Abstract: In Detail The goal of Java Business Integration (JBI) is to allow components and services to be integrated in a vendor-independent way, allowing users and vendors to plug and play. Java Business Integration (JBI) is a specification aiming to define a Service Provider Interface for integration containers so that integration components written for these containers are portable across containers and also integrate with other components or services using standard protocols and formats. JBI is based on JSR 208, which is an extension of Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). This book first discusses the various integration approaches available and introduces the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), a new architectural pattern that facilitates integrating services. ESB provides mediation services including routing and transformation. Java Business Integration (JBI) provides a collaboration framework that provides standard interfaces for integration components and protocols to plug into, thus allowing the assembly of Service-Oriented Integration (SOI) frameworks following the ESB pattern. Once JBI and ESB are introduced, we look at how we have been doing service integration without either of these using traditional J2EE. The book then slowly introduces ESB and, with the help of code, showcases how easily things can be done using JBI. What you will learn from this book? Assembling services and porting them across containers using JBI Exposing EJB as a WSDL-compliant service across firewalls Binding remote services to ESB to be consumed internally Exposing local components in ESB like POJO as externally accessible WSDL-compliant services Providing a web service gateway for external consumers Accessing web services over a reliable transport channel like JMS Implementing web service versioning using ESB Implementing service aggregation at ESB Transactions, Security, Clustering, and JMX in ESB Approach The book covers all concepts with examples that can be built, deployed, and run by readers using the Apache Ant tool in Apache ServiceMix, which is an open-source Enterprise Service Bus that combines the functionality of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and an Event Driven Architecture (EDA). The aim of this book is to prepare an architect or developer for building integration solutions using ESB. To that end, this book takes a practical approach, emphasizing how to get things done in ServiceMix with code. When needed, it delves into the theoretical aspects of ES...

Abstract: The promise of the Semantic Web to provide a universal medium to exchange data information and knowledge has been well publicized. There are many sources too for basic information on the extensions to the WWW that permit content to be expressed in natural language yet used by software agents to easily find, share and integrate information. Until now individuals engaged in creating ontologies-- formal descriptions of the concepts, terms, and relationships within a given knowledge domain-- have had no sources beyond the technical standards documents. Semantic Web for the Working Ontologist transforms this information into the practical knowledge that programmers and subject domain experts need. Authors Allemang and Hendler begin with solutions to the basic problems, but don't stop there: they demonstrate how to develop your own solutions to problems of increasing complexity and ensure that your skills will keep pace with the continued evolution of the Semantic Web. • Provides practical information for all programmers and subject matter experts engaged in modeling data to fit the requirements of the Semantic Web. • De-emphasizes algorithms and proofs, focusing instead on real-world problems, creative solutions, and highly illustrative examples. • Presents detailed, ready-to-apply "recipes for use in many specific situations. • Shows how to create new recipes from RDF, RDFS, and OWL constructs.

Abstract: The source of competitive advantage has shifted in many organizations from reliability to innovation and flexibility. But what does it take for an organization that innovates to then manage effectively? In this follow-up to Built to Change, Ed Lawler argues that it is a combination of the right structure and the right people. First, organizations must decide what structure they are: are you a high-involvement organization that has products and services that require a high level of coordination and cooperation among employees? Or do you have a more global competitor structure in which you are constantly bringing in new talent and technological expertise? Are you a mixture of both? Lawler outlines the unique human capital strategy for each approach, shows what it looks like in action, and provides the foundation and tools for creating competitive and innovative organizations.

