inherently insecure, so the book tries to avoid (and discourage) the use of such APIs. Another key issue is portability. The examples in the book should be applicable to any of UNIX based operating systems, MacOS X, and Windows XP. * Covers the new protocol just adopted by the Dept of Defense for future systems * Deals with security concerns, including spam and email, by presenting the best programming standards * Fully describes IPv6 socket APIs (RFC2553) using real-world examples * Allows for portability to UNIX-based operating systems, MacOS X, and Windows XP

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication discusses Business Service Management best practices. Business Service Management is a key component of IBM’s on demand Automation Blueprint. It is the top layer of the system management discipline which enables IT management to be related to the business. The ultimate goal of the IT infrastructure is to leverage its value to support the business. The IT infrastructure management should then be aimed at minimizing disruption to business processes and functions. This goal is realized with the Business Service Management (formerly also called Business Impact Management). Using Business Service Management, IT resources management is aligned with the business processes and functions: - Establishing a Service Level Agreement with IT users - Understanding how IT resources impact business processes - Ensuring IT resources fulfill the Service Level Agreement and minimizing disruption to business functions This book describes the relevant concepts, as well as planning for and implementing Business Service Management. The implementation is described using a sample business function of an e-business solution.

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication provides an example of the "ideal" Parallel Sysplex environment (one that is configured to deliver the highest levels of application availability), and describes the features and functions used in this environment. For each function, we describe briefly what it does and what its benefit is, and refer to the appropriate implementation documentation. In this document, we discuss how to configure hardware and software, and how to manage systems processes for maximum availability in a Parallel Sysplex environment. We discuss the basic concepts of continuous availability and describe a structured approach to developing and implementing a continuous availability solution. This document provides a list of items to consider for trying to achieve near-continuous application availability and should be used as a guide when creating a high-availability Parallel Sysplex. Information is provided in recommendations lists and will help you configure and manage your IT environment to meet your availability requirements. This publication is intended to help customers’ systems and operations personnel and IBM systems engineers to plan, implement, and use a Parallel Sysplex in order to get closer to a goal of continuous availability. It is not intended to be a guide to implementing or using Parallel Sysplex as such. It only covers topics related to continuous availability.

Abstract: Google, the most popular search engine worldwide, provides web surfers with an easy-to-use guide to the Internet, with web and image searches, language translation, and a range of features that make web navigation simple enough for even the novice user. What many users don’t realize is that the deceptively simple components that make Google so easy to use are the same features that generously unlock security flaws for the malicious hacker. Vulnerabilities in website security can be discovered through Google hacking, techniques applied to the search engine by computer criminals, identity thieves, and even terrorists to uncover secure information. This book beats Google hackers to the punch, equipping web administrators with penetration testing applications to ensure their site is invulnerable to a hacker’s search. Penetration Testing with Google Hacks explores the explosive growth of a technique known as "Google Hacking." When the modern security landscape includes such heady topics as "blind SQL injection" and "integer overflows," it's refreshing to see such a deceptively simple tool bent to achieve such amazing results; this is hacking in the purest sense of the word. Readers will learn how to torque Google to detect SQL injection points and login portals, execute port scans and CGI scans, fingerprint web servers, locate incredible information caches such as firewall and IDS logs, password databases, SQL dumps and much more - all without sending a single packet to the target! Borrowing the techniques pioneered by malicious "Google hackers," this talk aims to show security practitioners how to properly protect clients from this often overlooked and dangerous form of information leakage. *First book about Google targeting IT professionals and security leaks through web browsing. *Author Johnny Long, the authority on Google hacking, will be speaking about "Google Hacking" at the Black Hat 2004 Briefing. His presentation on penetrating security flaws with Google is expected to create a lot of buzz and exposure for the topic. *Johnny Long's Web site hosts the largest repository of Google security exposures and is the most popular destination for security professionals who want to learn about the dark side of Google.

Abstract: This IBM Redbooks publication provides a first look at the Solution Installation capability that is a key component of the IBM Autonomic Computing initiative. Autonomic computing technologies enable complex computing systems to be self-configuring, self-healing, self-optimizing, and self-protecting. One aspect of this is the ability to automate the change management processes associated with deploying and managing software required for business solutions. The Solution Installation technologies that are described are evolving and will be enhanced over time. This publication provides the reader with an opportunity to understand the underlying concepts and facilities. This publication is based on Version 1.2 of the Solution Installation toolkit and describes both architectural concepts as well as specific examples that apply to the current version. We attempt to make clear when a key architectural concept is not fully implemented at this time. Readers of this book will gain an understanding of the basic concepts, and how the architecture described will provide business value as it becomes fully implemented and utilized by IBM and other software vendors. Please note that the additional material referenced in the text is not available from IBM.

