Abstract: Employing off-the-shelf machine learning models is not an innovation. The journey through technicalities and innovation in the machine learning field is ongoing, and we hope this book serves as a compass, guiding the readers through the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. It typically includes model selection, parameter tuning and optimization, use of pre-trained models and transfer learning, right use of limited data, model interpretability and explainability, feature engineering and autoML robustness and security, and computational cost – efficiency and scalability. Innovation in building machine learning models involves a continuous cycle of exploration, experimentation, and improvement, with a focus on pushing the boundaries of what is achievable while considering ethical implications and real-world applicability. The book is aimed at providing a clear guidance that one should not be limited to building pre-trained models to solve problems using the off-the-self basic building blocks. With primarily three different data types: numerical, textual, and image data, we offer practical applications such as predictive analysis for finance and housing, text mining from media/news, and abnormality screening for medical imaging informatics. To facilitate comprehension and reproducibility, authors offer GitHub source code encompassing fundamental components and advanced machine learning tools.

Abstract: Introduction -- Active learning – what, when, and where to deploy? -- Active learning – review (cases) -- Active learning – methodology -- Active learning – validation -- Case study: Is my cough sound Covid-19?.
Abstract: Future epidemics are inevitable, and it takes months and even years to collect fully annotated data. The sheer magnitude of data required for machine learning algorithms, spanning both shallow and deep structures, raises a fundamental question: how big data is big enough to effectively tackle future epidemics? In this context, active learning, often referred to as human or expert-in-the-loop learning, becomes imperative, enabling machines to commence learning from day one with minimal labeled data. In unsupervised learning, the focus shifts toward constructing advanced machine learning models like deep structured networks that autonomously learn over time, with human or expert intervention only when errors occur and for limited data—a process we term mentoring. In the context of Covid-19, this book explores the use of deep features to classify data into two clusters (0/1: Covid-19/non-Covid-19) across three distinct datasets: cough sound, Computed Tomography (CT) scan, and chest x-ray (CXR). Not to be confused, our primary objective is to provide a strong assertion on how active learning could potentially be used to predict disease from any upcoming epidemics. Upon request (education/training purpose), GitHub source codes are provided.

Abstract: This book describes the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods using time series data in system control. This book consistently discusses the application of machine learning to the analysis and modelling of time series data of physical quantities to be controlled in the field of system control. Since dynamic systems are not stable steady states but changing transient states, the changing transient states depend on the state history before the change. In other words, it is essential to predict the change from the present to the future based on the time history of each variable in the target system, and to manipulate the system to achieve the desired change. In short, time series is the key to the application of AI machine learning to system control. This is the philosophy of this book: "time series data" + "AI machine learning" = "new practical control methods". This book can give my helps to undergradate or graduate students, institute researchers and senior engineers whose scientific background are engineering, mathematics, physics and other natural sciences.

Abstract: This book discusses the extent and nature of COVID-19 pandemic in India and its effect on the society and economy. The suggested management practices discussed here are also not stereotype. At the same time, it highlights deficiency in development fundamentals in India on several dimensions, especially health, education, quality of public spending, taxation orientation, external trade involvement across states, etc., deficiencies which create an inbuilt bottleneck toward the creation of a more equal society. While discussing these, the book throws light on how they were expectedly exacerbated by the sudden negative shock in the form of COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the book has highlighted the COVID pandemic and its response in India in the background of certain less discussed aspects of development fundamentals. The contents would be of interest to researchers and students studying socioeconomic aspect of developmental economics and also to policy makers and non-government entities involved in mitigating effects of pandemic in the socioeconomic sphere.

Abstract: This book investigates both theory and various applications of predictive learning control (PLC) which is an advanced technology for complex nonlinear systems. To avoid the difficult modeling problem for complex nonlinear systems, this book begins with the design and theoretical analysis of PLC method without using mechanism model information of the system, and then a series of PLC methods is designed that can cope with system constraints, varying trial lengths, unknown time delay, and available and unavailable system states sequentially. Applications of the PLC on both railway and urban road transportation systems are also studied. The book is intended for researchers, engineers, and graduate students who are interested in predictive control, learning control, intelligent transportation systems and related fields.