Abstract: How Great Leaders Can Produce Insane Results Without Driving People Crazy "It's hard to believe that so much powerful practical wisdom can be packed into such an easy to read book. It's a voyage into the pure essence of what really works. I've already ordered it for my entire staff." -Ron Hulnick, President, University of Santa Monica 100 Ways to Motivate Others is the culmination of many years of successful leadership coaching and training by best-selling author Steve Chandler and attorney Scott Richardson, and the natural follow-up to Steve's two previous best-sellers-100 Ways to Motivate Yourself and Reinventing Yourself. Chandler and Richardson have crafted a vital, user-friendly, inspirational guide for executives, managers, and professionals... and those aspiring to reach their level. 100 Ways to Motivate Others draws on the success of live workshops, seminars, and personal coaching programs on communications and leadership. These seminars, done for such organizations as Banner Health, General Dynamics, Scripps Hospital, Wells Fargo Banks, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and M&I Banks, appeal to managers, teachers, parents, CEOs, and coaches everywhere. The first step in motivating others is for you, if you're the leader wanting the motivation, to realize that "if there's a problem, I'm the problem." Once you truly get that, then you can use these 100 ways. After you've learned to motivate yourself, Steve and Scott will help you learn: • How to slow down and enjoy a new level of focus • Why multitasking is a myth, not a strength, and keeping life simple and straightforward is the goal • The power of building on your peoples' strengths • How to avoid the damaging inclination to obsess about people's weaknesses • A simple and creative way to hold people accountable • How to enjoy cultivating the art of supportive confrontation. This book inspires extremely tough-minded leadership that gives the gift of clarity and vision to every person following the leader. 100 Ways to Motivate Others rides on the crest of the international success of Steve Chandler's 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself. Chandler has written eight books and has been translated into seven languages, including best-sellers in China and Japan. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Creative Writing and Political Science, and spent four years in the US Army in Psychological Warfare. Abstract: WPF offers amazing new opportunities to .NET programmers in terms of the user interfaces they can deliver to their customers. But this significant technological advance comes with a steep learning curve, requiring the programmer to learn new classes, new syntax, and an entirely new approach to UI development. Although WPF has been generally available for over a year, commercial take-up has been relatively slow, and the publicly available body of knowledge has been weak in terms of real-world examples and best-practice information. Using WPF Recipes in C# 2008 , you'll find a simple and straightforward approach to solving the problems you face every day. Each solution contains a complete, working example that demonstrates how to make the best use of WPF. You can use the example as a template to solve your own problem or as a base on which to build a solution tailored to your specific needs. Packed with well-structured and documented solutions to a broad range of common WPF problems, this book, which presents the only WPF recipes currently published, will be a valuable addition to any C# programmer's reference library. Examples included provide you with a rich source of information as you begin to learn and will be an invaluable quick-reference guide once you're a proficient WPF programmer. The emphasis on solving the day-to-day WPF problems that all programmers face frees you from needing to trawl through weighty programming tomes or sift through API documentation, allowing you to focus on the more interesting and innovative aspects of your project.

Abstract: Use Java CAPS to Streamline IT Services and Leverage Legacy Applications Design patterns are a useful tool for streamlining enterprise integration and Web development projects: the mission-critical projects that directly impact your competitiveness. Enterprise Integration Patterns by Gregor Hohpe and Bobby Woolf (Addison-Wesley, 2004) described many of the most useful patterns for enterprise developers. Until recently, however, implementing the patterns in that classic reference required the extensive use of raw Java code. Now there's a better alternative: Using Sun's Java Composite Application Suite (Java CAPS), architects and developers can implement enterprise integration patterns succinctly, elegantly, and completely. In Java™ CAPS Basics , Sun's own Java CAPS experts show how to quickly put these new tools and technologies to work in your real-world enterprise application integration projects. After reviewing the challenges of enterprise integration, they introduce Java CAPS and show how it can simplify the development of today's state-of-the-art "composite" applications. Next, they bridge the gap between abstract pattern languages and practical implementation details. You will learn essential Java CAPS concepts and methods in the context of the patterns you'll actually use for real-world message and system management. Coverage includes Comparing approaches to enterprise application integration and finding ways to integrate non-invasively, with fewer changes and lower costs Mastering the core integration tools provided by Java CAPS: eGate, eInsight, eWays and JMS Using enterprise integration patterns to improve application reusability, scalability, resilience, security, and manageability Implementing patterns for message exchange, correlation, infrastructure, routing, construction, transformation, and endpoints Generating and using cryptographic objects such as X.509 Certificates, PKCS#12, and JKS Keystores Using advanced techniques such as solution partitioning and subprocess implementation, many of which are covered nowhere else Constructing two complete example solutions that bring together many of the patterns discussed and illustrated in this book The companion CD contains detailed illustrations for most of the relevant patterns and two complete Java CAPS-based case studies (with solutions) that implement a number of the patterns discussed in the book. In addition, Part II contains a chapter on cryptographic objects used to configure...

