    Abstract: Long description: Bei einer Bestattung sind es Dinge der materialen Kultur, die sorgsam aufbewahrt werden: Fotos, Kleidungsstücke, Briefe, Erinnerungsurnen oder -diamanten. Diese Artefakte haben für die Angehörigen die Bedeutung von Privat-Reliquien. Während die katholische Kirche in der kultischen Verehrung heiliger Überreste eine lange Tradition pflegt, kultiviert der Protestantismus diese Praxis nicht. In der spätmodernen Religions- und Bestattungspraxis fließen die konfessionellen Kontraste jedoch ineinander. Das Wiederaufkommen des Nahverhältnisses von Dingen und Menschen in der Sepulkralkultur signalisiert theologischen, religions- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Klärungsbedarf, dem sich die Beiträger_innen des Bandes verständigungsorientiert im interdisziplinären Diskurs annehmen
    Abstract: Biographical note: Thomas Klie (Dr. theol.), geb. 1956, ist Professor für Praktische Theologie an der Theologischen Fakultät an der Universität Rostock. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Pastoral- und Religionsästhetik, spätmoderne Religions- und Kasualkultur und Religionshybride, Performanztheorie und Sepulkralkultur. Jakob Kühn (Dipl. theol.), geb. 1988, ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter für Praktische Theologie an der Theologischen Fakultät an der Universität Rostock und promoviert zum Thema Kasualrede. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Homiletik, Kasualtheorie sowie Sepulkralkultur