Abstract: In September 2003, Macromedia released Flash MX 2004, and with it, ActionScript 2.0, a dramatically improved version of Flash's programming language. ActionScript 2.0 introduces a formal object-oriented programming syntax and methodology for creating Flash applications. From a developer's perspective, the new OOP-based techniques in ActionScript 2.0 make applications more natural to plan and conceptualize, more stable, more reusable across projects, easier to maintain, change, and expand upon, and much more. In short, they enhance the entire development process. In Essential ActionScript 2.0 , bestselling author Colin Moock--one of the most universally respected developers in the Flash community--covers everything you'll need to know about the new ActionScript language and its methodologies for producing movies, animation, and applications on the web. Moock guides readers through this important new territory with his trademark easy-to-understand style and expertise. Moock's goal throughout the book is not just to get you to use object-oriented programming in your daily Flash work: he wants you to reap the benefits of OOP; he wants you to understand ActionScript 2.0 completely. And without question, Moock is the author who can make this happen. Essential ActionScript 2.0 begins with a tour of the language, including the fundamentals of object-oriented concepts, syntax, and usage. Those who are new to OOP will learn the basics and how to apply their understanding. Those who are familiar with OOP will leverage their prior experience to learn about Flash-based OOP. The next part of the book shows how to structure entire applications with ActionScript 2.0, teaching you best practices and techniques to build scalable, extensible, stable apps. Next, you'll explore a variety of approaches to various programming situations by applying object-oriented programming strategies, known as design patterns, to Flash. Experienced Flash developers and programmers coming from other languages will enjoy the sheer depth of Moocks's coverage and expertise in Essential ActionScript 2.0 . Abstract: Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are devices that provide a fast, low-cost way for embedded system designers to customize products and deliver new versions with upgraded features, because they can handle very complicated functions, and be reconfigured an infinite number of times. In addition to introducing the various architectural features available in the latest generation of FPGAs, The Design Warrior’s Guide to FPGAs also covers different design tools and flows. This book covers information ranging from schematic-driven entry, through traditional HDL/RTL-based simulation and logic synthesis, all the way up to the current state-of-the-art in pure C/C++ design capture and synthesis technology. Also discussed are specialist areas such as mixed hardward/software and DSP-based design flows, along with innovative new devices such as field programmable node arrays (FPNAs). Clive "Max" Maxfield is a bestselling author and engineer with a large following in the electronic design automation (EDA)and embedded systems industry. In this comprehensive book, he covers all the issues of interest to designers working with, or contemplating a move to, FPGAs in their product designs. While other books cover fragments of FPGA technology or applications this is the first to focus exclusively and comprehensively on FPGA use for embedded systems. First book to focus exclusively and comprehensively on FPGA use in embedded designs World-renowned best-selling author Will help engineers get familiar and succeed with this new technology by providing much-needed advice on choosing the right FPGA for any design project

Abstract: This textbook offers a fresh approach to the study of comparative politics and public policy. Instead of concentrating on why countries differ, Learning From Comparative Public Policy explores how countries can learn from each other about the success and failure of policy initiatives. With its theory and practise focus, the lively narrative analyzes the cultural and resources problems involved in importing policies, and the roles of institutions, regulators, think tanks and experts. In addition to explaining the key tenets of policy analysis, the internationally renowned author offers a wide variety of international case studies and useful boxes to highlight examples. Invaluable reading for students of public policy, for policy makers and practioners working in the public sector, it includes: * learning from comparison * defining a problem and creating awareness * where to look for lessons * applying the policy model * the problems of importing models * using terms to evaluate future consequences.

Abstract: Designing, implementing, and operating a wireless sensor network involves a wide range of disciplines and many application-specific constraints. To make sense of and take advantage of these systems, a holistic approach is needed—and this is precisely what Wireless Sensor Networks delivers. Inside, two eminent researchers review the diverse technologies and techniques that interact in today’s wireless sensor networks. At every step, they are guided by the high-level information-processing tasks that determine how these networks are architected and administered. Zhao and Guibas begin with the canonical problem of localizing and tracking moving objects, then systematically examine the many fundamental sensor network issues that spring from it, including network discovery, service establishment, data routing and aggregation, query processing, programming models, and system organization. The understanding gained as a result—how different layers support the needs of different applications, and how a wireless sensor network should be built to optimize performance and economy—is sure to endure as individual component technologies come and go. ·Written for practitioners, researchers, and students and relevant to all application areas, including environmental monitoring, industrial sensing and diagnostics, automotive and transportation, security and surveillance, military and battlefield uses, and large-scale infrastructural maintenance. ·Skillfully integrates the many disciplines at work in wireless sensor network design: signal processing and estimation, communication theory and protocols, distributed algorithms and databases, probabilistic reasoning, energy-aware computing, design methodologies, evaluation metrics, and more. ·Demonstrates how querying, data routing, and network self-organization can support high-level information-processing tasks.

Abstract: NFS Version 4 (NFS V4) is the latest defined client-to-server protocol for NFS. A significant upgrade from NFS V3, it was defined under the IETF framework by many contributors. NFS V4 introduces major changes to the way NFS has been implemented and used before now, including stronger security, wide area network sharing, and broader platform adaptability. This IBM Redbooks publication is intended to provide a broad understanding of NFS V4 and specific AIX NFS V4 implementation details. It discusses considerations for deployment of NFS V4, with a focus on exploiting the stronger security features of the new protocol. In the initial implementation of NFS V4 in AIX 5.3, the most important functional differences are related to security. Chapter 3 and parts of the planning and implementation chapters in Part 2 cover this topic in detail.

Abstract: Security is the hottest topic in the current Web-centric computing environment. This issue becomes the single largest concern for IT professionals who are stakeholders for Web applications, such as administrators, programmers, and users. In this IBM Redbooks publication, we discuss this security issue with the implementation of IBM WebSphere Portal Extend for Multiplatforms in an IBM Lotus collaborative environment. This discussion is scenario-based and aims to assist in the deployment of WebSphere Portal with Lotus Collaborative Components in a secure implementation. We describe several degrees of security, noting their advantages and disadvantages. The primary goal of this scenario is to have a WebSphere Portal server with Lotus Team Workplace (formerly called QuickPlace) and Lotus Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing (formerly called Sametime) environment set up and running securely. We discuss proxy authentication with IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-business Version 5.1 and discuss the use of various identity providers, such as IBM Tivoli Directory Server, Domino LDAP, and Microsoft Active Directory.
