    Abstract: Geschnitten wird den Hang hinunter, jeweils auf das noch stehende Getreide zu. Der geschnittene Roggen wird mit der Sichel hochgehoben und zu Garben gebunden. Zum Trocknen kommen 15 Garben mit den Ähren nach unten auf ein Holzgestell (Mandlan). Die vorletzte und letzte Garbe werden auseinandergefächelt wie eine Kappe und mit heraushängenden Halmen verbunden. Vier Mandlan ergeben einen Schober. Die trockenen Mandlan werden auf dem Rücken in das Futterhaus getragen.
    Abstract: In late July, early August the rye is harvested. Before harvesting, which is done by all members of the family, the reaping-tools are sharpened by beating the cutting-edges flat. During reaping the tools are sharpened again with a whet stone. When the reaped rye is bound, it is put on wooden frames and left to dry. The dried rye is carried into the barn.

    Abstract: In St. Jakob (Ahrntal) wird das Vieh vom Ortspfarrer gesegnet (27.5.1963). Auf der langen Talstraße ziehen die Herden taleinwärts nach Prettau. Am Spätnachmittag erreichen sie die Obere Tauernalm; dort nächtigen sie. Am nächsten Morgen beginnt der Aufstieg durch Schneefelder zum Tauern. Steil geht der Weg jenseits des 2634 m hohen Joches ins Windbachtal hinunter.

    Abstract: The film shows the performance of the Überlingen sword dance in 1962. It begins with the morning breakfast of the colour-comppany and of the "Hänsele". After forming up the colour-copmany and the rest of the companies march to divine service and then to the town hall square. After the burgomaster has given his approval the dance is performed. The sword dance is followed by a maidens' dance. A second performance of the sworrd dance was filmed once again.

    Abstract: Eine Gruppe Heimatvertriebener aus dem Böhmerwald führt im Studio des IWF zum Dokumentationszweck den Schwerttanz vor, der aus zwei Teilen (Walzer und Marsch) besteht. In beiden Teilen werden die folgenden Figuren getanzt: Schwertbrücke, Schwertschwelle, Paschen.
    Abstract: A group of refugees from Bohemian Foerst performs in a studio the sword dance of the Bohemian Forest. The dance consists of two parts: The sword bridge, the sword thershold, and the so-called "Paschen". The dance is shown twice, the first time in full view without change of camera angle, the second with respective camera shots of the various steps and movements.

    Abstract: Die Sichte (Kniesense) wird auf dem Hof gedengelt und auf dem Feld gewetzt. Mit der Sichte in der Rechten und mit dem Mathaken zum Abteilen der Halme in der Linken schneiden zwei Männer Roggen gegen das noch stehende Korn. Nach etwa 8 Hieben werden die Halme von den Schnittern in Gelege gebracht, von einer Binderin mit jeweils zwei Strohbändern in Garben gebunden und in langen Reihen abgelegt.
    Abstract: The short-handled scythe is sharpended. Holding the scythe in the right and a hook for comparting the blades in the left hand men cut rye. After 8 chops the corn is taken away by the reapers and women bind it into sheaves with two straw strings and lay them in long rows.

    Abstract: Withies are cut, split into three parts and pointed. Rye straw is combed out with a wooden rake, the ears are cut off. The beehive is coiled from a single bundle of straw, which is pulled through a template ring made of cow horn to ensure uniformity of size. The basketry technique is known as "wrapped and pierced coiling" whereby the coil is wrapped and interlocked with the split withies. The bell top is shaped first, followed by the cylindrical walls with the flight entrance for the bees. The finished skep is about 38 cm high.

    Abstract: In einer Bauernstube in Mardorf sitzen drei Mädchen und versehen ungefärbte Eier mit geometrischen und pflanzlichen Ornamenten sowie mit Sprüchen. Zum Verzieren verwenden sie flüssiges Bienenwachs und Schreibfedern. Die Eier werden in heiße Farbbrühe getaucht. Anschließend wird das Wachs mit einem weichen Tuch abgerieben. Die Ornamente erscheinen weiß auf farbigem Grund.
    Abstract: In a farmhouse in Mardorf three girls decorate eggs with geometric or plant ornaments and with sayings using liquid beeswax and pens. The eggs are dipped into hot dye. Afterwards the wax is rubbed off with a smooth cloth. The ornaments occur white on a coloured ground.

Die Brote werden in mit einer Speckschwarte eingefetteten Brotkästen gebacken. Das Backhaus befindet sich außerhalb des Hauses. Der Backofen wird vom Bauern mit Holz beheizt. Vor dem Brotbacken wird Butterkuchen gebacken und nach dem Backen Obst gedörrt.

The bakehouse is outside the farmhouse. The farmer heats the oven with wood. Before breadbaking butter cake is baken and fruit is dried afterwards.

    Abstract: Weidenruten werden geschnitten, in drei Teile gesplissen und angespitzt. Stroh wird mit einer hölzernen Harke ausgekämmt, die Ähren werden abgeschnitten. Der Korb wird aus einer einzigen Strohwulstspirale gebildet, die, um eine gleichmäßige Dicke zu erreichen, durch einen Ring aus Kuhhorn gezogen wird. Der Wulst wird mit Weidenruten umflochten. Es entsteht zuerst die Kuppel, dann der zylindrische Schaft mit dem Flugloch. Der Korb ist etwa 38 cm hoch.