Abstract: This book discusses the use of technology, data science and open data to achieve the net-zero carbon emissions target set up by the Paris Agreement on climate change. There have been many discussions around sustainability and climate change solutions to mitigate the negative impact. However, using technology levers to tackle climate challenges is rarely seen as the most significant catalyst. The available research in this field is generally qualitative in nature, where technology and data have not yet been leveraged. By using AI/ML, the book predicts the climate change consequences arising due to investment in fossil fuel sectors, estimates CO2 emissions from the transport sector, forecasts average land temperature due to non-renewable sources of energy, and segments Indian states on the basis of household carbon emissions. The researchers, policymakers, students, teachers, educational institutions, governments, regulators, companies, international organizations, etc., will benefit immensely by referring to this book. Moreover, the endeavour of this book is to provide a decarbonized environment and a better tomorrow to the next generation.

Abstract: This book meets the present and future needs for the interaction between various science and technology/engineering areas on the one hand and different branches of soft computing on the other. Soft computing is the recent development about the computing methods which include fuzzy set theory/logic, evolutionary computation (EC), probabilistic reasoning, artificial neural networks, machine learning, expert systems, etc. Soft computing refers to a partnership of computational techniques in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and some other engineering disciplines, which attempt to study, model, and analyze complex problems from different interdisciplinary problems. This, as opposed to traditional computing, deals with approximate models and gives solutions to complex real-life problems. Unlike hard computing, soft computing is tolerant of imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximations. Interdisciplinary sciences include various challenging problems of science and engineering. Recent developments in soft computing are the bridge to handle different interdisciplinary science and engineering problems. In recent years, the correspondingly increased dialog between these disciplines has led to this new book. This is done, firstly, by encouraging the ways that soft computing may be applied in traditional areas, as well as point towards new and innovative areas of applications and secondly, by encouraging other scientific disciplines to engage in a dialog with the above computation algorithms outlining their problems to both access new methods as well as to suggest innovative developments within itself.

Abstract: This book presents thoughts and pathways to build revolutionary machine learning models with the new paradigm of machine learning to adapt behaviorism. It focuses on two aspects – one focuses on architecting a choice process to lead users on the certain choice path while the second focuses on developing machine learning models based on choice paradigm. This book is divided in three parts where part one deals with human choice and choice architecting models with stories of choice architects. Second part closely studies human choosing models and deliberates on developing machine learning models based on the human choice paradigm. Third part takes you further to look at machine learning based choice architecture. The proposed pioneering choice-based paradigm for machine learning presented in the book will help readers to develop products – help readers to solve problems in a more humanish way and to negotiate with uncertainty in a more graceful but in an objective way. It will help to create unprecedented value for business and society. Further, it will unveil a new paradigm for modern intelligent businesses to embark on the new journey; the journey of transition from shackled feature rich and choice poor systems to feature flexible and choice rich natural behaviors.

Moreover, the Brexit and US-China trade tension has intensified uncertainty and the economic challenges. This book examines in recent times how humanity has experienced the most dramatic health crisis and their economic effects. This pandemic lockdowns several countries and caused an economic and financial collapse. This book expands on these crises, with different origins and mechanisms, have shaped the economic systems in several ways: monetary policy, macroeconomic imbalance, economic growth, economic integration, financial risk, volatility and trade effects. Abstract: An Integrative Book Overview Chapter -- The Indian Bankruptcy Reform: The State of the Art -- Reforms and Regulators -- Distortions in Land Markets and Their Implications for Credit Generation in India -- Value Destruction and Wealth Transfer Under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code -- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) - 12 Cases Under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.
Abstract: This book is about the establishment of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, in 2016, one of the most important new developments in Indian commercial law. The law has major implications for firms, their creditors, and a variety of the professional services that feed into the decisions of borrowers and lenders including lawyers, accountants and valuers. A new profession of insolvency professionals has come to exist owing to the law. There are several questions about bankruptcy reform in the mind of researchers, policy makers and practitioners. How has the reform progressed? How has it reshaped the incentives of firms? What are the difficulties faced? What are the optimal paths for borrowers and lenders and their advisors under the rubric of the law? How should laws and institutions be modified? The book has a unique set of chapters, by key people who have shaped the field which offer novel insights into these questions. The book has been edited by key people who have worked on bankruptcy reform since 2010. Dr. Sahoo has been the chairperson of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India since the establishment of this regulatory agency. Dr. Thomas was a member of the Bankruptcy Law Reforms Committee which drafted the IBC, and led the internal team of the BLRC which drafted the law. The book is an authentic and credible analysis of the happenings in the Indian insolvency and bankruptcy ecosystem from the start, with interest areas for international and domestic, economics/finance and law, researcher and practitioner communities.
Note: "I am happy to note that this book undertakes an in-depth diagnosis and evaluation of the Code, and focuses on the challenges that lie ahead, including plausible solutions, some of which were presented and discussed at the IBBI-IGIDR Research Conference held in August, 2018, of which I was a part. I would like to compliment the authors as well as the editor for bringing out such a comprehensive publication on the subject of insolvency." - Seite v und vi. - "Some of the chapters in this book were presented and debated at the IBBII-GIDR-FICCI insolvency and bankruptcy reforms workshop that was held in Mumbai in April 2018, and the IBBI-IGIDR insolvency and bankruptcy reforms conference, which was held in New Delhi in August 2018." - Seite vii

