Abstract: The climax of the Piegré festival cycle, which extends over months, is the concluding Piegré festival, held during the dry season. Visitors from other Krahó villages have come to the village of Pedra Branca to join in the festivities. The festival is conducted by two ceremonial groups newly constituted for this festival cycle, the Hóg and Krokok, and by the Kiñaré and Piegré group, all named after animals. The film presents the dances performed during the festival, which take place in the circular village road and are repeated successively in front of each house of the village. The Hóg, singing, move in a circle around the Kiñaré, then the Krokok join in an outer circle and both groups circle with quick lateral steps around the group in the centre. During the dances threee boys decorated with white feathers - the children of the Piegré bird - and three men are sitting on a platform representing the Piegré bird's nest. Finally articles of food collected on the platform, such as manioc tubers, are distributed among the partakers.

Abstract: By means of a pointed stick an about 13 year-old boy has his earlobes pierced. Thin wooden plugs are inserted into the holes in order to prevent the border of the wounds from coalescing. By degrees the plugs are replaced by thicker ones, aiming at a gradual enlargement of the earlobes. The swollen earlobes are cleaned and cooled with water. An adult inserts ear discs (approx. 8 cm diameter) in his fully widened earlobes.

Abstract: After day's work the men dance on the village square and practise wrestling two by two. The contenders first circle each other with a slouching attitude, then they go down on their knees and holding each other by the right hand each tries to clasp his left hand round his opponent's back and to push him down. The aim of the fight is to throw the opponent on the back to the ground. Only at contests between different tribes however the fights are fought to a finish, practice fights are usually stopped as soon as the superiority of one wrestler is evident.

Abstract: In preparation of a common catch of fish, the poisonous leaves of cultivated báka bushes are picked in the vicinity of a Kaschinaua village and, later on, the leaves are pulverized in mortars in the village. Following this, men, women and children walk upstream for three days until they reach a spot on the river which is particularly abundant with fish. Here the baskets containing the pulverized báka leaves are immersed and emptied into the water. The "fish poison" dissolves in the river water. Further downstream the Kaschinaua wait for the poisoned fish. The men kill the stunned fish by means of bow and arrow; women and children collect the dead fish. After this, one man kindles a flame by the drilling method to light a fire and then the caught fishes are gradually smoked on a grate which is positioned above the fire. After having returned to the village, both men and women dress up to hold a feast. The men dance in a long row through the houses and on the village square.

Abstract: Spaced from each other the summer huts and the mask-house of the Javahé-village Jatobá are standing on a sandbank in a small river on the Bananal Island. Inside the mask-house several young men put on mask-dresses. They come out. Singing and shaking a rattle the masks are dancing in pairs towards the village and then return to the mask-house. This action is repeated. Out of the huts, the women approach the masks, dance with them seperated by a few steps, facing each other, and then return to their places, followed by the masks. For the men, living in the mask-house, food is prepared and then brought to them. Towards the end of the dry season the men move to the plains, to collect honey. After this, the mask dances are continued once again for a few days.
