Abstract: Generate reports with style! The SAS Programmer's PROC REPORT Handbook: ODS Companion explains how to use style elements within a style template to customize reports generated by PROC REPORT, leading to more appealing and effective business reports. Many programmers are faced with generating reports that are easy to read and comprehend for a wide variety of audiences, which is where the ODS destinations and style changes come into play. This book teaches you how to use style elements in PROC REPORT, a versatile reporting procedure, to customize your output. Mastering style elements allows you to change visual aspects of reports, such as borders, column widths, fonts, backgrounds, and more. This companion to The SAS Programmer's PROC REPORT Handbook: Basic to Advanced Reporting Techniques explores how the style elements within a style template affect the output generated by PROC REPORT. It provides examples of altering the style elements and the effect on the main ODS destinations, while also discussing common pitfalls that programmers can avoid while working with tables, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and PDF output.

Abstract: This IBM® Redbooks® publication helps you with the planning, installation, and configuration of the new IBM Spectrum™ Archive (formerly IBM Linear Tape File System™ (LTFS)) Enterprise Edition (EE) V1.2.2.0 for the IBM TS3310, IBM TS3500, and IBM TS4500 tape libraries. IBM Spectrum Archive™ EE enables the use of the LTFS for the policy management of tape as a storage tier in an IBM Spectrum Scale™ (formerly IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS™)) based environment and helps encourage the use of tape as a critical tier in the storage environment. This is the third edition of IBM Spectrum Archive V1.2 (SG24-8333-00) although it is based on the prior editions of IBM Linear Tape File System Enterprise Edition V1.1.1.2: Installation and Configuration Guide, SG24-8143. IBM Spectrum Archive EE can run any application that is designed for disk files on a physical tape media. IBM Spectrum Archive EE supports the IBM Linear Tape-Open (LTO) Ultrium 7, 6, and 5 tape drives in IBM TS3310, TS3500, and TS4500 tape libraries. Also, IBM TS1140 and IBM TS1150 tape drives are supported in TS3500 and TS4500 tape library configurations. IBM Spectrum Archive EE can play a major role in reducing the cost of storage for data that does not need the access performance of primary disk. The use of IBM Spectrum Archive EE to replace disks with physical tape in tier 2 and tier 3 storage can improve data access over other storage solutions because it improves efficiency and streamlines management for files on tape. IBM Spectrum Archive EE simplifies the use of tape by making it transparent to the user and manageable by the administrator under a single infrastructure. Abstract: The event-centric hybrid cloud integration revolves around applications running based on events or messages. The new event-centric approach to hybrid cloud aims to simplify the task of managing these messages while increasing the overall reliability of the system. Event-centric applications work well in the cloud due to the varying intensity and frequency of events. These fluctuations fit well into a cloud infrastructure that can dynamically scale to fit those needs. An event-centric approach cuts down on communication overhead for an application, thus helping to speed up the development process. IBM® Hybrid Integration Services is a set of hybrid cloud capabilities in IBM Bluemix® that allows businesses to create hybrid clouds by connecting their Bluemix environment to on-premises systems at the application programming interface (API), data, or event level. In November 2015, the IBM International Technical Support Organization (ITSO) IBM Redbooks® team published a Redbooks publication that covers hybrid cloud scenarios with Bluemix for API and data integrations, Hybrid Cloud Data and API Integration: Integrate Your Enterprise and Cloud with Bluemix Integration Services, SG24-8277, and can be found at the following website: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg248277.html?Open Hybrid Cloud Event Integration: Integrate Your Enterprise and Cloud with Bluemix Integration Services, SG24-8281 is a companion book to SG24-8277 and focuses on event-centric hybrid cloud integrations with Bluemix.

Abstract: Almost all technological components in the data center are getting faster: central processing units, networks, storage area networks (SANs), and memory. All of them have improved their speed by a minimum of 10X; some of them by 100X, for example, data networks. However, spinning disk performance has only increased by 1.2 times. IBM® FlashSystem™ 840 version 1.3 closes this gap. The FlashSystem 840 is optimized for the data center to enable organizations of all sizes to strategically harness the value of stored data. It provides flexible capacity and extreme performance for the most demanding applications, including virtualized or bare-metal online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) databases, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), technical computing applications, and cloud environments. The system accelerates response times with IBM MicroLatency® access times as low as 90 µs write latency and 135 µs read latency to enable faster decision making. The introduction of a low capacity 1 TB flash module allows the FlashSystem 840 to be configured in capacity points as low as 2 TB in protected RAID 5 mode. Coupled with 10 GB iSCSI, the FlashSystem is positioned to bring extreme performance to small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and growth markets. Implementing the IBM FlashSystem® 840 provides value that goes beyond those benefits that are seen on disk-based arrays. These benefits include better user experience, server and application consolidation, development cycle reduction, application scalability, data center footprint savings, and improved price performance economics. This IBM Redbooks® publication discusses IBM FlashSystem 840 version 1.3. It provides in-depth knowledge of the product architecture, software and hardware, its implementation, and hints and tips. Also illustrated are use cases that show real-world solutions for tiering, flash-only, and preferred read, as well as examples of the benefits gained by integrating the FlashSystem storage into business environments. Also described are product integration scenarios running the IBM FlashSystem 840 with the IBM SAN Volume Controller, and the IBM Storwize® family of products such V7000, V5000, and the V3700, as well as considerations when integrating with the IBM FlashSystem 840. The preferred practice guidance is provided for your FlashSystem environment with IBM 16 Gbps b-type products and features, focusing on Fibre Channel design. This book is int...

Abstract: Together, big data and analytics have tremendous potential to improve the way we use precious resources, to provide more personalized services, and to protect ourselves from unexpected and ill-intentioned activities. To fully use big data and analytics, an organization needs a system of insight. This is an ecosystem where individuals can locate and access data, and build visualizations and new analytical models that can be deployed into the IT systems to improve the operations of the organization. The data that is most valuable for analytics is also valuable in its own right and typically contains personal and private information about key people in the organization such as customers, employees, and suppliers. Although universal access to data is desirable, safeguards are necessary to protect people's privacy, prevent data leakage, and detect suspicious activity. The data reservoir is a reference architecture that balances the desire for easy access to data with information governance and security. The data reservoir reference architecture describes the technical capabilities necessary for a system of insight, while being independent of specific technologies. Being technology independent is important, because most organizations already have investments in data platforms that they want to incorporate in their solution. In addition, technology is continually improving, and the choice of technology is often dictated by the volume, variety, and velocity of the data being managed. A system of insight needs more than technology to succeed. The data reservoir reference architecture includes description of governance and management processes and definitions to ensure the human and business systems around the technology support a collaborative, self-service, and safe environment for data use. The data reservoir reference architecture was first introduced in Governing and Managing Big Data for Analytics and Decision Makers, REDP-5120, which is available at: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpieces/abstracts/redp5120.html. This IBM® Redbooks publication, Designing and Operating a Data Reservoir, builds on that material to provide more detail on the capabilities and internal workings of a data reservoir.