Abstract: "Whether you're training a junior account executive in presentation skills or media training a CEO in the middle of a PR crisis, Karen Berg delivers, helping find a winning bottom line message no matter the need." -John Frazier, executive vice president, Quinn & Co. Loud & Clear is essential for everyone who needs to know how to get what he or she wants from anyone. Whether you need to get a message through to an employer, team, committee, your staff, your neighbor, teacher, student, or spouse, this book will show you how to get their attention by: • Using your head. Before you even think about opening your mouth, you need to think long and hard about the person you want to influence and how to say what you want. • Connecting with your listener(s). Berg will show you how to establish chemistry and intimacy with your listeners-from an individual to a stadium-sized audience-to make them want to listen to you. • Keeping their interest. Why "soft" communication, such as story-telling and picture-painting, are important devices and how to use them effectively. Plus, how to avoid the dreaded "drone factor." • Saying it right. Speech and body language techniques make a lasting impression. • Anticipating and overcoming the negatives. How to recognize disaster before it strikes, and handle it when it does. Each chapter also features a topic-specific "plan of attack," plus plenty of client stories, checklists, worksheets, and quizzes. For an employee trying to get a raise, a committee leader who needs to motivate a team, a traveler trying to book a better flight, or a student trying to clinch a better grade, Berg's proven methods will help you say what you mean to get what you want. Karen Berg, CEO of CommCore Strategies, is a communication strategist and international speaker who has trained thousands of professionals for crisis management, shareholders meetings, management presentations, government and expert witness testimony, product launch campaigns, media interviews, and more. Coauthor of the million-copy best-seller Get to the Point, Berg is a recognized industry trendsetter whose views on communications issues are featured regularly in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Redbook, Working Woman, McCall's, and other publications. Frequently interviewed on communication trends, she has appeared on CNN, CNBC, and Today in New York. Berg lives in White Plains, New York

Readers will discover: the top 10 tips every manager should know before he starts to coach • how to handle difficult conversations, conflicting priorities, and problem team members • how to hold follow-up meetings after goals and priorities have been set • sample questions they can adapt to various situations • examples of common problems and how they can use coaching to address them. Clear, practical and straightforward, this is an invaluable tool that will help all leaders coach employees, colleagues, and themselves to excellence.

Abstract: No matter what type of web site or application you're building, social interaction among the people who use it will be key to its success. They will talk about it, invite their friends, complain, sing its high praises, and dissect it in countless ways. With the right design strategy you can use this social interaction to get people signing up, coming back regularly, and bringing others into the fold. With tons of examples from real-world interfaces and a touch of the underlying social psychology theory, Joshua Porter shows you how to design your next great social web application. Inside, you'll discover: • The real reasons why people participate online and the psychology behind them • The Usage Lifecycle-or how people use your web application over time • How to get people past that trickiest of hurdles: sign-up • What to do when you've launched a web application and nobody is using it • How to analyze the effectiveness of your application screens and flows • How to grow your social web application from zero users to 1000-and beyond Designing for the social web is about much more than adding features. It's about embracing the social interaction of the people who make you successful-and then designing smartly to encourage it.

Abstract: Build Applications, Websites, and Software Solutions that Feel Faster, More Efficient, and More Considerate of Users' Time! One hidden factor powerfully influences the way users react to your software, hardware, User Interfaces (UI), or web applications: how those systems utilize users' time . Now, drawing on the nearly 40 years of human computer interaction research-including his own pioneering work-Dr. Steven Seow presents state-of-the-art best practices for reflecting users' subjective perceptions of time in your applications and hardware. Seow begins by introducing a simple model that explains how users perceive and expend time as they interact with technology. He offers specific guidance and recommendations related to several key aspects of time and timing-including user tolerance, system responsiveness, progress indicators, completion time estimates, and more. Finally, he brings together proven techniques for impacting users' perception of time drawn from multiple disciplines and industries, ranging from psychology to retail, animal research to entertainment. • Discover how time and timing powerfully impact user perception, emotions, and behavior • Systematically make your applications more considerate of users' time • Avoid common mistakes that consistently frustrate or infuriate users • Manage user perceptions and tolerance, and build systems that are perceived as faster • Optimize "flow" to make users feel more productive, empowered, and creative • Make reasonable and informed tradeoffs that maximize limited development resources • Learn how to test usability issues related to time-including actual vs. perceived task duration Designing and Engineering Time is for every technology developer, designer, engineer, architect, usability specialist, manager, and marketer. Using its insights and techniques, technical and non-technical professionals can work together to build systems and applications that provide far more value- and create much happier users . Steven C. Seow has a unique combination of experience in both experimental psychology and software usability. He joined Microsoft as a User Researcher after completing his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at Brown University with a research focus on human timing and information theory models of human performance. Seow holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and wrote his master's thesis on distortions in...