Abstract: Regulatory and Legal Framework for Promoting Green Digital Finance -- Current State of Green Digital Financing and the Associated Challenges -- Assessing the Risks Associated with Green Digital Finance and Policies for Coping with Them -- Role of Governments in Enhancing Green Digital Finance for Meeting the SDGs -- Identification of Critical Success Factors for Developing the Green Digital Financing Market in Iran.
Abstract: This book aims to fill the literature gap on digital instruments and FinTech in enhancing green finance. Technological innovation can increase transparency, accountability, and speed, decentralize the financial system, improve risk management, increase competition, lower costs, improve efficiency, increase cross-sectoral collaboration and integration, and scale up green finance. Artificial intelligence (AI), distributed ledger technologies (DLT) or blockchain, peer-to-peer lending platforms, big data, Internet-based and mobile-based payment platforms, Internet of Things (IoT), matchmaking platforms including crowdlending, tokenizing green assets are potential means to scale up the green finance for achieving the SDGs. The COVID-19 pandemic, the economic downturns, and the uncertainties shrank the new investments in renewable energy projects globally. Low investment in renewable energy projects could threaten the expansion of green energy needed to provide energy security and meet SDG7 and SDG13. Investments in renewable energy projects are scarce because of several risks and a low rate of return. Although several new green financing solutions such as green bonds, green banks, green credit guarantee, carbon taxation, carbon trade, village funds, and community trust funds have been established in different countries, these are insufficient, and alternative ways to finance projects are required. The book provides several high-quality studies on utilizing digitalization, FinTech, financial innovations, and other new technologies to fill the finance gap of green projects to meet the SDG goals. The chapters are written by scholars in diverse countries and regions and include practical policy recommendations.

Abstract: Introduction to AI in Public Health -- Open Public Health Issues -- AI Solutions to Public Health Issues -- AI in Sustainable Public Healthcare -- AI in Precision Medicine -- Societal Impact: AI in Public Health Issues -- Case Studies - AI for Infectious Disease -- Privacy, Security and Ethical Issues.
Abstract: This book discusses and evaluates AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms in dealing with challenges that are primarily related to public health. It also helps find ways in which we can measure possible consequences and societal impacts by taking the following factors into account: open public health issues and common AI solutions (with multiple case studies, such as TB and SARS: COVID-19), AI in sustainable health care, AI in precision medicine and data privacy issues. Public health requires special attention as it drives economy and education system. COVID-19 is an example—a truly infectious disease outbreak. The vision of WHO is to create public health services that can deal with abovementioned crucial challenges by focusing on the following elements: health protection, disease prevention and health promotion. For these issues, in the big data analytics era, AI and ML tools/techniques have potential to improve public health (e.g., existing healthcare solutions and wellness services). In other words, they have proved to be valuable tools not only to analyze/diagnose pathology but also to accelerate decision-making procedure especially when we consider resource-constrained regions.
