    Abstract: "The growing connections between media, culture, and religion are increasingly evident in our society today but have rarely been linked theoretically until now. Beginning with the decline of religious institutions during the latter part of the 20th century, Rethinking Media, Religion, and Culture focuses on issues such as the increasing autonomy and individualized practice of religion, the surge of media and media-based icons that are often imbued with religious qualities, and the ensuing effect on cultural practices. Editors Stewart M. Hoover and Knut Lundby examine each of these issues and the implicatiors of major recent findings of religious, media, and cultural studies as they pertain to one another. In a primary effort, the leading class of contributors to this work effectively triangulate these three separate areas into a coherent whole. The book explores phenomena like rallies, rituals, and resistance as they are distinct expressions of religion often transmogrified into different mediated or cultural expressions.     Abstract: Hat Behinderung eine Geschichte? Die internationale Disability History füllt die Leerstelle zwischen Historiografie und Disability Studies; sie geht davon aus, dass Phänomene verkörperter Differenz kontingent sind.     Abstract: Hauptbeschreibung Eine transsektoral unbrüchig integrierte Versorgung ist notwendig im Lichte der epidemiologischen Transition, die als Korrelat des sozio-demographischen Wandels auf die moderne Gesellschaft zukommt. Die Entwicklung dieser auf innovativen Betriebsformen beruhenden neuen Versorgungslandschaften, die Medizin, Rehabilitation, Pflege, komplementäre soziale Dienstleistungen unter Einbezug der Netzwerke umfassen müssen, bedarf entsprechende rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und ökonomische Anreizstrukturen. Doch Recht und Ökonomik sind notwendige Voraussetzungen, keine hinreichenden Bedingungen gelingender Integrationsversorgung. Vielmehr muss der Wandel zur Integrationsversorgung als ein Wandel der Medizinkultur begriffen werden. Integrationsversorgung erfordert eine andere Medizin- und Pflegeanthropologie, die praktisch gelebt werden muss. Erforderlich erscheint ein Wandel der Haltungen und Einstellungen, als ein Wandel der beruflichen Selbstkonzeptionen der Professionen. Frank Schulz-Nieswandt behandelt im Lichte der gerontologisch definierten Herausforderungen des gesellschaftlichen Wandels dieses zentrale Problem der Arbeit der Professionen an ihrem eigenen beruflichen Selbstkonzept als Teil einer nicht trivialen systemischen Organisationsentwicklung des Gesundheitswesens auf dem Weg zur Integrationsversorgung.   Inhaltsverzeichnis Inhaltsübersicht: Einleitung - A.     Abstract: Obwohl den Beziehungen zwischen Eltern und erwachsenen Kindern in den letzten Jahren viel Aufmerksamkeit zugekommen ist und die dringendsten Fragen zum Generationenzusammenhalt in modernen Gesellschaften beantwortet werden konnten, so ist dennoch zu kritisieren, dass sich die Untersuchungen fast ausschließlich auf Eltern und Kinder konzentrieren, die biologisch miteinander verbunden sind. Auf Grund der stabil hohen Trennungen bzw. Scheidungen sowie der Zunahme von stieffamilialen Lebensformen, kann jedoch nicht länger vernachlässigt werden, dass soziale Veränderungen der familialen Strukturen Auswirkungen auf die Beziehungen der Familienmitglieder haben. In dieser Arbeit steht zum einen die Frage im Vordergrund, ob sich Eltern in der Ausgestaltung ihrer Beziehungen mit erwachsenen Kindern unterscheiden, je nachdem ob sie biologisch oder sozial miteinander verbunden sind. Zum anderen werden Stiefbeziehungen selbst in den Blick genommen und untersucht, inwiefern verschiedene strukturelle Faktoren die Beziehungen zwischen Stiefeltern und Stiefkindern beeinflussen.

    Abstract: Im Buch wird aus Schilderungen von Kindern deutlich, wie sie sich, ihre Familie, ihr Umfeld unter Armutsbedingungen sehen. Eine einzigartige Analyse der verheerenden, vielschichtigen Auswirkungen von Armut auf Kinder. Das Buch liefert die Ergebnisse einer qualitativen Studie, die die Lebenslage von Kindern im Grundschulalter aus der Perspektive der Kinder untersucht. Es handelt sich um eine der ersten Studien, die auf Eigenaussagen der Kinder basiert. Insgesamt zeigt sich, dass die Prozesse zunehmender Benachteiligung und des mehrdimensionalen Ausschlusses von Kindern eine theoretische, empirische und konzeptuelle Herausforderung für die Soziale Arbeit darstellen. Es wird vor allem das bislang unzureichende Instrumentarium der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe deutlich. Im Ergebnis diskutiert das Buch Vorschläge für eine konzeptionelle Umorientierung der Jugendhilfe.

    Abstract: Michel Foucault (1926-1984), einer der eigenwilligsten Denker der Geisteswissenschaften, schuf umfassende Analysen zum Phänomen Macht, die die Betrachtung bestimmter Gesellschaftsbereiche unter diesem Gesichtspunkt ermöglichen. Die Verknüpfung der Machtanalysen mit den Institutionen Psychiatrie und Gefängnis schaffen eine bislang kaum verfolgte Perspektive innerhalb der Foucault-Rezeption. Insbesondere dort, wo Menschen nach bestimmten Kriterien kategorisiert und aus der Gesellschaft ausgeschlossen werden, lassen sich Machtverhältnisse bis ins kleinste Detail dechiffrieren. Die Autorin untersucht anhand exemplarischer Darstellungen die Machtstrukturen innerhalb dieser Institutionen. Mit Hilfe von Foucaults Werkzeugkasten eröffnet sie die Möglichkeit, Gefängnis und Psychiatrie ganz "neu zu denken".