Abstract: Like any other software system, Web sites gradually accumulate "cruft" over time. They slow down. Links break. Security and compatibility problems mysteriously appear. New features don't integrate seamlessly. Things just don't work as well. In an ideal world, you'd rebuild from scratch. But you can't: there's no time or money for that. Fortunately, there's a solution: You can refactor your Web code using easy, proven techniques, tools, and recipes adapted from the world of software development. In Refactoring HTML, Elliotte Rusty Harold explains how to use refactoring to improve virtually any Web site or application. Writing for programmers and non-programmers alike, Harold shows how to refactor for better reliability, performance, usability, security, accessibility, compatibility, and even search engine placement. Step by step, he shows how to migrate obsolete code to today's stable Web standards, including XHTML, CSS, and REST-and eliminate chronic problems like presentation-based markup, stateful applications, and "tag soup." The book's extensive catalog of detailed refactorings and practical "recipes for success" are organized to help you find specific solutions fast, and get maximum benefit for minimum effort. Using this book, you can quickly improve site performance now-and make your site far easier to enhance, maintain, and scale for years to come. Topics covered include • Recognizing the "smells" of Web code that should be refactored • Transforming old HTML into well-formed, valid XHTML, one step at a time • Modernizing existing layouts with CSS • Updating old Web applications: replacing POST with GET, replacing old contact forms, and refactoring JavaScript • Systematically refactoring content and links • Restructuring sites without changing the URLs your users rely upon This book will be an indispensable resource for Web designers, developers, project managers, and anyone who maintains or updates existing sites. It will be especially helpful to Web professionals who learned HTML years ago, and want to refresh their knowledge with today's standards-compliant best practices. This book will be an indispensable resource for Web designers, developers, project managers, and anyone who maintains or updates existing sites. As the limitations of traditional IPv4 addressing become increasingly apparent, many decision makers recognize that a transition to IPv6 is needed far sooner than anticipated. Global IPv6 Strategies gives non-technical decision makers the information to plan and execute an orderly, efficient migration to IPv6-and reap the business benefits. This book's authors offer practical scenarios, proven best practices, and real-world case studies drawn from their unsurpassed experience helping enterprises and service providers move to IPv6. Abstract: Whether for big budget films and game productions or lower budget TV and Internet content, creating flexible and believable character rigs is an essential skill required to bring any 3D animation to life. As the leading software used for cutting-edge animation, Maya has an established rigging toolset for creating realistic character controls. Traditionally, however, the process of manually building custom rigs in the software interface has been time-consuming and expensive for those who want to produce high-quality 3D characters. Now for the first time and from the author of the best-seller, Maya Character Creation , comes an in-depth guide on how the pros are using MEL (Maya Embedded Language) scripting to streamline and automate the rigging process. With MEL Scripting a Character Rig in Maya, you'll learn how you can build custom character rigs in a matter of seconds, as opposed to days or weeks. In this detailed guide, you'll learn: • The techniques used to build a complex character rig in the software interface, followed by instructions for writing the equivalent MEL code for scripting the entire process. • Fundamental concepts of creating animation controls in Maya, from the basics of creating, editing, and binding skeletons, to more complex rigs with controls that employ spline IK and channel connections. • Important coding techniques such as using conditional statements, loops, variables, and procedures. • How to create a character animation GUI (Graphical User Interface) that makes animating the character easy and fast. • Important skills for building rigs using numerous hands-on exercises, all code examples and Maya files available on the companion Web site.

"Pick a random spot in this book and you'll find something interesting." Rex Black, test author and President of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB), USA "This book will enable a test professional to better balance the test cost with the benefits provided by testing, thus making it easier to get management buy in for the test project."

