Populärkultur beruht auf Konzepten wie Jugend, Dynamik, Aktualität und Schnelllebigkeit, strebt nach Grenzüberschreitungen, geht mit der Mode oder setzt sogar neue Trends. Gleichwohl bietet sie Raum für die Darstellung von Altersprozessen, die Reflexion von Stereotypen zu Alter und Altern sowie für die Entwicklung neuer Alterskonzepte. Die Beiträger des Bandes loten die bisher kaum systematisch beachtete Kombination von Alter(n) und Populärkultur anhand verschiedener medialer Formate wie Film, Fernsehserie, Literatur, Comic oder Hörspiel aus

    Abstract: What if James T. Kirk and Spock had a baby, left the Enterprise and moved to New Vulcan to live happily ever after?Fan fiction plots like this are a strong testament of fans' endless creativity. Not only do the authors invent their own storylines but they have developed a generic definition of content across fandoms according to the relationship present in the text. Classification is therefore profoundly related to gender and sexuality. Julia Elena Goldmann examines these generic structures and formulaic patterns comparatively in Star Trek and Supernatural fan fiction. She also focuses on the interplay of the concepts of gender, sexuality, relationships and depictions of family in these texts

    Abstract: Comfort is a prominent and highly loaded concept, as popular discourses on cozy environments, safe spaces, but also the importance of »getting out of your comfort zone« attest. This volume is the first to investigate »comfort« as a cultural narrative and emotional touchstone in contemporary culture. Taken together, the contributions to the volume offer an overview of different approaches to and conceptualizations of comfort in linguistics, literary, media, and cultural studies and art history. They showcase how »comfort« serves as a valuable lens to analyze contemporary artworks and developments, e.g. live theatre broadcasting or political interventions in the US-American media sphere