Abstract: One of the most basic laws of a web application is that the client, not the server, must initiate any communication between the two. There are a number of common-use cases where, ideally, the server would like to talk to the client−dashboards and monitoring apps, chat rooms and other collaborations, and progress reports on long-running processes. Comet (a.k.a. Reverse Ajax) provides a mechanism for enabling this. Comet is moderately complex to implement. But this practical, hands-on book gets you going. In Part 1 of this book, we start by examining the use cases, and look at the simple alternatives to Comet and how far they can satisfy your needs. In some situations, though, only Comet will do. In Part 2, we demonstrate how to set up and run a Comet-based application. With this book, be a part of the next generation, Ajax 2.0.

Abstract: IP Telephony has revolutionized many aspects of telecommunications and it continues to be deployed at a rapid pace. The benefits of transporting voice over an IP infrastructure include increased flexibility, better scalability, and a significant cost savings over traditional telephony networks. However, during the deployment of these VoIP solutions, other types of traditional telephony communications that can also realize these same benefits are often overlooked or ignored. Fax, Modem, and Text for IP Telephony is a comprehensive resource that confronts the need for information on transporting alternative, non-voice communications over the IP protocol. Beginning with the basic theory and operation of fax, modem, and text telephony, this book then educates you on all of the current transport options that are available. An extensive design guide then provides the pertinent advice and best practices for making the correct planning decisions and choosing the best transport option for your network. Fax, Modem, and Text for IP Telephony also includes meticulous configuration and troubleshooting guides. The configuration guides in this book include a number of sample configurations and tips to manage any fax, modem, or text deployment. The troubleshooting guides present the essential methodologies, debugs, and analysis tools for quickly resolving both the common and complex issues that may be encountered. This book is the perfect companion to other VoIP resources, and it is the only book that empowers you to successfully handle any fax, modem, or text implementation. Abstract: In business, school, romance, or your neighborhood, it is valuable to know what attracts people, what repels them, and what makes them tick. How do people see you? And how do you see others? In Get People to Do What You Want, you'll find the practical answers to these questions and in the process, discover how to win people over. You will gain an upper hand in your interaction with others that translates into higher starting salaries, greater productivity, and better relationships in which you are never the victim. You'll learn about: • One-on-one interaction. • Group dynamics. • The projection of leadership. • Instinctual trust and mistrust of others. • Other elements of human behavior that must be understood to win people over for more than a few moments. Get People to Do What You Want is the perfect, modern complement to Dale Carnegie's 1937 classic work on the topic. In fact, you might think of them as the Old and New Testaments of interpersonal skills. Interrogation is about getting people who do not like you (the enemy) to side with you long enough to get your desired outcome. It means motivating human behavior to create a bond that allows someone who may dislike you to feel obliged to cooperate with you. This book teaches you skills honed in years of interrogation and expanded by use in the business world. By combining these skills with your unique background, you will easily attract the people you want and get rid of the ones you don't. Gregory Hartley's expertise as an interrogator first earned him honors with the United States Army. More recently, it has drawn organizations such as the Navy SEALS and national TV to seek his insights about "how to" as well as "why." Greg has an illustrious military record, including earning the prestigious Knowlton Award, which recognizes individuals who have contributed significantly to the promotion of Army Intelligence. Greg has provided expert interrogation analysis for all major networks and many cable television channels, as well as NPR. He has been featured on many drive-time radios shows, morning television, and prime print media such as The Washington Post, US Weekly, and Newsday. Maryann Karinch is the author of 10 books, most of which address human behavior. Her corporate background includes senior communications positions with technology companies. Maryann and Gregory are coauthors of How to Spot a Liar and I Can Read You Like a Book.

Abstract: The Definitive Guide to SOA: Oracle® Service Bus, Second Edition targets professional software developers and architects who know enterprise development but are new to enterprise service buses (ESBs) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) development. This is the first book to cover a practical approach to SOA using the BEA AquaLogic Service Bus tool. And it's written from the "source"-BEA Systems AquaLogic product lead Jeff Davies. This book provides hands-on information to developing SOA-driven applications with ESBs as central components. It also gives strategic guidance on SOA planning, web service life-cycle management, administration of an ESB, and security considerations. Author Jeff Davies is careful to cut through theory and get straight to demonstrating successful use of the product. What you'll learn View code examples that demonstrate how to use the major features of the service bus. Learn tips and tricks to solve common problems. Change your thinking on versioning web services: instead of applying versions to web services, which the author feels is simply the wrong tool for managing service life cycle, learn a new way to manage the service life cycle. Get a new perspective on planning your "service landscape." Discover administration-specific details for keeping your ESB running with practical advice on moving your configurations from development to testing and production-details that are commonly omitted from technical books. Who this book is for This book is for developers, technical architects, tech leads, professional software developers ,and architects. It's targeted at folks who know enterprise development but are new to enterprise service buses and service-oriented architecture development.

Abstract: CMMI-ACQ ® (Capability Maturity Model ® Integration for Acquisition) describes best practices for the successful acquisition of products and services. Providing a practical framework for improving acquisition processes, CMMI-ACQ addresses the growing trend in business and government for organizations to purchase or outsource required products and services as an alternative to in-house development or resource allocation. Modeled after CMMI ® , Second Edition, which documented CMMI for Development, this book is the definitive reference for the current release of CMMI for Acquisition (version 1.2). In addition to the entire CMMI-ACQ model, the book includes tips, hints, cross-references, and other author notes to help you understand, apply, and find more information about the content of the acquisition process areas. The authors also have added two chapters to illustrate the application of CMMI-ACQ in industry (a case study from General Motors) and government. Whether you are new to CMMI models or are already familiar with one or more of them, you will find this book an essential resource for managing your acquisition processes and improving your overall performance. The book is divided into three parts. Part One introduces CMMI-ACQ in the broad context of CMMI models, including essential concepts and useful background. It then describes and shows the relationships among all the components of the CMMI-ACQ process areas, and explains paths to the adoption and use of the model for process improvement and benchmarking. Finally, two separate chapters describe special acquisition needs in a government environment and real experiences with CMMI-ACQ from industry. Part Two first describes generic goals and generic practices, and then, in twenty-two sections, details each of the CMMI-ACQ process areas, including specific goals, specific practices, and examples. These process areas are organized alphabetically by process area acronym to facilitate quick reference. Part Three provides several useful references, including sources for further information about CMMI and CMMI-ACQ, acronym definitions, a glossary of terms, and an index.

In this practical, example-driven book, one of the world's most experienced Linux driver developers systematically demonstrates how to develop reliable Linux drivers for virtually any device. Essential Linux Device Drivers is for any programmer with a working knowledge of operating systems and C, including programmers who have never written drivers before. Sreekrishnan Venkateswaran focuses on the essentials, bringing together all the concepts and techniques you need, while avoiding topics that only matter in highly specialized situations. Venkateswaran begins by reviewing the Linux 2.6 kernel capabilities that are most relevant to driver developers. He introduces simple device classes; then turns to serial buses such as I2C and SPI; external buses such as PCMCIA, PCI, and USB; video, audio, block, network, and wireless device drivers; user-space drivers; and drivers for embedded Linux-one of today's fastest growing areas of Linux development. For each, Venkateswaran explains the technology, inspects relevant kernel source files, and walks through developing a complete example. • Addresses drivers discussed in no other book, including drivers for I2C, video, sound, PCMCIA, and different types of flash memory • Demystifies essential kernel services and facilities, including kernel threads and helper interfaces • Teaches polling, asynchronous notification, and I/O control • Introduces the Inter-Integrated Circuit Protocol for embedded Linux drivers • Covers multimedia device drivers using the Linux-Video subsystem and Linux-Audio framework • Shows how Linux implements support for wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Infrared, WiFi, and cellular networking • Describes the entire driver development lifecycle, through debugging and maintenance • Includes reference appendixes covering Linux assembly, BIOS calls, and Seq files

Abstract: Reconfigurable Computing marks a revolutionary and hot topic that bridges the gap between the separate worlds of hardware and software design- the key feature of reconfigurable computing is its groundbreaking ability to perform computations in hardware to increase performance while retaining the flexibility of a software solution. Reconfigurable computers serve as affordable, fast, and accurate tools for developing designs ranging from single chip architectures to multi-chip and embedded systems. Scott Hauck and Andre DeHon have assembled a group of the key experts in the fields of both hardware and software computing to provide an introduction to the entire range of issues relating to reconfigurable computing. FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) act as the "computing vehicles to implement this powerful technology. Readers will be guided into adopting a completely new way of handling existing design concerns and be able to make use of the vast opportunities possible with reconfigurable logic in this rapidly evolving field. Designed for both hardware and software programmers Views of reconfigurable programming beyond standard programming languages Broad set of case studies demonstrating how to use FPGAs in novel and efficient ways
